The Perfect Palace
Pros:

A beautiful place to stay.
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Separate lounge and sleeping area so you didn’t feel like you were in a hotel room at all.

The breakfast was amazing. The food fresh and tasty. A fantastic start to the day. The views were so relaxing.

The staff couldn’t be more helpful. From me calling g prior to arrival with parking questions to the departure with a list of places to visit on the rest of my travels. I miss them already!
This is the perfect hotel.

Superb
Pros:

From start to finish of our stay for 2 nights. We were met with warmth, grace, and professionalism. All the staff couldn't do enough for us, and everything was done with a smile. Staff ( Silvia, Sara and Denis ) on the front of the house were excellent. I would suggest anyone to stay here for location to see Malta. The Xara Palace is full character, comfortable. Facilities are second to none.

Step Back in Time - with all Mod-Cons!
Pros:

Great location: just walk out and you are in the ancient city of Mdina. The whole city is on the level with no steps. Hint: start your visit early before the day-trippers arrive. [Note: there are virtually no seats in Mdina to sit and stare.]

The hotel has character and cannot be compared with modern 5* hotels. Lots of antique furniture and pictures to look at. Sit and rest in the spacious and comfy atrium. The staff are attentive and no request was too much trouble.

Dinner at the le Mondion restaurant was great - but expensive as there is no a-la-carte option. Roast squab pigeon was a revelation.

Buy a room with breakfast option - the quality of the breakfast is outstanding - eat as much as you want.

Our room was a two level suite. Enter into a sitting room with a curious breakfast bar. The upstairs bedroom was cosy, lovely bed and outstanding bathroom. In the middle of winter the heating worked properly including in the bathroom.

Given the chance, I would stay again.

Gorgeous hotel, wonderful staff
Pros:

This ancient palazzo has been beautifully restored keeping all it's charm and grandeur but with every modern comfort. There are vast spaces, soft chalky walls, polished old furniture, modern pieces of art, calm ,quiet, and a very genuine warm welcome. The staff are so kind ,helpful but never intrusive.
We stayed room only in a duplex suite with a double height downstairs area and windows opening onto the street. Dramatic yet cosy- gorgeous upstairs bathroom and bedroom area on a huge mezzanine level. I don't think any of the reviews I'd read really did it justice.
We loved being able to potter round Mdina in the quiet of early morning and evening. Rabat is just across the road with plenty places to eat,from workman's cafés to Michelin starred restaurants,and a great bus service just a few minutes from the hotel.
We feel very lucky to have stayed here,a really memorable experience

Wonderful Environment!
Pros:

The staff is very polite, kind and helpful. The suite was amazing and clean with a great view and jacuzzi.
The reception treats the guests in a professional manner, thanks to Aurora. who does everything to make you have an unforgettable experience.
The dinner and breakfast were also very delicious, which was crowned by the kindness and love of the staff!

beautiful relaxed stay

A beautiful room, perfectly clean, and a wonderful jacuzzi with a stunning view.
Breakfast is delicious and varied.
And most importantly, the staff is very friendly and helpful.
The entire old town of Mdina and the newer town of Rabat are within ease walking distance with a lot of nice lunch and dinner places

Luxury at its best
Pros:

We loved our stay and wish we could have stayed much longer. The building is beautiful and has been very well maintained the staff are simply wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us. What a lovely experience we had.

Hôtel historique pour séjour magnifique
Pros:

Hôtel extra-ordinaire, par sa localisation, son histoire, les chambres luxueuses toutes agencées différemment, la vue splendide, le service adorable et prévenant. Sa localisation au centre de l’île est un plus. Nous y avons passé quatre nuits pour un séjour mémorable !

Cons:

N’y allez pas si vous rêvez de grands buffets de petits déjeuners ! Le petit déjeuner est copieux et délicieux mais c’est sur demande et amené à table. Ce qui a beaucoup d’autres avantages…

Superb in every way. We were delighted with the experience throughout.
Pros:

The hotel is tastefully and elegantly furnished, with period paintings and ornamentation and in accordance with its noble history. The rooms are beautifully appointed and with high quality fabrics, towels and bed linen, most are with balconies and high ceilings. We were very touched to receive Christmas cake, mincepies and a gift for each of us. The Christmas drinks and mince pies was also such a generous gesture and we particularly enjoyed being hosted in person by the owner of this glorious hotel.

In the middle of Mdina, in a grand historic palace, with rooms and amenities that match. But what really stands out is the service: Anticipatory, friendly but not intrusive. Literally the best service I've had in decades.

The Quiet Life but close to action if you desire
Pros:

Everything is about the Xara Palace is exceptional. There is not a better location than being within the walls of the Mdina but within easy walking distance to Rabat. The sunrise views to the east made the delicious breakfast even more special. Our room was very spacious, and the bed was perfect. The service we received from the staff was second to none; there is no detail left to chance. Although everyone was fantastic, we would like to single out Aurora and Sara at the front desk for their helpful advice and hospitality.

Cons:

We had to leave after three nights.
