Gets the job done.
Pros:

The breakfast selection was great and the food was delicious. The seating area was small and frequently it was difficult to find a place to sit, unless kind strangers were willing to have you join them or you were willing to migrate to the lounge area, which was perfectly possible.

In my opinion the very best feature of this establishment is its location. It is an easy walk to many restaurants, shops, and views from the shoreline.

Cons:

There is not a lot of flexibility about check-in times. We had to wait a couple of hours both on arrival and re-arrival for the last night of our organized tour, and paid extra to get in early the latter time. You are allowed to store luggage on-site in a secure location so you can go out while you are waiting, which we appreciated.

Good location and value.
Pros:

They have onsite bag storage. So if you arrive prior to check in, you can store your bags while you explore the city. That was very convenient.

Cons:

There is a hot pot in the room, and we made a cup of soup, to save on some food cost.

Short trip to Iceland to drive the Golden Circle
Pros:

Good beds, good shower. Breakfast buffet was good as well. Underground garage for parking the car. From our room we had a view of the port and the Atlantic Ocean

Cons:

Location borders the nice part of town, if you go the other direction it is not very interesting so that ia something to take into account (go west of hotel, not east).

An Uncomfortable, Noisy Bed
Pros:

We stayed at this hotel twice during our trip to Iceland—once upon arrival and again before our departure.

Our first stay was perfectly fine. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and everything met our expectations.

Unfortunately, our second stay was completely different and ended our trip on a very disappointing note. We were given an old, worn-out room that clearly needed renovation. The furniture was outdated, but the worst part was the bed. The mattress was badly worn and sagging, and the bed frame squeaked loudly every time either of us moved. It was practically impossible to get a good night's sleep because of the constant noise.

I went to the front desk to ask for help, expecting either another room or at least some understanding. Instead, the staff member was rude, aggressive, and completely unhelpful. Rather than addressing the problem, he actually claimed that the squeaky bed was somehow the fault of our travel agent, which made no sense at all.

It was extremely disappointing to receive such poor customer service when reporting a legitimate issue. The contrast between our first and second stay was remarkable. Based on our second experience, I cannot recommend this hotel.

Would stay again, for sure!
Pros:

Great location and love free parking option. Quiet enough, would personally like to see more vegan options for breakfast.

Great location, amazing staff, and breakfast to start your day.
Pros:

I loved the location of the hotel.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly.
I benefited from being able to use the suitcase room.
Our shower did not work on the second day but the staff was very helpful and offered multiple solutions for us until they were able to fix the water pressure the next day.

Cons:

I was not a fan of the breakfast but they did have a lot of options with both hot and cold foods. I look more for pancakes or waffles which they did not have. They did have oatmeal and fresh baked pastries. They had more of an English breakfast style with hot beans, eggs, and sausages.

Filthy room
Pros:

Filthy. The desk chair was so badly stained we did not sit on it once. One night table smelled like piss. There were brown stains in the curtains. There was dust, sand and filth under the bed and in door treshold crevices etc. Shower sealant was moldy. Bed sheet had holes in it.

The hotel has not seen renovations since the 90’s by the looks of it. And that would OK: hotel can have older furniture etc. as long as they are well maintained and clean. Which is not he case in Klettur.

We will never stay there again, that’s for sure. I’m surprised there are so many overly positive reviews in Tripadvisor…

The breakfast was pretty basic, 2 out of 5, but the problem was it was at the max capacity every morning and plates, utensils and different food items were running out before the staff could replace them. Customers were supposed to bring their dirty dishes to carts themselves, something not everyone did.

Only positive was the parking carage (free if you book directly online). The main street is a kilometre away, so debatable if that is a walking distance. One of the best restaurants in town, Reykjavik Kitchen, was just 2 minutes walk away.

In conclusion: one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in, both globally and in Reykjavik where I have stayed in several different hotels. I would advice the management to make an effort.
