A Good Choice in Vientiane.
Pros:

The bed was large & extremely comfortable. A selection of soft & firm pillows to choose from.
The breakfast was excellent. An enormous range of delicious options & a selection of dishes to be cooked on request. Good coffee. Central location. Very helpful staff especially one who helped me book a taxi through the LOCA app.

Cons:

Bedside lights were missing (too far away) so I could not read in bed & had to get up to switch off the central light. Bottled water was supplied free on day one. After that I had to supply my own. This seems mean in a quality hotel. The charge of $30 US quoted for a taxi to Vientiane Railway station is excessive.

Disorganized and unreliable service
Pros:

I used to stay at Salana for 5 or 6 times before when I came to Vientiane for business. The rooms are clean and boutique, the staff are friendly. The location is great. That are why I stayed at Salana often. However their service with room booking and at reception are getting disorganized. I had some problems earlier but they were minor. For example the reception didn’t give my invoice when I checked out. I emailed them a couple of times and asked to send it to me electronically. Then they never sent it. The last time was the disaster. I made a booking through email as usual and booked a room for 6 nights stay. The booking was confirmed. But when I checked in, the reception mentioned they had booked only one night for me. She later managed to keep the room for 5 nights, but she said they don’t have any available room for the 6th night and i have to check out one day earlier than I plan. The receptionists (they rotate) do not even properly apologize for the mistake the hotel has done. May be they think this is not their fault but that of their reservation team. Whoever made the mistake the hotel has a responsibility to properly apologize the guest and take accountability for it. I didn’t see any of such behavior with their team. I checked out and asked to send me free of charge to another hotel which is two blocks away. They did, but unwillingly.

I will never come back to Salana again. I have not seen such disorganized booking service at other hotels.

Pros:

Salana boutique hotel in Vientiane is very well located in the city close to the night market, the food markets, the airport, and walking distance to most of the local attractions . Tuktuks are easily available for anything just outside walking comfort. The hotel is upscale. Prices are all in USD. It's not cheap, but it is very nice. The restaurant has a lot of Western options. The room was large, comfortable, well appointed, modern and well maintained. They have an elevator, safe and frig in room, good wifi, and all apurtenances as expected.  Breakfast was very good with a wide selection. I'm glad that i chose Salana Boutique hotel for our time in Laos' capital.
