Same annoying story, different visit. Front desk staff sour the experience.
Pros:

I have continued to frequent Boulan despite frustrating interactions with staff, lack of responsiveness and dismissive behavior or simply unpleasant interactions with hotel staff. The bellmen, valet and housekeepers are excellent. I return due to the in suite laundry, location and balcony. I usually split my stay between Brickell and SoBe and have visited 5 times this year, but the hotel doesn’t seem to value loyalty.

Cons:

The front desk staff on the day/evening shift need to be replaced by staff who genuinely care about their guests. I asked for hangers 4 times. There wasn’t a single one in my suite. I told front desk twice that I chose to stay with them again for my birthday, or that it was my birthday— not a smile, not a single happy birthday. When requesting items, I was often ignored or pacified with an answer with no follow through. On my fourth attempt to obtain hangers, I spoke with the day manager who was very sweet, always smiling… and she apologized and made me finally feel seen/heard. She said she was having something sent up for me, however 3 hours later, still nothing. When I called downstairs to inquire, the male employee was very short and condescending and made me feel like I was being impatient. It soured another experience with Boulan, it is a shame, because I have tried over and over (different visits)to be patient, understanding and remain a loyal guest. My expectations are to be seen, heard, valued, acknowledged and appreciated as a valued guest. To have staff smiling, attentive, respectful, accommodating and welcoming.

On my last day, I was unable to remain as a guest at the hotel as they were booked solid for a convention. I returned and asked if I could pay to store my luggage until my transport to the airport-4 hrs. The male front desk person who I dealt with for the previous 4 days of my stay(multiple interactions), didn’t remember me, couldn’t remember my name or who I was and literally took 5 minutes to look me up in the computer from the day before— it was embarrassing and I felt like I was invisible. He treated me like a homeless person off the street. They declined to accommodate my simple request. This was not the experience I expect.

Pros:

The Boulan was a beautiful hotel, felt really luxurious, and made our time in Miami very comfortable. The rooms are stunning and the staff are so lovely.

Cons:

The only complaint I would have is that you get 2 beach chairs included in the booking, but you need to buy the umbrella for shade yourself. It would be very uncomfortable to use the chairs without shade, so this arrangement does feel a bit like a money grab. You also feel like an inconvenience when you arrive to the beach and ask for the umbrella, the staff located there don't seem to enjoy their job.

Pros:

Location was great. Valet parking was nice. Room was very large compared to comparably priced options.

Cons:

Our couch in the terrace suite was in very poor condition. The bed mattress also had very bad dips and hurt our backs.
