We stopped enroute to the West for a meal in their bar . Unfortunately the food was of very poor quality . We were a party of three having 2 roast dinners and a chicken curry .
Overloaded with carbs and the gravy was , in my opinion. basically water with a “ Bistio” mix ! Tasteless
The chicken curry was inedible ! Sent it back
Asked for our constructive comments to be passed onto the chef
I was asked by staff , who were lovely , if I wanted something else but I politely declined
Won’t be back and will not recommend
We had dinner in the Creggan Court in Athlone yesterday the 12th November & we were very disappointed. The lamb I received was very fatty & also was the bacon my Mother ordered. The bacon also was very tough & my Mother got it very difficult to cut it. Also the vegetables were very under cooked. We paid a good price for the meal & it would be nice to have had it edible. We will not be back.
Excellent carvery lunch. Just the thing to keep you going on the road. The food is very tasty, fresh and well presented. Like it very much. This is also a comfortable place with plenty of parking and so convenient.
My daughter and her friends had 2 rooms booked for Friday night 1st April. They booked direct with hotel, They travelled from Donegal, arrived around 7pm to be told their rooms were gone. The hotel said they had sent an email to tell them of the cancellations. Email was never received. DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOUR FROM A HOTEL SHAME ON YOU, A PHONECALL REGARDS THE CANCELLATION WOULD HAVE BEEN MANNERS.
Stayed here again for my birthday getaway with my pal who organised.. after many enjoyable stays pre corona...wonderful efficient and friendly welcome by staff as always..surprise refurbishment which was lovely especially rooms..such comfortable beds and very tasteful appropriate decor..had 2 night stay..staff as always couldn't do enough in bar and reception..always such comfortable and enjoyable stay..see you again ASAP.. thanks for lovely weekend..nxxx
Room was small but clean and recently refurbished. Carvery in bar was average, bar was very open and lacking atmosphere and most diners were construction workers. Was woken at 2:30am by young guys retuning to their rooms. Noise continued for at least an hour. Wouldn't be rushing back.
Stayed one night at short notice and found check-in quick and friendly. The room was nice and clean with a good quality bed. It was a bit noisy (generator or water system?) overnight and when I popped down the bar at 10.15pm it was closed. overall fine for a short stay.
Stayed here for one night and very impressed with how close to AIT and motorway. Was booked by Philip who was very nice and accommodating. Had food and a drink in the bar, lovely atmosphere and food was enjoyable. All staff was very welcoming. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
I stayed here for 1 night while away for work, have stayed here loads in the past and it was excellent as always. The newly decorated rooms are a real treat, very modern and cosy. Can’t fault it, very handy location near motorway and petrol station.
I chose the CCH, because of its location right in centre of Ireland and easy access to motorway, and reasonable prices. I'm so glad I did.
My room was modern (USB plug sockets and large telly for instance) and clean (spotless bathroom), with generous tea/coffee packages. The bed was comfortable, with plenty of storage spaces and cupboards. My only criticism is that the room's was ventilation wasn't great and air was 'sinusy', the only option to get fresh air was to open the window (which only opens slightly); however the hotel's location means get a lot of outside noise, so any would-be guest may want to take a small fan with them (there's no AC or fan in the room).
However this only a minor quibble. Overall I had a pleasant staff. The staff were all helpful, friendly and professional. I often saw the manager about, who came across as an approachable chap. I would recommend the breakfast at the hotel-- generous variety of food and portions which set me up for the day.
The hotel also has a Texaco fuel station across the car-park, with a McDonalds and small food shop. There's a pizza takeaway, DIY store and Carphone Warehouse (for VAG group drivers, there's a dealership and garage around the corner too). The charming town of Athlone is a couple of miles away.
CCH is the perfect base for exploring Ireland, being in the geographical centre of the Ireland, within a couple of hours Dublin or Shannon airport, or Dublin seaport. If I visit the Repulic of Ireland again, I will be sure to stay at the hotel again.
Hotel was lovely, located very close to Athlone town centre about a 10 min car journey. Rooms were lovely really spacious and clean, Staff were excellent and the food was absolutely delicious!! Would recommend will definitely be back
To celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary our Daughter & Son booked a weekend for us all in the Creggan Court Hotel 3 rooms in total . They chose this hotel because it has pet friendly option so we could bring our dog with us .
On arrival to hotel it looks tired , the bin at front door was overflowing and there were cigarette butts littered everywhere, but once inside we received a very warm friendly welcome and we were checked in quickly, every member of staff we encountered were very polite and friendly during our stay .
