Comfortable, warm and great check in time.
Pros:

Very comfortable room, liked the check in time, clean and top floor so was quiet. Heating was great and the room offered real comfort from the horrible weather outside.

Cons:

I was given a key card for room 31 that opened room 30 and had to make sure they didn't allocate someone to room 30 due to the card key issue.

I would say my stay this time was just ok , however we’ve enjoyed it more on previous visits .

We paid for breakfast in the morning separately and really enjoyed it !

We was disappointed with our room size as we’ve booked on 3 other occasions and had a bigger room given to us . We found it was set up for single occupancy for our stay as only one off everything in the room . Towels / tea cups . I booked a meal online for 9pm dining eating / drinking and when arrived at the bar at my booking time was told all food stopped at 9pm , very confused as I showed the bar staff my booking slot for 9pm and was told nothing he could do as no staff cooking after 9pm .we did get a takeaway and was able to use facilities down stairs and enjoyed a drink from the bar ! Shame really as we always enjoy our stay at this hotel when visiting for the parkrun and the football at the riverside stadium.

breakfast poor on Sunday when we were leaving, no hot water for tea making, orange juice ran out, croissants were stale, had to ask for our key to be re-instated even though we were leaving at 11am and it was only 9.30am

Cons:

I visited hotel to establish availability, they got me to book on booking.com.
Toilet did not work. Previous occupants poo there. Receptionist came up and had to forcefully push both flushes to drain. Subsequently per the picture the flush did not work.
Soap dispenser above washbasin in bathroom was empty, it was reported, nothing was done about it.
Heating temperature controls, it was boiling hot in room, thermostat control did not work. Another visit to reception revealed temperature was controlled centrally, had been set at 30degrees C.
Clothes moths seen in hallway and in room.
Noise repetitive thudding sound in morning.
At breakfast marmalade jelly had mould on it. See pictures.
Breakfast table cleared before finished, delays caused by them in breakfast due to need for complaints
Key to door not worked, Another trip to reception to get it fixed.
Condensending attitude from staff, not attending to faults reported.
Toilet roll stored very close to Toilet seat, picking up spray from flushing toilet did and urnirating standing up, not clean nor hygienic.
Reception referred me to booking.com to address complaints.

Value for money. Met the requirement for the purpose of staying
Pros:

Location was very practical for the reason we stayed at the Highfield.
Staff friendly and accommodating if you have additional requirements.
Breakfast continental and cooked available, good selection.
Evening meals also good selection and value for money.
