Nice lobby
Room was a little dated. Counters and kids beds were etched, scratched.
Mosquito in pool area that but me and caused swelling
The room was clean, comfortable, and mostly well equipped for a suite.
Staff were friendly and responsive.
We had not stayed in a Sandman before and were very impressed with the quality of the hotel!
Breakfast was great. Good service. Lay-out of room was great. Room wasn't ready when we arrived just prior to 3pm.. Ashwin found a ready room but was long walk down hallway near laundry & 'work' area.. Not acceptable for us due to health issues - too much walking. So without even getting into the room we went back to front desk & she was able to set us up in the room we stayed. Perfect location - close to both restaurants & friends who were also staying there that we came to visit.
Room temp was either very cold or hot... hard to adjust to 'comfortable level'. Also found the marble (?) floor tiles in the hallway & bathroom extremely cold to walk on - kind of a shock for us in middle of night.
Room was nice, dated but decent and large. Having an actual balcony was very nice. Big rooms. The central inside courtyard was very lovely looking.
The breakfast was atrocious. The hot food was soggy and undercooked both at 7am and 9am. The quality of the food was abysmal. Even the bagels and pastries were unpleasant. Bagel tasted like dust, and since they were out of plastic knives (oh yeah, paper plates and plastic forks, folks) i used a fork to spread cream cheese on it... and the pastries were soggy.
Also the pool was closed for our entire visit because they had to clean it. We were there from 3pm Friday to Sunday morning and didnt get to use the pool. Also its way in the basement and we had to really explore to find it since one elevator at the end of the hall was out of commission.
Also I wanted to log into wifi, but there wasn't a clear modem to connect to. No instructions.
The beds were so comfortable.
The elevators were extremely warm
Falicia was quite friendly and understood the difference between providing good service versus providing hospitality. As a hospitality consultant this is quite important to meet people like that.
My room looked quite sad. Everything grey & black. Edmonton or over all Canada has phenomenal & colourful nature or stunning buildings that could bring more joy to a hotel room. To me seeing heavy duty metal structures or some old building offers sadness
