The staff were exceptional. Attentive, warm, and genuinely knowledgeable in a way that makes a hotel feel effortlessly well run. The location is gorgeous. The serenity which offers a sense of calm from the moment you arrive. What stood out most was how the staff shared their insight into the castle , helping you appreciate the beautiful character of the place and encouraging you to really make the most of it.

Our room had a jacuzzi overlooking the city, and the view was just as striking in the daytime as it was at night. If you’re staying in Malta, it’s hard to imagine a better place to stay. A big thank you to Silvia, Aurore, Sara and Dennis.

Beautiful hotel in medieval Mdina. A welcomed change from the ubiquitous modern hotels. Decorated to high standards along with a very kind and accommodating staff. Would most certainly stay here again.

We are regular customers and we have been coming here every year for the last five years. For us this is a special place and we have fond memories. It is very romantic. Staff and management always take extremely good care of us and now even remember us from year to year. Its quiet, relaxing and very comfortable. Waking up to one of the best views in Malta is exhilarating. Mdina is a, secluded, romantic small city with a rich history. In weekends it tends to be popular with tourists so it has lately become busier. But at Xara Palace its like time stands still.

We stayed at Xara Palace for two days and both days we woke up to workmen digging up the pavement outside our room.

The staff were lovely.

The room was exceptional, as were all the finishes throughout the Hotel. The room had great views as well as being full of natural light. The breakfast outside on the Bastions was also a fantastic experience, as you could look over all of Malta whilst enjoying your breakfast and enjoying the sun.
Would highly recommend.

It is hard to describe an experience so wonderful. This gem of a hotel is located in the best place in Malta to stay. From the moment of reservation till we left, the service has been superb.
Matthias at the front office is an exceptional person. We had wonderful conversations, learning about the culture and he helped us plan our day to perfection.
The breakfast staff at the De Mondian were very nice and the meals were excellent
We had 3 wonderful days in Mdina which is a magical place where time stands still.
The hotel room and amenities were carefully and perfectly appointed.

A beautiful place to stay.
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Separate lounge and sleeping area so you didn’t feel like you were in a hotel room at all.

The breakfast was amazing. The food fresh and tasty. A fantastic start to the day. The views were so relaxing.

The staff couldn’t be more helpful. From me calling g prior to arrival with parking questions to the departure with a list of places to visit on the rest of my travels. I miss them already!

From start to finish of our stay for 2 nights. We were met with warmth, grace, and professionalism. All the staff couldn't do enough for us, and everything was done with a smile. Staff ( Silvia, Sara and Denis ) on the front of the house were excellent. I would suggest anyone to stay here for location to see Malta. The Xara Palace is full character, comfortable. Facilities are second to none.

Great location: just walk out and you are in the ancient city of Mdina. The whole city is on the level with no steps. Hint: start your visit early before the day-trippers arrive. [Note: there are virtually no seats in Mdina to sit and stare.]

The hotel has character and cannot be compared with modern 5* hotels. Lots of antique furniture and pictures to look at. Sit and rest in the spacious and comfy atrium. The staff are attentive and no request was too much trouble.

Dinner at the le Mondion restaurant was great - but expensive as there is no a-la-carte option. Roast squab pigeon was a revelation.

Buy a room with breakfast option - the quality of the breakfast is outstanding - eat as much as you want.

Our room was a two level suite. Enter into a sitting room with a curious breakfast bar. The upstairs bedroom was cosy, lovely bed and outstanding bathroom. In the middle of winter the heating worked properly including in the bathroom.

Given the chance, I would stay again.

This ancient palazzo has been beautifully restored keeping all it's charm and grandeur but with every modern comfort. There are vast spaces, soft chalky walls, polished old furniture, modern pieces of art, calm ,quiet, and a very genuine warm welcome. The staff are so kind ,helpful but never intrusive.
We stayed room only in a duplex suite with a double height downstairs area and windows opening onto the street. Dramatic yet cosy- gorgeous upstairs bathroom and bedroom area on a huge mezzanine level. I don't think any of the reviews I'd read really did it justice.
We loved being able to potter round Mdina in the quiet of early morning and evening. Rabat is just across the road with plenty places to eat,from workman's cafés to Michelin starred restaurants,and a great bus service just a few minutes from the hotel.
We feel very lucky to have stayed here,a really memorable experience

Breakfast is delicious and varied.
And most importantly, the staff is very friendly and helpful.
The entire old town of Mdina and the newer town of Rabat are within ease walking distance with a lot of nice lunch and dinner places

We loved our stay and wish we could have stayed much longer. The building is beautiful and has been very well maintained the staff are simply wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us. What a lovely experience we had.
