Loved the Gudi
Pros:

My husband and I spent 7 nights at this hotel and Loved it! The place was pretty quiet when we were there so that was a bonus. The rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast every morning was a great bonus too.

The owner of the hotel is so nice and friendly.

We will be back for our future visits!

I Highly recommend to stay here if you visit mae rim. My highlight is the pool in the middle of the hotel.
Pros:

This hotel is located about 5-10 mins from Mae Rim center. It was a lovely experience. The rooms were very big and spacious. The staff were very friendly. The pool is in the middle of the hotel, and it is very nice.
Overall, great value for money, and I would recommend staying here if you are spending time in Mae Rim. We will definitely come back in the future!

So happy we choose Gudi. 😊
Pros:

Loved our stay. The Balinese Moroccan style mixed with local flair. Rooms & bath rooms very spacious. Hotel folks are very accommodating& super nice. Even found us a driver for both short & long drives. Conveniently located even though it's the countryside. Across street from the great 3N restaurant. Walked to orchid butterfly garden & tiger kingdom, and elephant poop paper attraction. Short ride (could walk) to Four Seasons, Terra restaurant (highly recommend, little fancy) & Grooveyard (casual & also great).

Nice little hotel close to the Four Seasons Resort
Pros:

I went to a concert at The Four Seasons Resort recently and as I do not like driving at night, reserved a room at the Gudi Boutique: a short stroll from the much larger property and much more affordable. The bed was super comfortable and the sunken shower rather fun. Plenty of parking. My room (No 108) opened directly onto the swimming pool. Breakfast was fine - not a lot of choice but eggs, fruit, mini toasts etc - were all quite good.

Quiet and relaxing
Pros:

This hotel is basic but very quiet and relaxing. From the outside, it looks a bit like a Thai temple. The rooms are simple but clean. The pool area is very nice. They suffer from being slightly out of the way unless you have your own transportation, but there are new restaurants coming to the area (N'Three for example), so this is becoming less of an issue.

Reasonable price,very quiet
Pros:

Small hotel with basic facility. A bit far from city.good price to sleep. Hotel room is a bit dark and curtain is not completely close. Suggest to stay on the second floor. Breakfast is ok but not buffet. Need car to come here with free parking lot. Very slow internet connection ,may be because it is in a middle of hill and nature.

Disappointing Place
Pros:

The Resort was empty, no guests. They put is inconveniently on an upper floor when downstairs was vacant. No international TV Channels such as BBC, CNN, DEUTSCHE WELLE, TV5 etc. Only local cannels and terrible reception. Would not recommend this place. Shampoo etc. not replenished daily, simply ignored.

Unique design hotel but disappointed
Pros:

The resort is peaceful and it has a very unique design of interior and decoration. But...it was not what I expected.

The swimming pool is not maintained and cleaned. There are insects and leaves in the pool. At first we planned to swim in this pool because pictures of the pool that show on their website or booking site are very beautiful and clean but it is not.

Next, it's too dark inside. i'm not sure that it is because we are the only guests in the resort or the atmosphere itself that makes the resort gloomy. Besides, there are many toys in many area of the resort. the owner of the resort may have kids but I think they should keep resort well organized to welcome guests.

For the room, it is beautiful, clean and well maintained. it looks new which is different from the outside that is not maintained. And wifi is very poor.

Briefly, room is beautiful and clean, breakfast is good, but swimming pool and many area of the resort are not tidy.

PS. there is no food selling in the resort so please buy some food before you go to the hotel.

First review of 2017
Pros:

Very impressive with the interior designs of the hotel. Staff are very friendly. The room is cleaned and new towels are being provided everyday we stayed here.

Amenities are well provided, unfortunately the hi-speed wifi was very very slow and easily get disconnected. Please improve the wifi connection.

Another recommended hotel to stay over if you like a peaceful with a sense of a Bali atmosphere.

