Great family hotel which is run by a big Greek family. Aristora and her sister Maria were very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean and our room was cleaned and fresh towels every day. We had the Greek breakfast in the hotel for 8 Euro, which consisted of watermelon, breads, eggs, cheese, cereal, meats, cakes, fruit, toast, jams, tea and coffee. The hotel is on the seafront and access to the beach made it a great location. Shops and bars within metres of the hotel. There were no sunbed wars here! Snack and food served throughout the day and a plentiful bar. The seaview rooms cost extra and next time we will be booking one of those.
Aristea and pavlos made us feel so welcome from the moment we walked in until departing.
The hotel was good , some of the staff were great and it has a lot of amenities.
Pool is a good size, a bar and Stalis beach is moments away .
If we come back to this part of the island again we would stay again.
We have just come back from our stay at Neon Hotel. We stayed in room 201. This room had been refurbished and was so lovely! We are a family of 4. Our boys had the bedroom at the back of the apartment. They had their own sink and fridge and a small balcony to the side of the hotel.
We had maid service everyday and regular towel changes.
We had the bedroom to the front of the apartment, with our own fridge and kettle. Our balcony was a lovely size. We over looked the pool and had sea view. All the windows and patio doors had covers over to stop any insects flying in and we were able to keep the doors and windows open. Air conditioning was 8 euros per night. Hotel tax was 28 euros for 14 nights.
We never had any complaints with our stay at Neon. Maria and her family are so welcoming. We were greeted on our arrival at 2am by Maria and her brother. He took us up to our room and carried my case for me, which was a lovely touch! We ate and drank at Neon most lunchtimes and ate out at the many amazing restaurants right on our doorstep. Neon Hotel was exactly what we were looking for. It had a lovely size pool, many sun beds which was always available. Ball games and lilos were allowed.
You walk up the steps by the back of the pool and walk straight down to the sandy beach, where there were plenty of sun beds. There are plenty of restaurants along the beach and water sports.
Neon is at the quieter end, which was perfect for us. As soon as you walk out the front entrance the street is buzzing with people walking to restaurants and the little shops. The main restaurants were to the right but there is a lovely restaurant opposite and to the left, which we ate in both. Further up the road on the left side of Neon was a lovely restaurant called Lokal Eat Greek. They do amazing food and really reasonable. We visited Kostas for the Greek night, Katerina. Hired a car, quad bike and e-bikes and took a ride on the happy train. All in all our holiday was so lovely and staying at Neon
really made it for us. Maria, thank you
to you and your family for making our stay at your hotel fantastic.
Just returned from another fantastic holiday at this amazing hotel. We had a newly renovated family room which was lovely. They have done a brilliant job. The shower is fab. The family that run this hotel are just amazing Maria & Aristea are so lovely, they looked after us so well. I'm so glad we discovered this hotel 9 years ago now. We are so lucky to have met such a wonderful family and we can't wait to return again next year ❤️
Thank you, Neon Hotel. Your location was just what we were after, a proper Crete family hotel.
The staff are so friendly, nothing too much trouble, we had a sea view room and WOW that view!!,
The Bed was large and comfortable, the shower large and plentiful supply of hot water.
Spotlessly clean, pool side food spot on.
Will defo try and make time for a second visit.
Excellent service and very friendly staff. They even gave us free mosquito repellent. Cleaners came every day with fresh sheets and towels.Sea view was good.
Thank you, we will come again.
Perfect location, beach just out the back of the hotel. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Maria and her family were all lovely. Always there to help or share some raki. Will visit again when back in Crete. Thanks very much for a lovely stay and for the olive oil! DJ and Olivia.
When I arrived late at night I must of looked slightly disappointed…
The hotel seemed very old fashioned and needed a lick of paint and a couple of upgrades.
After waking up to the sound of the sea, and the beautiful smiles of the fantastic family and staff who run this friendly hotel.
You are treated as one of the family…
It’s a privilege to have stayed here.
I have absolutely loved every day of my 18 night stay … Maria in the bar and her colleague are so funny 🤣 and have always gone out of their way to talk to me. Also Aresthea has been incredible helping me with issues nothing to do with my hotel stay … nothing is impossible for her help and assistance I am truly grateful.( probably spelled your name wrong… I apologise x )
This hotel is spotlessly clean and the pool is huge and it’s fantastic to have the gorgeous beach a few steps up from the garden!
