First and Last Time in Djerba – Mixed Feelings
It was our first time in Djerba – and definitely the last. Luckily, we only stayed for 5 days, because we wouldn’t have managed a whole week.
We absolutely didn’t expect any luxury, but we were hoping for at least some basic standards – and even that was often missing.
What disappointed us:
The hotel beach was dirty, and the sea was full of seagrass and debris. However, if you walk about 5 minutes to a public beach, you’ll find a much nicer spot – clear water and white/yellow sand. It’s a shame the hotel couldn’t offer something similar.
The food was the same every day. Long queues, no clean plates or cutlery. Breakfast was particularly weak – there were several types of cheese, but they were tasteless or unpleasant. Cold cuts and salamis looked like they’d been sitting out for too long.
Our first room (a bungalow) was terrible – small, no window, very cramped. We asked to change rooms, and although we eventually got a much nicer room with a beautiful view, the communication with reception was frustrating. Even when we agreed on something, it wasn’t respected until we followed up multiple times. That was exhausting.
Now the positives:
Housekeeping staff were amazing. The room was always cleaned well, and we often came back to lovely towel decorations on the bed – a small touch, but it made a difference.
Drinking water was always available in bottles and regularly restocked – which was a big plus. That’s not something we’ve seen very often, even though we’ve travelled a lot.
The shisha bar (for an extra charge) was a nice place to relax in the evening. Great atmosphere and good service – one of the few places where we could really enjoy our time.
We didn’t come expecting a 5-star experience, but we did expect at least basic comfort and proper service – which was often lacking. While there were a few nice moments, we definitely won’t be coming back.
Beach, activities, Pool and cleanliness and staff are really nice. Staff appeared not sufficient informed sometimes. Paying/Renting the safe is ridiculous. The hammam needs restoration as it looks, smells and is old. A cockroach appeared while I was in the Hammam.
Overall our stay was pleasant and the warm hearts of the staff made it really nice.
Sollte mehr Sauberkeit in der Restaurant
We had a lovely stay, with highlights including the stunning white sandy beach and turquoise waters, the lively animation team keeping both kids and adults entertained, and the genuinely friendly staff. The setting is charming, with traditional Tunisian-style bungalows nestled among beautifully kept gardens. The food was varied and delicious, with fresh fish available daily and a regular Tunisian buffet. Everything felt clean and well-maintained, and finding a sunbed by the pool or on the beach was never a problem.
Our family room was a bit snug for four with teenagers, and some activities seemed a little pricey. Breakfast could offer more fresh fruit, and the hotel’s open smoking policy may bother non-smokers, especially during outdoor dining. Depending on your room location, you might also hear music from the disco at night.
Overall, it’s great value for money and a relaxed, family-friendly spot with plenty to do. We’d happily recommend it—and if you’re celebrating a birthday, the staff will make it extra special.
Hotel - nice hotel with 2 big pools and one also for some children
Food - all inclusive, enough food for the whole day even with snacks
Drinks - non-alcoholic drinks and drinks with Gin are for free, 10-16 Dinares for Mojito - we did not need it
Beach - they try to clean it every night but for us pools were enough and there is also animanition programme whole day next to the pools
Staff - all bartenders and waiters were always nice and helpful
Animation team - best team ever
I think the most important part for the whole hotel is the animation team. They take care about the guests and you can play volleyball, football, darts, swimming races etc with them.
Every evening there is a dance window where you can learn tango, walts etc with the animatores. After that there is a dance show everyday in the amphitheatre where especially guy Alpha and girl Sousou do great job. These two guys took care about us and we enjoyed our vacation to the fullest. Thank you one more time
An excellent AI experience, very difficult to match in terms of quality/price.
A 3-star hotel, with top marks in terms of cleanliness, spacious and picturesque rooms, very attentive, helpful and always present staff (I had a problem with the air conditioning resolved promptly), a lot of variety of food, a good animation team with many free activities, spacious and well-managed swimming pool, beach a 100 meters from the hotel, with direct access, and also with a good range of activities.
The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was due to some problems with the meal service (sometimes we had to wait for plates, glasses and cutlery), the entertainment, in my opinion, ends too soon and the lack of variety in the afternoon snack, in a period of just one hour, and every day only with pancakes and sweets.
Also worth highlighting the extra-hotel activities on the beach (jet ski, parachute, camel, horse, among others) and the possibility of booking typical Tunisian circuits there such as the city tour, flamingo island, visit to the desert...
I did the visit to the desert, the city tour and jet ski with Hosni Benmadhi, who I recommend to everyone for his seriousness, concern for his clients and having ensured, in all the activities I did, what he committed to with me.
I really enjoyed my stay in Djerba, the beach is beautiful, I liked the hotel very much, The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful upon my arrival. But what I loved the most was the reception they were super profiossonal Special appreciation to "haythem" in the reception They were quick to address all my requests and made my stay very enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for its excellent customer service!
Mass tourism at its worst
Checked in late this evening and went straight to dinner. The restaurant was a huge barn. Food was tasteless and over cooked. When we were shown to our room it was stuffy and hot and the aircon was not working, nor was a remote in sight. I made the five minutes trek to the reception to be told that aircon is only used from June. When I mentioned that the single window had no fly screen and if opened was easy for someone to climb through along with the mosquitos, I was told that this was the same in all rooms. I asked to see a different room. My request was referred to the manager who (it seemed) reluctantly asked the bellhop to take me to a balcony room. This had a double door which could be opened allowing airflow however from the cafe outside not finish until 1.30 pm. We decided to stay in our stuffy, now mosquito filled room. The attitude from the staff has been rude and almost intimidating. Hopefully the pool which looks nice is better than many other reviews I have read. Would not recommend this place at all.
Hôtel familial et en bordure de mer. Le personnel est vraiment très agréable. Bien sûr il y a quelques travaux à réaliser, mais nous y passons toujours d’excellentes vacances… Merci 🙏
.
hotel convivial .Personnel aimable ,Bel environnement .
Overall good experience, initially we were surprised by the appearance of the room, it was different from the photo we saw in the Agency offer and the food served, but then we understood that it is basically one of the best accommodation units in the hotel, we had a suite with a sea view - I must say that we finally appreciated the view of the sea, the space of the accommodation unit and room style in European countries.
The quality and variety of food also differs, but again it's a different culture and customs, you get used to it, if you choose a 4-star hotel or more, you should be satisfied and find food that you eat with relish.
An entertainment was provided every day and during the day, in the evening there were short dance slots when animators invited guests to the dance floor. the only comment I would have is that sometimes they were a little intensive in persuasion, but otherwise satisfaction.
Room cleaning-every day they tidied up nicely, made the bed, changed the towels and decorated the bed with the clothes we left on the beds. The cleaners were always smiling, helpful if you asked for new towels and always greeted us.
The beach was nice, quiet and right behind the hotel. Only the sunbeds would need to be replaced, both by the sea and by the pool, they are worn out. I recommend a mat for those who don't like it.
The male staff here are very attentive, helpful and smiling towards the women, but if you don't want too much attention, I recommend smiling at them sparingly and not flirting. Anyway, women have friendly attention, especially if they are unaccompanied. As for the guests, the hotel accommodated mainly French clientele, about 80%, so if you don't want to be in the company of Czechs, this is a good choice.
Also, I recommend not to forget to get ready to give tips. The staff appreciate it and they deserve it.