In our room as requested by our children there was a bouquet of flowers and Prosecco for us and a welcome card from management congratulating us on 25 yrs of marriage easy mistake to make I guess .
Our room was at the back of the hotel it was spacious, comfy beds , it was very clean except for a few stains on carpet, the showers in all 3 room were impossible to regulate , the water was scalding. The walls are very thin and noisy people in room beside us were banging doors & screaming on Friday night but that’s no fault of the hotel however the fiddle playing in the early hours on Sunday morning (which is really taking the Mick) … and which was reported to reception twice now that is up to the hotel to sort out but nothing was done and it really wasn’t good enough !!!
Room was very warm to the point of being stuffy , so warm we thought radiator was on but it wasn’t even with windows open it was very stuffy however we had to close the windows because of the boy racers racing up & down a road nearby until well after 3am , now this is no fault of the hotel but handy to know before you book.
Food in hotel is lovely & great value for money and great choice however if you are coeliac you’ve a very limited choice the starters you can choose chicken wings or Cesar salad and from the mains options you can have steak or salmon. The Restaurant staff are fantastic , warm , welcoming & really friendly.
Over all despite lack of sleep we made the most of our stay but alas we won’t return due to the issues we encountered which is a pity as it’s ideally located outskirts of Athlone .
The Staff are the highlight of this hotel well done guys !!!!
The hotel overall is good, rooms are decent for the price it’s clean and the beds are comfy, with a good sized bathroom too. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the restaurant serves good food for a fair price despite being quite a limited menu. However there is one huge draw back that means I would absolutely advise anyone against staying at this hotel. The car park to the front of the hotel and adjacent McDonald’s is the meeting point for the local idiots. Boy racers screaming up and down from about 5pm, all night (and yes I mean all night, I was woken up at 4am) will leave you exhausted. I’m working in town and have been here for 12 nights so far and I’m giving serious thought to finding another hotel for my last week so I can at least get some sleep. Such a shame because apart from that I would rate the hotel 4 stars, however the hotel say their hands are tied and I think as long as the local police (gards) are happy all of the village idiots are in one place they let them freely drag race around the area as they see fit.
Brilliant stay!!
Myself and two friends visited the creggan and from start to finish the staff were amazing.
We ate both nights and what can I say the standard of food was out of this world. I've had many hotel breakfasts however, this one topped them all
Cant wait to come back
Omg I'm so happy with this hotel it was perfect I can't complain at all roast beef dinner was the best ive ever tasted breakfast beautiful pity I didn't make it to our 2nd one to meny drinking the night before so raging but will deffo come back with more people sorry for bad picture of the food but I was enjoying it so much I took last picture of ter beautiful chips
We stayed here for a few nights. The rooms look like they have been recently carpeted & new curtains too. Blackout linings meant the room was nice and dark! Which was a great help as there was a heatwave so it was roasting! Breakfast was top notch and we ate there in the evenings too, the food was lovely.
Great value hotel in a great location with very helpful, accommodating, and friendly staff! We will definitely return.
Spent two nights in the Creggan court hotel while in Athlone cycling the greenway to Mullingar.Situated in a retail park just off the motorway.Clean basic rooms, good breakfast, friendly staff, hard to fault particularly for the very reasonable rate for our stay.
Had bar food one evening and it could have been better, fish was very soggy with frozen skinny chips.
Ideal base for exploring Athlone and its surrounds,we done the greenway, visited Portlick forest trails,Clonmacnoisse and enjoyed some shopping in Athlone itself
We would return if in the area again.
Lovely staff & lovely hotel. We dined here on the second night and the food was delicious and the service was great.
Michael the barman/waiter was so friendly and made our stay so enjoyable. A credit to the hotel.
We can't wait to return.
Thank you from Carmel & Tommy in Galway
Room nice and clean. Very efficient in times of COVID. Also thank you to the gentleman receptionist who got us a taxi in off peak hours at short notice. Fantastic customer/guest care. Hotel very close to main roads for easy exit (exactly like Wexford footballers from League competitions).
I recently stayed here for business, back to some sort of normality. First all the location is excellent, easy to locate
I was greeted by a lovely girl, Grace, who couldn’t do enough for me. She is definitely the type of person every hotel needs on their front desk
The room was then spacious and spotless which is what people are looking for in the current climate.
Next time I hope to sample both dinner and breakfast. The parking situation isn’t the best but I don’t think there is much the hotel can do about that. Certainly nothing to get worked up over.
Looking forward to coming back