I will definitely be returning, as soon as possible! There weren’t a lot of other English tourists, however that was absolutely no problem for me!!!
Thank you beautiful Neon Hotel you were amazing x x.
I don't understand why this hotel has so many dodgy reviews. It is a lovely hotel and the staff are so lovely and helpful. Maid service daily and it is located right in the middle of everything and on the beach.
Lovely pool and not very busy so you can always get a sunbed and enjoy a dip.
Yes it is a little dated but it's still lovely.
Would definitely recommend and we intend coming back for sure!
Neon Hotel, Stalis 23/9/23 to 7/10/23
We chose this hotel when booking due to its proximity to a sandy beach, plus restaurants and shops nearby. We were not disappointed. It is a family run hotel and they are lovely. The two people we interacted with the most were Aristea (who runs reception) and Maria (who runs the bar). Dad, mum and brother were also present but we didn’t interact with them much. Aristea and Maria are lovely and would do anything to help you. We asked for sea view rooms once we arrived, and they were able to accommodate us, which was lovely. As it was very hot at the start of the holiday, we were able to sleep with the balcony doors open at night, listening to the waves, which was incredibly relaxing. We did request aircon later on, also supplied no problem. Although the hotel is right on the road, being at the back we didn’t hear any road noise. Also, we did not hear any noise from the surrounding bars and restaurants which was very peaceful.
We spent a lot of time around the pool, which was lovely and also not busy. We did venture on to the sandy beach which was quite narrow but clean. The sea was really calm to start with and so warm and clear. The beach directly in front of the hotel didn’t have sunbeds which was nice. Either side did. To the left they charged 6 euros for 2 (I believe, we didn’t use them) but to the right were more expensive in front of Alexandra hotel. Maria kept us entertained at the bar, which we frequented often. Well it’s 5 o’clock somewhere! She was so lovely. We did sometimes have lunch there which was very reasonable and filling. We usually shared a club sandwich and Greek salad (approx. 12 euros) and cocktails (5-7 euros) or Mythos bear (3euros). Our daughter joined us for the 2nd week and the family were so lovely to her as well. Our rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels and bedding every other day. You really couldn’t ask for more. Breakfast was continental style and more than adequate, with cereals, toast, eggs, old meat, croissants, fresh fruit, tea, coffee and juice all in plentiful supply. All in all we had a lovely holiday and the family were wonderful. Thoroughly recommend.
Very basic hotel but clean rooms. Everywhere outside overgrown and un loved. Grass growing over sun beds. No outside maintenance at all. Pool extremely cold and not used much. Anything ordered to eat comes from hotel next door so no snack bar. Breakfast basic continental but enough displayed. Staff very friendly and approachable but nobody seems to do anything they all sit around like holiday makers while the hotel has lots that could be done to it.Location excellent for restaurants and shops. Only 30 minute pleasant stroll to Malia.
Excellent Friendly service. Hotel is 10mins to Malia and 10mins to Stalis.
My grandson hired a scooter and I rented a scooter/mini quad from a friendly business nearby to the hotel.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Family run hotel.
Rooms were clean, excellent location close to restaurants and bars. Hotel is on the beach.
Will definitely return. Thank you for making our stay a happy one.
I found the people at Neon so helpful, kind and generous. It is a family-run hotel, and when I came downstairs each morning, they greeted me like a friend. When I had to do some really onerous paperwork that required printing lots of pages, signing and then scanning them back, it took ages, and the woman who helped me (and did everything but the signing!) was endlessly patient. When I needed clear directions to the bus, when I decided to stay another week on the day I should have been leaving, the folks at Neon smoothed the way, solved the problems and always with good cheer. One big reason I stayed the extra week was the feeling of being in a place where people cared. I am only sorry that I didn't get everyone's name so I could list all the people who were so good to me! I want to thank Maria for her dry wit and great drinks, and brother Paulo (Panos?) for the milk with caramel sauce and whipped cream and Inga for her great advice and helpfulness in finding me another week's stay, and Aristea as well, and for being lovely and kind, and Mama for her luscious cookies and Papa for his kind smile and kali meras each day, and Anna, who took care of my room.
