Cinnamon Citadel Kandy

Beautiful hotel just outside of Kandy. Good to be away from the city centre. The pool was beautiful, as was the setting by the lake. We had a superior room with a lake view which was perfect - very big with a balcony. We enjoyed both the buffet and the Chutneys Indian restaurant. Highly recommend the chicken biriyani and the rogan josh. We also loved the open bar and the orange mojito! Breakfast buffet was vast with lots of fresh cooking stations and a beautiful view above the lake.

Room was lovely with balcony overlooking the river and swimming pool.
Clean and comfortable although design of our room left the shower area a little squashed. Perfectly useable though. Shower drain overflowed adjacent to toilet but no big issue.
Nice bar, attentive staff. Didn’t have time to enjoy the pool area but looked lovely.
Catering here was a little disappointing. Again a hotel frequented by large groups on large tables. If individual travellers you appeared to be seated on the balcony which was much more pleasant. Food was not replaced quickly in the buffet, and not as wide a choice as others we stayed in.
Overall, acceptable and pleasant enough for a two night stay, no more.

Food was great! We had a meal at Chutneys. Aathima, Pangeeth, and Rohaha were all fantastic in the restaurant.

An extremely comfortable hotel that has attentive staff who are only too pleased to help you in anyway they can. The food in the main buffet restaurant caters for all tastes and the staff are friendly and always smiling. We received excellent service from both Imashi and Nissanka who always greeted us warmly and with a smile on their face. Both are a credit to the hotel

The room was clean and quiet, well laid out too. The first meal was excellent, staff very attentive and helpful however the other two meals were not brilliant. They ran out of some food items and no-one was checking so guests had to keep asking for the dishes to be replenished. The staff serving drinks were very slow, indeed at one breakfast sitting we had finished our breakfast and were about to leave when coffee was offered despite having asked for it three times. Food was OK.

This is my second Cinnamon experience. The resorts areof the highest standard. The food is excellent with a great variety. Amenities provide the most wonderful relaxing experience. Staff are very friendly and obliging. In particular Christina was very helpful, and patient sorting out a small problem. I will recommend Cinnamon Resorts to all my friends.

Loved the scenery, pool, food and staff, awesome. They help organise things to do, Have shopping available, restaurants available.

As soon as you walk in you are impressed by the view of the west facing pool area overlooking the lake. Note, the hotel is way done a country road, not on the main road, very quiet and tranquil. Before you get to the pool area, you reach the bar on the split level for a welcome drink. Bar service very friendly and efficient. All the staff are super friendly. My room was large, clean and well equipped. Had an internal door, like a small hallway so no noise at all from the corridor. I had a decent size terrace overlooking gardens, lovely room. The buffet was excellent, highly recommend the pumpkin curry, delicious! I was part of a a large solo tour group and only stayed for 2 nights, would’ve happily stayed there longer. The jewellery shop on site is excellent, great choice. They offered quite a few of us some great deals and any resizing/alterations were done very quickly. Would recommend.

What a stunning hotel, in a stunning location!

We’ve enjoyed a fantastic stay in a superb room, with magical views over the river, and then enjoyed everything the hotel has to offer.

From the hotel it’s easy to get into Kandy City Centre, whilst the hotel itself is beautifully peacefully and at one with the abundant nature.

And the bar team were great, attentive and engaging - Hasini what a star, a glorious smile with everything she does.

We had a perfect stay at cinnamon citadel. The welcome was really warm and professional . We were upgraded to higher category rooms. The main restaurant overlooking the river was exceptional. We had a wonderful dining experience at chutneys restaurant . Unfortunately we didn't have time to enjoy the boat ride. I should specially mention Imashi, Gamini, Sasi at restaurant were great. Yohan, Pawan and Sajini were great at the reception desk. Ram and sarath helped us with bags. Chinthaka, tharindu and lakmal were great at the bar.

Lovely setting out of town by the river. Pleasant , helpful staff and wonderful birthday greetings, Sri Lankan style.

Lovely Hotel overlooking the River. We booked a superior double room which provided everything you might need with a balcony overlooking the garden and river. We ate on the balcony of the restaurant for most meals again overlooking the river, which was lovely, food and service were very good.

Cinnamon never disappoints. The ambience experience and food exceptional. The staff is friendly. The chefs are friendly. Special mention goes to Sanjeewa Asela and Ashmini and all the food and beverage staff and front office staff are next level. Truely enjoyed the vacation.

Very peaceful hidden away just out of the town, very clean and welcoming spacious rooms comfortable beds, beautiful pool overlooking the river.

The hotel is in a beautiful riverside setting with a great pool area that is very clean. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Special mention for Duminda Sajeewa who was a great waiter

Hasini was excellent all night serving a big group of us.

I stayed with my family for one night, checking in on the 18th and departing on the 19th, and we had a very pleasant experience.

We received a very warm welcome from the front office staff, along with refreshing cinnamon iced tea, which made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived.

The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the river, with calm surroundings and stunning views. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable, making our short stay very relaxing.

The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. A special thanks to Prageeth at the A la carte restaurant (Chutney), who was very attentive and ensured we were well taken care of, including a special cake for our anniversary. Special thanks also to Sanjeewa at the main restaurant, as well as the pool attendant and bar staff (sorry, I don’t remember their names) for their excellent service and warm hospitality.

The overall atmosphere of the hotel is peaceful and family-friendly. Breakfast had a good variety, and the dining area also offers a great view, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The food at Chutney Restaurant was also very delicious.

We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend Cinnamon Citadel Kandy to families and anyone visiting Kandy. We look forward to staying again in the future.