Lovely experience in Chiang Mai
Pros:

It's a lovely boutique hotel on the outskirts of the city. Tony, and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed our excursions with Tony, and he was there to assist whenever we needed him. The hotel is clean, cute, and well placed for those looking for adventure in Chiang Mai.

Home Away From Home
Pros:

This. Place. Is. Awesome. I cannot say enough about how accommodating the owner and the staff are. They went above and beyond what would be expected of them. A friend and I stayed during the Loy Krathong festival and were the only ones staying at the hotel (which I still don't understand! Everyone MUST stay here!) and the owner and staff member drove us to the festival, stayed with us for hours while we went off to enjoy ourselves and drove us to get food at 11pm and then back to the hotel.

Everything is clean and well-maintained and the aesthetic is gorgeous.

There were free bikes, which I used to explore Chiang Mai daily. It's also close by spas and tourist attractions such as the Tiger Kingdom and Elephant Camp (which my friend went to).

There isn't food on site, but a staff member drove my friend to a nearby place to pickup food one night - get this - for free.

Any day, any time, the staff is extremely friendly and there for you no matter the need and will do anything to ensure that you're happy.

Seriously, don't even think about staying anywhere else. This is it.

Great place to relax!
Pros:

Before leaving Chiang Mai, we spent two nights at Gudi. Although the receptionist doesn't speak English, the check-in and check-out process was fast. I am not sure why, but I got the impression we were the only guests at Gudi during our two-day stay. From the pictures, I actually pictured Gudi being a little bigger (the name "Resort" has a different meaning in Thailand). Although the hotel is small, it is cozy and nicely built to reflect old Thai style architecture. The rooms are built around the really pristine and well kept pool. The room is big and has a separate sitting area. There is an electric water kettle and complimentary coffee/tea. Besides being clean, the room is very comfortable and cozy. The bathroom is also clean and has a great size. The water pressure is amazingly good. Breakfast is included and is tasty (first day it was western style and the second Thai style). They served us more food than we can handle...The only downside is that there is no restaurant in the hotel (they only serve breakfast). For lunch, you may need to walk 7-10 minutes to the nearest restaurant on a busy road (be careful crossing the road). If you are looking for an affordable and pleasant getaway spot, this is the place for you.

A Great Secret
Pros:

My wife and I loved this hotel. There are a total of 28 rooms available, so it's not a big hotel. There are about 10 rooms per floor and the doors of most rooms open to the pool. The pool is beautiful and nice for a relaxing swim, but not so suitable for young children who cannot swim. It is not a place to sun bathe. The hotel is under new ownership for over a year and during this past year many renovations have been made. The pictures shown on its site are accurate. The place is quiet and restful. We liked the "modern-traditional" look of the hotel - much less like most hotels.

Potential drawbacks include the fact that this hotel is not close to any stores or restaurants within walking range. There are a few bicycles available for rent or borrow (check before booking). Renovations are not yet complete. by the end of 2015 they will have a singe suite on the fourth floor for families. This hotel is not handicap accessible. There are no elevators.

Each room is a sort of mini suite set-up which we enjoyed. The place is clean and well maintained (better than what some other reviews led me to believe). The linens were fresh and clean. The breakfast was quite nice, an American breakfast with a plus - better than most AB that we have experienced.

We were a walk in, so they were not expecting us. It took me a bit to find the counter person to check us in. They are not busy with many guests, so there are only a minimal number of employees. They are courteous and helpful. The on site restaurant is only for breakfast.

As of this review there were no spa services available, however spa services can be arranged.