The hotel is fronted by a lovely sandy beach. There were many days of good swimming in lovely clear water and many days of windy conditions so that the pool was a better idea. The pool was always pristine, and there are free sun loungers around it, with umbrellas, so, if you burn like I do, you can opt for shade. There were two kittens, being fostered by a lady who fed them 4 times a day. Watching them play was endless good fun and added alot to my enjoyment of hanging out around the pool and bar.
My room was clean and spacious, and I had a view of a pool, a garden, the ocean and the mountains! (And bear in mind--I came as a solo traveller---many hotels would have stuck me in a broom cupboard and told me to shut the hell up.) Furthermore, I'd asked in advance about making sure my room had good wifi because I needed to have some online meetings for work, and Aristea arranged it for me--and it worked beautifully. Wow.
I felt very safe and comfortable. Neon has the feeling of an old-style family-run resort that reminds me of my childhood holidays in Greece.
The hotel has a restaurant, (you order at the bar), and my favourite was the chicken gyro pita, which for 5 Euros was a great deal. I saw some monumental salads, too.
The bar was generally quiet, (80's music, not too loud) which suited me because I prefer to have conversations, and there were plenty of days where it was more enjoyable just to stay "home" at Neon rather than going into Stalis. I felt part of a family, and that's rare. I didn't want to leave! I'll be back next year.
Basic isn’t even close to describing this place, dated circa 1975? We’ve stayed plenty times 2 stars in Crete (basic but usable) but never had to leave the property and source somewhere else- we paid again for 2 star property, half the price and twice as good. Reception didn’t care, holiday company didn’t care. Poor service on all fronts! Pictures tell a 1000 words. I can’t believe the people who actually give 5 star reviews are actually real, definitely not what we got!
Perfect time at this beautifull hotel. Clean rooms, perfect pool, nice area, just 1 minute from the beach.
But the staff was the best, the 2 sisters running this are amazing, friendly, kind.
Had an amazing good time here, would recommend to everyone.
Stalída is easy by foot, nice street.
Lovely family run hotel located on the Stalis / Malia beach road. Room was very comfortable & housekeeping was very regular. Hotel has its own swimming pool / sunbeds set in a grassed garden and is complimented by an outside bar. A very short walk and you are on the beach.
Refurbished sea veiw rooms looked wonderful.
I have just returned after a week at the Neon hotel Stalis, 15th-22nd April and I can honestly say I have no complaints, only praise for this hotel and it's family.
Firstly, can I point out, I did my homework on the hotel and the resort. I was aware the hotel was located just outside the town centre and wasn't plush or swanky and I base my review on that. I was not looking for that experience as I prefer more authentic, simple living. If you are looking for luxury surroundings, this may not be the hotel for you but there are plenty of other hotels which are, and doubtless cost double the price and more. If you are looking for friendly hosts who offer the personal touch and do everything they can to accommodate what you DO want, they are here. The furniture could possibly do with updating but everything worked, the room was spotlessly clean and so was my en-suite bathroom. Everything was perfectly functional, there was a fridge and a tv and my bed was very comfortable. There was ample storage and all lights and plugs worked. The WiFi was sketchy in my room but performed perfectly in the corridor, reception and the garden. The garden was lovely and sheltered and just a stone's throw from the beach. I can't comment on the pool as I visited so early in the season it was still being cleaned and refreshed but I prefer to look at the pool from my lounger rather than actually get in it anyway, so it didn't bother me at all!
I had an absolutely fantastic stay and would not hesitate to return. Thank you so much Rousaki family for making my stay so enjoyable.

Oh my goodness ! What more can I not say about this hotel and it’s amazing staff. I booked to stay here the 12 September 2022 for 7 nights for a short getaway. The hotel is family run and all the family make you feel welcome as if you were one of there own. The staff members are all so nice and helpful. I have stayed in 5 star hotels before and have never received the hospitality that I have received here. I never expected this from a 2 star hotel, which deserves 5 stars at least. A warm welcome awaits you at this property. Please go and see for yourselves.
This is a five star hotel among two stars hotels. The rooms and a hotel itself were very clean. The service was great, they made sure our needs were all met. The beach is just few metars away from a very nice hotel pool. And yeah, they serve very nice coctails😁
