Skala Hotel

We had an amazing stay at Skala. The room was really cool and roomy and very clean and modern. The pool and bar area were fantastic and the sunset and general view outstanding and will stay with me for a lifetime. A very exceptional experience and lovely family that own and run it

no food at the property other than breakfast in the morning. they say there’s an all day menu, not true. the poolside bar rarely has someone working there and it is very hard to find someone to talk to

Really enjoyed my stay in skala hotel. The staff are beyond friendly and helpful and did everything to make our stay perfect. The views from the room are absolutely beautiful, couldn’t fault this hotel. We will definitely return in the future.

Such a beautiful hotel, staff were amazing made you feel at home and couldn’t have done enough for you! So central and extremely affordable. Central hotel with gorgeous views. Highly recommend. Came from Ireland and would most definitely return.

Everything is Great about this place, especially the view of the Town, except for the 1 Kilometre walk up a Very Steep Hill!! Made me only want to walk down and back into Chora once a day because of it…
Hire a Car or Quad bike to commute around the island, you’ll be glad you did!!

The kindness of the property owner is evident when you stay here. We were very lucky to enjoy this place in the off season and really get to know some of the locals.

Accomodation consists of separate apartment type buildings. Pool area is first class. Breakfast is excellent with various options. Only possible problem may be the walk back to hotel as it is situated up a very extreme hill.

:) Stayed in Ios for 3 nights and this hotel was perfect. Room was spacious for 3 guests. Food was great at the pool. Pool was awesome too with the most amazing view of the town center.

:( Our bathroom drains were not draining properly. The walk up to the hotel is very steep hill about 12 min walking from town center.

This hotel is situated on top of the hill and the view is simply amazing, you'll feel like you're transcended somewhere else. There is a fantastic pool, a small restaurant, free parking, and massage services on site which makes it very convenient to not have to leave the property if you just want to take it easy and relax. It's fairly close to two supermarkets for supplies and also Chora with a number of great restaurants/entertainment, but be prepared for a really steep hike. Also, if you are a light sleeper, you should anticipate you'll hear everything next door. I didn't mind this too much as I was fortunately put in a corner unit and slept like a log from all the great hiking nearby. Finally, the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. I didn't know about the shuttle service they have from 10am-3pm and they helped squeeze me into catch a last minute ferry - really kind people! A short walk from the town/restaurants/bakery/shops/supermarket, 20mins walk from Myloplatas beach, free transfers from the port (if you let them know in advance when you arrive), free WiFi, ood breakfast, clean rooms and very friendly staff... and the most stunning view.

The pool was closed when we arrived but we were aware of this as it was early season. The hotel is on the hill so if you have mobility issues you may want to get a taxi back up from the town.

For the price we paid, this was a total bargain and would recommend.

Unfortunately despite email communication to the manager prior to arriving, about a transfer to the hotel from the port, nobody arrived to pick us up. There was also no option to pay by card at the hotel which was slightly frustrating. Apart from that, the staff were very accommodating to help my friend with her injured ankle. The pool and area around the hotel were much nicer than in the pictures and there was vegetarian options for breakfast. We did struggle walking to the hotel from the town as it was very steep, so you will probably need to hire an ATV. We would stay here again.

This hotel is located 3 minutes away from the Chora. The location is perfect and there is a wonderful view for wonderful sunsets.
The pool bar is also amazing.
The breakfast was really good.
There is free parking spot , A/C and wifi .
Last but not least they are pet friendly !

Stayed at Skala Hotel Patmos in June as part of a wider tour of the Greek Aegean Islands. The entrance way to the hotel is through a beautiful veranda of flowers where you will find a large saltwater swimming pool with pool bar on your left and to your right the main building, reception and breakfast area of the hotel covered in beautiful flowers. The hotel staff where lovely and couldn’t be more helpful, the room was immaculate, spacious and very comfortable with a small balcony overlooking a part of the town. Regular cleaning took place, air con worked well and inside the wardrobe was an easy to use safe. There was a huge variety for breakfast which i sat outside to eat in the beautiful hotel courtyard. The location couldn’t be bettered for Patmos, right by the sea and beautiful bay of Skala looking up at the Agios Ioannis Monastery and Chora which should not be missed, couple minutes walk to the ferry, trip boats, bus stop, variety of restaurants, cafes and shops. Patmos is a unique and outstandingly beautiful island with many gorgeous bays and other little islands surrounding it and Skala Hotel and the town was a lovely place to come back to after a day exploring Patmos and other nearby islands.

This hotel is in a perfect location, a two minute walk to the center of Ios and about a 15 minute walk to the nearest beach. Wonderful swimming pool and bar staff. The concierge team was fantastic, especially Kyriaki who was very knowledgeable and helpful regarding the surrounding area. They gave me a ride back to the ferry station at no charge. The only criticism I have is that the WiFi is very weak but other than that, I would definitely return. I had a fabulous time.

Positives:
Excellent location with close walking distance to Ios town, a mini market and to the bus stop if adventuring out. Beautiful pool terrace area with impressive sunset views over Ios and a convenient pool bar with a range of drinks and snacks available - all reasonably priced. There was also a variety of massage services available to pre book during your stay. Super friendly staff that are happy to help. Free transfer to and from the port was a brilliant service included. Hotel breakfast was basic (tea/coffee/juice/egg/toast/pastries/jams) but seemed reasonable at €6pp if you did not fancy the walk to town to find a place each morning. Room had a mini fridge and good AC which was useful. The family running the hotel also own a restaurant called The Mills where they gave us 10% off our meal as hotel guests, we highly recommend using this incentive as the food was really good and great value.

To know before booking:
Our double room (Room 21) consisted of 2 single beds pushed together and an extra single bed to the side. The main bed mattresses were both poor quality and pretty uncomfortable but did the job for a few nights. One out of the 2 was particularly bad and springs has totally gone in the middle leading to poor nights sleep. The room Itself felt dated and a bit grubby. Walls etc needed a good paint. Don’t expect a fresh and modern room if booking here as this was not the case. Simple and basic. Bathroom had a little mould in the shower and the tap fixture in the bathroom was also broken and unattached from the basin. Balcony was very tiny and had a view of the back of the property and a cement mixer - we decided not to use this area. The hotel grounds are located at the top of the hill hence the great views but it is a short and steep walk back up from the town. This was not a huge issue for us but please be aware others may struggle.
