I loved the location, the staff, the layout. It feels welcoming and is very calming.
Unfortunately, the only thing I can moan about is the bed in our room. It was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever experienced. It is she's a shame as everything else was so lovely. However, I did not get much sleep at all due to the discomfort of the bed.
The advertising narrative and images are very misleading as the hotel is on a busy road, it was not restful as traffic and buses use the road constantly.
That was accompanied by a pub next door which played music outside in the pub garden till 12 midnight.
The only saving grace was breakfast and the amazing staff who were friendly and knowledgeable about the local area/walks (especially Steve who was an absolute tonic!)
The room was spacious and full of character.
House is pretty and full of character, very fitting in the location.
Low ceilings in parts of the room, have to remember to duck down if you’re tall.
Staff very helpful and breakfast was very nice.
We were staying on the first floor of the main 16th century cottage. The staircase was very steep and, as one might expect, the doors were very low and there were different levels on the floor - going to the toilet at night was a nightmare, many stubbed toes and banged heads! It was a shame we didn’t have a shower and there was nowhere to hang clothing in the bathroom.
The room was very clean, the breakfasts were delicious and the staff were really friendly
Nothing!
The property and the room were very well presented, characterful, clean and comfortable. We parked up immediately outside the cottage. B&B provided good and tasty options (my wife is vegetarian and the hosts altered the dish to suit her). The close proximity to the train station was very useful - there's no noise and it enabled us to get a train into Portsmouth (via Southampton) without having to navigate the busy and unfamiliar roads outside the New Forest. The town itself is attractive with a small but adequate selection of restaurants.
We had to be aware of the low beams in the room - they are original and attractive but you need to duck!
It is our 4th visit. We really like it and it is close to the station
Nothing

Nice room. Good breakfast.
Parking. No dedicated spaces for residents.
Lovely old building. Unfortunately our room - on the ground floor- was small and had no seating other than the bed. It was, also, next to the toilets for the attached cafe and consequently noise, from the use of the toilets, was intrusive, for most of the day.
The on site cafe, Esme's, served delicious food and staff were excellent.
The room: it was small and lacked space; there were many drawers, but no floor space for bags etc.
Great location, nicely decorated room, easy parking.
Very quiet at night. Great breakfast included and plenty of it.
Shower a little cramped but as it’s an old property I think they are limited with space anyway but wasn’t a hindrance.
Absolutely beautiful period property and room had a really cosy and calm feel in the heart of the new forest. Our room was beautiful in the old part of the cottage we would definitely stay again.
There was nothing we did not like we was made to feel very welcome and doggy friendly.
Spacious clean room in centre of town with parking and good food
Wonderful staff, excellent breakfast
Parking during the day was difficult
Highly recommend Thatched Cottage.
Nothing wrong. Excellent.
