An absolutely exceptional hotel and a true 5-star experience in every sense of the word.
We stayed in an Executive Double Room, which I highly recommend. The room was beautiful and spacious, with a huge terrace offering a wonderful view and a perfectly functioning private jacuzzi. The bed and bedding were simply outstanding — honestly, some of the best we have ever experienced in a hotel.
The bathroom was equally impressive, with both a separate bathtub and shower, and everything was beautifully designed and maintained. Absolutely nothing is left to chance.
What really sets The Xara Palace apart, however, is the level of service. Every member of staff was extremely friendly, professional and attentive. From reception and concierge to room service, everyone genuinely takes care of you. The level of hospitality is comparable to some of the finest luxury hotels and palaces we have experienced in France, whether in Paris, Deauville or elsewhere.
We also really appreciated all the thoughtful touches upon arrival: a bottle of Maltese sparkling wine, local products and olive oil. The sparkling wine was actually an excellent surprise — as a French guest with some training in oenology, I found it genuinely very good.
Another excellent surprise was the complimentary minibar included with our Executive Room. This is rare enough to deserve a mention. Even in many 5-star hotels in France, including establishments in Paris or Deauville, minibar items are usually charged separately.
We booked through Booking.com and received an excellent offer which also allowed us to benefit from an upgrade. Considering the quality of the room and the level of service, it was outstanding value.
We also appreciated being able to enjoy our room until 12 noon on departure day without feeling rushed. Even if you are a few minutes late, nobody makes you feel uncomfortable or pressures you to leave.

It is very rare for me to have absolutely no negative point to mention about a hotel, but in this case, I genuinely cannot think of anything that could have been better.

Pas de piscine
We loved breakfast on the second floor. A great selection to choose from, very nice eggs Benedict & our second breakfast was a full English, also very good indeed. We finished our pot of tea outside on the terrace taking in the sunshine & magnificent view. Staff were lovely, especially Ellane & Lindsey. We’d also like to thank Sara, Dennis, Aurora & Sylvia.
There wasn’t anything that we didn’t like ☺️ The beds, pillows & linen were 5⭐️, fantastic night sleep, it was like sleeping on a cloud.

Unfortunately outside the hotel some miles away there is an outdoor nightclub making noise until very late. This was outside of the hotel's control

While we were staying at the hotel, there was a power failure that affected 5 cities includeding Mdina. The Xara Palace has a generator and was the only building in the area that had power. AC included! Having a generator when the temperature is in the mid 40C was amazing.
Nothing to say, the property was perfect.
Our two day stay at the Xara Palace was exceptional. The room gorgeous and spacious, and the breakfast superb. But it was the staff that made this so special, they went out of their way to take care of us, including our granddaughter. Arranged trips and helpful during the day, including great restaurant recommendations, Mdina itself is a special place.

Could not have loved this anymore. All of the staff were absolutely wonderful. Also, dinner at their Michelin Star was one of the best dinners I’ve had in a while. I also was able to try new and exciting wines, there was a Gruiner from New Zealand! The rooms are beautiful too. This is a wonderful hotel and I’ll be back, thank you so much for everything!!!
