We are very disappointed to be writing this review; however, we feel it is important to highlight our experience for any couples considering this venue for their wedding.
We had our wedding booked at the Loch Ness Country House for next year and were initially very excited about celebrating our special day in what is undoubtedly a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, concerns arose regarding the level of communication and the venue’s ability to resolve issues effectively.
A cheque payment we made was not cashed and, when queried, was initially unaccounted for before later being found to have been misplaced in the wrong file. Over a period of eight weeks we were repeatedly assured that it would be processed “tomorrow” or “this week,” but this never happened. This situation became particularly distressing as the cheque had been a gift from an unwell family member, who was anxiously needing to make repeated trips to the bank to check whether it had been cashed as and when the venue had said it would be. This caused a significant and unnecessary negative impact on their already poor health. In the end, I resulted in collecting the cheque myself to prevent further distress, at which point I was told that the hotel rarely receives cheques and that a bank transfer would have been preferable.
As a result of this experience, our confidence in the venue fell well below the expectations set when we made the booking, and we made the difficult decision to cancel our wedding. We contacted the venue to inform them of this, but unfortunately this process only reinforced our concerns. It took three weeks to receive an acknowledgement of our email, despite several follow-up emails and phone calls. We did not feel we were met with the level of professionalism or service we had anticipated and had been promised when we chose to book our wedding here. We were advised that there was felt to be no issue with the communication surrounding the cheque, that the issues came from hire up, which had never before been communicated to us until we raised concerns about the hotel staff who were dealing with our situation. There was minimal accountability for how both situations had been handled.
Our request for the return of our deposit was declined. While we understand and had expected that deposits are typically non-refundable, we had hoped that, given the circumstances and the distress caused to both ourselves and a seriously unwell family member through absolutely no fault of our own, some discretion and compassion might have been shown.
The venue itself is undeniably stunning and competitively priced. However, based on our experience, we would strongly encourage couples to consider carefully the importance of consistent communication, responsiveness, and empathy when choosing where to place their trust for such an important occasion. Perhaps we were just unfortunate in our experience, as we are aware of some great reviews here, but in our situation with hindsight, investing in a venue with a proactive and compassionate team would be far preferable to facing the situation we have experienced.
I had the honour of conducting a lovely wedding at this hotel yesterday and afterwards stayed overnight as a guest and to say that I was treated like royalty would be an understatement, nothing was to much trouble for the wonderful GM Aaron and his amazing staff operations manager Daniel and Chloe, my room (Cruachan) was absolutely perfect a comfortable bed with an en-suite bathroom which had under floor heating (very toasty) my meal was delicious as was breakfast this morning, thank you all so much again and I do hope very much to see you all soon.
A beautiful mansion in fantastic surroundings. The staff were professional, polite and friendly. It’s a pleasure to have crisp white linen on the table and food to complement.
Well appointed rooms with very large bathrooms all with superb views from each window.
I had booked this hotel months before my big trip. It was confirmed. Less than 5 days out from my stay (while I am already on my journey), they said they can't honour this booking because they have overlooked a wedding and there was a 'system error'. I had to cancel the booking on my end and eventhough the funds were returned to me, I lost the transaction fees. Not good when you can't trust their confirmation status!
We loved staying in the cottage with so much space to ourselves. The extra bed sheets were very stained but everything else was great! Dinner and breakfast in the main house were delicious!
Nice hotel with excellent service, but the restaurant was absolutely superb. Alex is a very talented chef, with a very delicate hand, producing very well balanced, elegant dishes with a subtle twist. For example adding a touch of stem ginger and lemon grass to our crab starter and a little star anise and beetroot gel to the chicken ballottine main. One to watch and highly recommended.
Me and my wife were staying in a lodge down at Kiltarlity about 20 minutes away , but the storm had knocked the power out so we decided to find a hotel. This hotel was exactly what we needed . The staff were very friendly and our room was enormous with a lounge area aswell , great shower and very comfortable bed. The bar and lounge area was very nice and very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was delicious.would definitely recommend this hotel.
A large country house surrounded by big trees. A little tired around the edges but still a sense of grandeur. Our room was huge with a comfortable bed and a bath. Good food and friendly staff.
Our recent stay at this hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, my family and I were warmly welcomed by the staff, whose genuine hospitality set the tone for a wonderful experience. The customer service was truly outstanding—every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction throughout our stay.
The room was impeccably clean, spacious, and thoughtfully arranged, making it perfect for a family getaway. The bedding was particularly impressive—luxuriously soft, fresh, and incredibly comfortable, which made for a restful night’s sleep after a long day of sightseeing and activities.
In summary, this was one of the most pleasant and memorable hotel stays we’ve had as a family.
Excellent service, top-notch cleanliness, and a feeling of being truly valued as guests made it a stay full of happiness. We would not hesitate to return and highly recommend this hotel to other families seeking comfort, quality, and exceptional hospitality.
We spent 2 nights at the LNCHH while touring and found it the perfect place for a relaxing stay. The hotel is full of charm, so calm and spacious. The food provided by Alex in the evening (seriously good venison) and Dave at breakfast (Yummy fluffy pancakes) was second to none. The service by Jade, Daniel and Graham was exemplary, with nothing too much trouble. I wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you.
Amazing place, beautiful setting. Graham & his team were excellent, can't fault anything & would definitely stay again. Thank you.
Nice property
Very comfortable.
I emailed and called this hotel and asked about catering for a coeliac. I was rest assured . We booked an afternoon tea. We had a lovely afternoon tea, however sadly on the way home, my coeliac daughter was very ill. So so disappointing when I had checked. Also tried calling and emailing to discuss this and no response.
Suggestion would be to light up the road way to the hotel!
Great food option, multiple cuisine, good internet access and near to the town center.
This was one of the highlights of our two week road trip around d Scotland. The staff were friendly and extremely professional. The food was outstanding and the setting was absolute perfection. We loved the main house as well as the grounds and the little cottage that our family stayed in.
Excellent afternoon tea. A Massive selection fresh sandwiches and very lovely savoury delights. Catered for vegetarian in a very different way. Best non sausage roll ever with celeriac tartlet scoring 10. This was then followed with delicious cakes. We did have to box some of the very tasty fair to be enjoyed later. WONDERFUL surroundings, friendly attentive staff we 4 will return. Thank you for making a 50th for my friend so special.
Gorgeous Hotel and setting...amazing gardens..Huge room...breakfast was fantastic.
Staff were good and room was big but overdue for renovation as the condition was very tired with plenty of wear and tear on it especially for the high price point.
