Excellent location, very close to the ferry, restaurants and shops. Very good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, good size room with a great view over the ocean. It’s not cheap, but a very nice experience.

Σε μεταφέρει σε μια άλλη εποχή, ίσως και σε άλλη χώρα. Αριστοκρατικό, όλα προσεγμένα στη λεπτομέρεια. Ευγενέστατο το προσωπικό, καταπληκτικό το πρωινό, αμίμητη η βεράντα. Εντελώς τυχαία πετύχαμε το tweed run, οπότε θαυμάσαμε τα ντυσίματα, την ποδηλατάδα και το πάρτυ.
Λίγη παραπάνω προσοχή στην καθαριότητα. Όχι ότι δεν ήταν καθαρά, απλά θα περίμενα να ήταν τέλεια (που δεν ήταν) όπως τέλεια ήταν όλα τα υπόλοιπα στο ξενοδοχείο.

We travelled around and stayed at 4 different hotels during our time in Greece. I was really looking forward to staying here the most as it is such a well established property. Maybe it was end of season malaise but the experience was tainted by the poor disposition of some of the staff. Breakfast service by most of the staff was miserable. Went for drinks on the terrace one evening and ignored by 3 staff standing chatting together, we had to get up and go to them for service in the end. Zero apologies for room mix up, they blamed expedia but certainly didnt find it in their hearts to offer an apology. We would never return based on our experience unfortunately. Find an alternative boutique hotel on the island where the staff are happy to have you and want to create a memorable stay for you for the right reasons is my advice.

Location - perfect! It’s in walking distance of the port and close to the town centre.
Overall a lovely hotel!

Food!
1. Specifically, the sorbet. I ordered a scoop of sorbet and was surprised at the tiny scoop, (see photo), it was the smallest I’ve seen in my life! Small portion would be ok if it was good quality, but it tasted overwhelmingly rotten/mouldy. It’s unhealthy to consume mouldy food, so I alerted the waiter, who replied, “it’s sorbet”. I said I know, but this is not how sorbet tastes. She then exchanged it for lemon sorbet, which tasted better.
2. I ordered “very well-cooked, hard poached eggs” for breakfast and emphasised the special request for “well-cooked; must be firm/hard” a few times, so I was surprised to receive runny eggs served in bowl! This is the first time in my life I’ve had poached eggs served in a bowl. Most unusual. I felt like I was at a girls scout camp.
The first time I sent them back to be cooked and they returned the poached eggs still undercooked and oozy when I poked one, so I gave up on the eggs. Poaching an egg should be a simple achievement for a five star hotel in Greece.
No pool service
3. There is no pool service, so after a few hours my glass attracted insects. It would be nice if they removed dirty glasses at the pool.
4. At one time, the pool was overcrowded with unsupervised young kids dive-bombing and splashing adult guests trying to rest and relax. It was disturbing, unpleasant and not conducive with the atmosphere. This type of behaviour felt like I was at an overcrowded family resort in Greece, which I avoid on my holiday.
5. Most of the time there were no pool towels in the container, so guests had to go to reception to request towels. This was an unusual experience at a five star hotel.
I agree with a reviewer’s comment that staff need training in five star hotel service. A few of the normal expectations were missing because the staff simply didn’t know what’s normal and expected. The Poseidon hotel is advertised as a five star hotel so that attract guests with certain expectations.
One of the hotels that conquered my heart ! Returning for many years and will keep doing it :) Fantastic atmosphere that makes you feel like warm ,welcoming home. Super staff- that became friends, fantastic breakfast with superior breathtaking view. One of a life time experience that makes you to come back yearly :)
