Everything was perfect!
Odlična lokacija ,vrlo čisto i ljubazno osoblje.Izvrsni sadrzaji.
Izbor i kvaliteta namirnica posebno na večeri ali i na doručku bi mogla biti puno bolja i ne odgovara izvanrednim ocjenama doručka sa bookinga.
Hotel közel a sípályákhoz. Kellemes illat és tisztaság fogadott minden nap. A személyzet kedves és szolgálatkész. Az étteremben változatos, ízletes ételekből válogathattunk. A társalgó a kandallóval, a hegyekre néző kilátással nagyon hangulatos.
Location
Staff not friendly, nicotine smell in the room, bad food quality
We stayed at the hotel for four nights with our family and our dog, and went home with quite mixed impressions.
For ski resort users, the hotel has an excellent location—the slopes are just across the road, and free parking is available for guests. The reception staff are also friendly—but that’s where the list of positive impressions ends.
The hotel was apparently built in 1974 and, visually, hasn’t changed much since then. The guest experience is probably much the same as it was over 50 years ago, because due to the exterior (and interior) of the accommodation, guests get the feeling they are competing in the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics. The architectural design strongly resembles accommodation facilities from that era on Jahorina or Bjelašnica. Alongside the archaic part, the complex also includes a newer section built in 2002, which likewise hasn’t changed significantly since then.
Despite all this, the hotel is excellently integrated into the Gorenjska tourist area. Like many other attractions in Kranjska Gora, Bohinj, and Bled, it operates on the principle of “charge premium prices, but invest nothing into the experience.” They have successfully followed this guideline for over fifty years—and honestly, it works very well for them.
The first peculiarity is the ski lockers located in the basement. Apparently, they are considered quite an exclusive service, since only one locker is provided per room, and it can hold just two pairs of skis and two pairs of ski boots. Luckily, no one in the hotel snowboards, because it’s impossible to fit two snowboards into the narrow ski slot. That said, additional complaining at reception did result in being granted a second locker, albeit with the receptionist doing so very reluctantly.
We paid an extra €15 per night for the dog, which is quite a reasonable amount. The notice in the house rules stating that “the owner is responsible for any damage caused by the pet in the room and must pay for it” also seems perfectly appropriate at first glance. However, it takes on a whole new dimension when you enter a room with your pet that, judging by its appearance and condition, hasn’t been renovated since 2002. The depreciation value of the furnishings in such a room is practically zero, and even if my pet were a bark beetle, it couldn’t realistically cause any actual damage to the hotel. The room’s appearance truly does not justify the hotel’s four-star rating—it leans much more toward an average three-star standard.
That doesn’t stop the hotel management from charging extra for everything. Despite having a pool located in the newer part of the complex, guests are not entitled to wellness towels. These must be rented at the pool reception for €3 per towel, and they must be returned by the end of the day to a designated basket. Even though this cost can easily rise to €10 per day for a small family, the staff justify it with the cost of laundry. Why guests are not allowed to take the towels to their rooms and use them for several days is something they refuse to properly explain, citing house rules instead. Clearly, the pool reception staff must be very well paid, as they perform their towel-monitoring duties very diligently and with great dedication—which is, of course, good for them.
The most bizarre part is that their superiors have apparently convinced them that this practice is standard in all four-star hotels—which we know is not true. I personally visit several such hotels every year, and nowhere else have I been charged for wellness towel use on a daily basis. This is simply how tourism is done in Gorenjska.
The next surprise came at dinner: we paid almost €9 for a Cedevita and a beer. We assumed this amount would be justified by the service, but we were disappointed. The Cedevita was served in a plastic bottle (Cedevita To Go, the same as sold in stores), and when it came to the beer, the waiter asked whether I would drink it from the bottle or from a wine glass. Excuse me?
This experience clearly illustrates the state of tourism here—we pay for natural assets, not for hospitality or hotel service. It will be interesting to see what tourism looks like in 20 or maybe 30 years, when nature turns the tables. There will be less snow, and the ski resort might no longer be across the road. Will a hotel operation from a previous system wake up from its slumber then and realize that premium prices require premium service? Maybe. Or maybe by then it will already be too late.
If nothing else, in true Slovenian fashion, we’ll be able to complain then—about how everything is falling apart and how there are no guests anymore. And about how everyone else is to blame for the situation—domestic and foreign guests alike, politicians, and investors.
Our time here was excellent! The hotel looked really nice and the outside view was incredible.
