Lovely old building. Unfortunately our room - on the ground floor- was small and had no seating other than the bed. It was, also, next to the toilets for the attached cafe and consequently noise, from the use of the toilets, was intrusive, for most of the day.
The on site cafe, Esme's, served delicious food and staff were excellent.
The room: it was small and lacked space; there were many drawers, but no floor space for bags etc.

Shower a little cramped but as it’s an old property I think they are limited with space anyway but wasn’t a hindrance.
Absolutely beautiful period property and room had a really cosy and calm feel in the heart of the new forest. Our room was beautiful in the old part of the cottage we would definitely stay again.
There was nothing we did not like we was made to feel very welcome and doggy friendly.

Cosy cafe and good breakfast
Room, quite small. The single beds were small singles, more suited to a chils than an adult. The room was quite cold on arrival, though we were offered an electric heater to top up the heating. This worked well, for a while, but later in the evening, the electricity was tripped several times,causing the heater and the tv to cease. Fortunately there was 2 members of staff on the premises who flipped the fuses and restored the power. They said they thought it was a kettle in another room that was the cause. They were very helpful and resolved the situation several times, though this was annoying to us all.
Stayed in the lovely Pouchkin room on the ground floor and it was exactly what we were looking for. Incredible breakfast, as well as service. Would definitely stay again when exploring the New Forest! Thanks for having us guys!
Bed was little soft for our liking but still decent.
Beautiful rooms, exceptionally warm welcome, fabulous food and really friendly staff They even provided sausages for our dog fir breakfast !

Location is fantastic. So close to the station,buses, pubs and restaurant. Staff absolutely lovely. Exceptionally clean and everything supplied to make your stay perfect. Breakfast was superb. Hotel is quirky but that’s what makes it special. If you have mobility problems, there’s stairs that could be a problem if your room isn’t on ground floor. The cottage was built in the 1600s. I recommend you visit Alberos Italian restaurant for a fabulous experience. We loved our break so much we’ve booked again!
Absolutely nothing!
Very good all round. Fantastic location with convenient parking and very good variety or pubs and restaurants within a few minutes walk. The room had a lot of character and was very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the attached tearoom was very nice and provided an excellent breakfast
Quaint and in the perfect location for our 2 night stay
If I’m going to be ultra critical, the bed could do with a new one. But it didn’t detract us from what was a super stay