Great for lovers of feral dogs and false website advertising!
Pros:

To start off with, the hotel does not provide rental bicycles, dinner, or spa services. These services are all listed on the booking sites and the hotel's website. I paid in advance through a booking site, so there was no way of getting my money back. A pool is also promised, but please note that this pool is not properly cleaned or maintained. It was full of insect carcasses and perhaps a sanitation risk.
On a positive note, the hotel is decorated with tasteful furniture and sculptures, making it extremely photogenic. However, a hotel is not a furniture showroom, it should also be functional.
This hotel was not.
This hotel is completely unsuitable if you do not have your own transportation. There is no food on site except for an overpriced breakfast (180 baht for a very simple "American Breakfast"). There are no bicycles available, although they are promised on the booking sites.
The dogs are the worst part. They are aggressive and noisy and will threaten you as you attempt to leave or enter the property, for example if you take a walk to buy some dinner. I spotted at least 8 unleashed dogs in the immediate area. They will bark at 3:00 in the morning and prevent you from getting a restful sleep.
The air conditioners in the room seem old and it was not easy to adjust them to a comfortable temperature. The windows also lack blinds that prevent the morning light from coming in (they were held together by clothespins). The hotel has a considerable number of rooms, but only a very small number were occupied. It would not surprise me if opperations were in the red.
I was supposed to stay two nights, but ended up leaving after the first. No refund or apology was offered.

Lovely, quiet, peaceful place with great service
Pros:

This hotel is beautiful, quiet, and everything you need to escape the craziness of the average SE Asia tourist hub. While it is a solid 30 minute drive to Chiang Mai, it's well worth it. The rooms are large, with separate entrance area, bedroom, and large bathroom with walk-in shower. The furniture is beautiful and uniquely carved wood.
I loved the architecture of the hotel, all the statues and carvings, it was great. I often sat by the entrance in a lounge chair reading a book I grabbed at the lobby.
Breakfast wasn't huge but it was enough - eggs, toast, meet and fruit. Perfect portion.
The staff was really great. The cook went out of his way to make us food whenever we wanted something to eat, despite the fact that there seemed to be only 4 rooms occupied at that point.
The pool was awesome, super chill and nice to hang out in.
The location is close to some ATV and bamboo river rafting companies, and the Mae Sim waterfalls.
All in all, I loved this hotel and have recommended it to a number of other colleagues and friends in Bangkok. If you are ok with staying out of town, this is a great place to do it.

Lovely place for a quiet stay near Chiang Mai
Pros:

One of the first things that I noticed when checking in was the amazing architecture and design of this hotel. It felt like I was staying at a historical site. The staff are really friendly and, although English does not bode well, they will do anything for you. I asked if they hire out scooters and whilst they don't they offered to let me rent the cooks scooter for the day.

Pro's:
Spacious rooms.
Friendly staff.
Amazing pool.
Breakfast was freshly cooked for me (they need better fly protection than plastic wrap for the fruit)
Close to some attractions including orchid garden and animal shows. (avoid the croc show unless you like watching a trainer antagonise a croc for 10 mins, stick his arm down its throat, his head in its mouth and then invite you to sit on the croc for tips)

Cons:
You really need a car, scooter or be prepared to pay for taxis to stay here.
Some of the fixtures and fittings are showing their age. One example is my wash basin leaked.
Curtains are sparse will prevent you sleeping in. Held open by pegs.
There were no English channels on my TV. Bring a book if you don't speak Thai.

All up I really enjoyed my few nights here.

Peaceful
Pros:

This hotel is beautiful, quaint and the staff are wonderful.

We had a pleasant stay here, and enjoyed the food and serenity. Be weary when reading about it's location online, it states it is near the National park, which it is but be aware this is a twenty minute drive in a taxi to Chiang Mai city. There is no other way than taxi to get to and from the hotel, as TukTuks will refuse to take you back to the hotel as it is too far out of town. The hotel staff do everything in their power to make sure it's easy to get to your destination and will arrange taxi's daily. They are also happy to book and make reservations for day trips and adventures.

It is clear the hotel is a family business, who are all so welcoming and friendly. The decor is rustic and simple. The chef in the evenings make a wonderful red curry!
This hotel is a bike rides distance to the tiger kingdom, and lots of outdoor explorer style day trip activities.
