Loved our stay. Front desk staff are amazing-friendly, & so helpful. Appreciated the onsite parking.
Excellent stay. Hotel is clean and charming. Location is fantastic. The receptionist helped us plan activities in Reykjavík. Andrea the receptionist was wonderful - kind and knowledgeable. It was easy to find parking nearby, they also have a parking garage available. Breakfast in the morning was easy and yummy. I would stay here again! Excellent!
Close to downtown - walkable distance to so many fun and interesting places
Nice room and good staff
No on site restaurant
Lovely staff
Great location
la colazione davvero modesta
The breakfast selection was great and the food was delicious. The seating area was small and frequently it was difficult to find a place to sit, unless kind strangers were willing to have you join them or you were willing to migrate to the lounge area, which was perfectly possible.
In my opinion the very best feature of this establishment is its location. It is an easy walk to many restaurants, shops, and views from the shoreline.
There is not a lot of flexibility about check-in times. We had to wait a couple of hours both on arrival and re-arrival for the last night of our organized tour, and paid extra to get in early the latter time. You are allowed to store luggage on-site in a secure location so you can go out while you are waiting, which we appreciated.
We stayed here three nights total during the course of a six-day tour. The rooms are plain but the beds are comfortable and all the amenities are there--iron and ironing board, refrigerators and an in-room safe. Although I appreciated the fact that there is luggage storage if you can't get in your room right away, having to lug my baggage down to the subterranean storage area (none too large) myself was a bit of an unwelcome surprise. The included breakfast is well stocked and tasty, but tends to be overrun by mobs of tour groups and overnight people getting on cruise ships--going later is actually better in this respect. The location, I suspect, is the best feature of this establishment--it is easy walking distance to numerous dining and shopping options.
Great location, close to restaurants and shops. Nice size room.

They have onsite bag storage. So if you arrive prior to check in, you can store your bags while you explore the city. That was very convenient.
There is a hot pot in the room, and we made a cup of soup, to save on some food cost.
Good beds, good shower. Breakfast buffet was good as well. Underground garage for parking the car. From our room we had a view of the port and the Atlantic Ocean
Location borders the nice part of town, if you go the other direction it is not very interesting so that ia something to take into account (go west of hotel, not east).
I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Klettur. The rooms are not big nor fancy, but they are well organized, functional, quiet with comfortable beds. I wanted a place that was walkable, close to bus stops if needed, but not in the middle of the chaos and noise (which the Laugavegur area can be like). Breakfasts were plentiful and good. Right at 7:00, there's a lot of pushy and rude tour bus and/or cruise crowds at breakfast, but everything is great if you can wait until 8:00 or 9:00 to eat. A Bonus supermarket is an easy walk, and a delicious Reykjavik Roaster coffeeshop is just across the street. I highly recommend Hotel Klettur especially for a budget conscious traveler who doesn't want to be any further away from the city centre (like many other budget hotels are). Only criticism would be it would be nice to have one piece of artwork in the room. The rooms are great for minimalists!
Great location near good restaurants and not too far from the main shopping street. The breakfast buffet was always exactly the same and the breakfast staff were not very friendly. They don’t let you take a piece of fruit out of the breakfast room. What difference does it make if we eat it there or in our room later? Aren’t we paying for it?
Central location.
Stuffy / hot room and one one small window so hard to get the room aired.
We stayed at this hotel twice during our trip to Iceland—once upon arrival and again before our departure.
Our first stay was perfectly fine. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and everything met our expectations.
Unfortunately, our second stay was completely different and ended our trip on a very disappointing note. We were given an old, worn-out room that clearly needed renovation. The furniture was outdated, but the worst part was the bed. The mattress was badly worn and sagging, and the bed frame squeaked loudly every time either of us moved. It was practically impossible to get a good night's sleep because of the constant noise.
I went to the front desk to ask for help, expecting either another room or at least some understanding. Instead, the staff member was rude, aggressive, and completely unhelpful. Rather than addressing the problem, he actually claimed that the squeaky bed was somehow the fault of our travel agent, which made no sense at all.
It was extremely disappointing to receive such poor customer service when reporting a legitimate issue. The contrast between our first and second stay was remarkable. Based on our second experience, I cannot recommend this hotel.
Great location and love free parking option. Quiet enough, would personally like to see more vegan options for breakfast.
