The Breakers Diving & Surfing Lodge

We loved our stay at the Breakers in January. Our rooms were comfortable and furnished and decorated in a clean, modern way. The shower was great! We had a wonderful view of the Red Sea from our balcony and the house reef was in very good condition for snorkelling and for our children to learn to dive. The Orca Dive Club is right next door which was really convenient. Staff were friendly and helpful and meals were fabulous. We particularly enjoyed the themed evening meals including Oriental Night with the belly dancer! We had a wonderful time, and The Breakers was a big part of that.

I had an absolutely amazing time and was so well looked after. I spoke to Ahmed Al Kady, one of the main chefs, on my first morning and he could not have been more helpful. He alerted other staff to my needs and everyday they made sure I was eating great food wich was also safe for my health. A different chef also walked me round all the options each evening and could not have been kinder. It really stood out how proud they were of the service they offered and the quality and range of foods available.
Many many thanks to everyone - Andre [ Bobby] the yoga teacher and the helpful staff at Orca for advice and support. I loved the water bottle / refill ethos and my room was always pristine. Thank you so much. I hope to come again and will tell everyone how amazing Breakers is!

A very well run beach hotel, with modern, stylish rooms, all amenities you need and delicious food. It has direct access to diving in front of the hotel and kiting via a shuttle bus. It’s modest in size compared to the corporate Red Sea hotels around it.

4th time at the Breakers but we meet so many people who have been many more times, and one day that will be us.
Always welcoming, always great facilities, always fantastic food and for us always plenty of good diving.

We chose The Breakers Diving and Surfing Lodge for its excellent location for scuba diving, and it didn’t disappoint. The Orca Dive Club is located right on site, with the house reef directly in front of the hotel and easy access from the jetty—perfect for convenient daily diving.
The hotel environment was very attractive, and everything was exceptionally clean. Our room was smart, modern, and comfortable. Staff were consistently helpful, and there was a wide variety of food each day. It’s clearly a popular lodge, as it stayed busy throughout our stay, but it remained well-run and enjoyable.
We also made use of the shuttle bus to reach the nearby marina, where there were shops and a pharmacy—very convenient for small errands.
The only thing we missed in our room was having tea and coffee making facilities, which would have made the stay perfect.
We stayed as a family group of three—grandparents and our 17-year-old grandson—and the lodge worked well for all of us. Overall, we had a very positive experience and would happily recommend The Breakers Diving and Surfing Lodge, especially to divers.

The hotel is beautifully situated — right in front of one of the most stunning reefs in the area. You can walk along a pier that stretches over 100 meters of crystal-clear, light-blue water, feeling almost like you’re in the Maldives. The reef itself is incredible for snorkeling and diving.
For kitesurfing enthusiasts, the hotel offers everything you could wish for — just a short shuttle ride takes you to a dreamlike surf station with perfect conditions.
The food is excellent as well, with the Arabic Night being a true culinary highlight. We would definitely come back again and again!

The Breakers is located in the peaceful and relaxed Soma Bay. When you arrive it feels as though you have been transported to a secret hideaway where everyone there shares the knowledge that this place is special.
Return visitors are the norm; that should tell you all you need to know really.
The Breakers is quietly confident in all of its amenities; everything is well kept, manicured and attention to detail has been paid in every area that a customer might experience.
The standard of cuisine is absolutely outstanding; it's high quality, well prepared, well presented and again, like so many other aspects of the hotel, it's thoughtful. Everyone's needs are catered for.
The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The décor lends itself to the vibe of the hotel; it's relaxed and luxurious at the same time. How do they do that?
Not once was there any hint of noise disruption or dissatisfaction in any way with the peace and tranquillity of the accommodation.
I think the main success of The Breakers is the staff. They are all excellent. Whether it be managerial level, corporate, housekeeping, grounds or kitchen; everyone is friendly and helpful indeed I sat many times with staff members to eat my meal or have a drink with. This gives The Breakers a feeling of community which makes for a very happy camp. Solo travellers are specially welcomed and the diving fraternity are a friendly bunch.
There is also plenty of opportunity to escape and have time away from everyone and everything because there are many places that have quiet little corners for your own peaceful relaxation. There is a cleverly designed programme of entertainment and activity that matches the general vibe of the place. Nothing too demanding; just tasteful and relaxed.
Now for the diving and nature. Prepare to be astounded by the marine wildlife and thoroughly delighted with the care and attention given by the staff of the dive centre. Again, the level of professionalism and consideration of everyone that works in the water has people returning again and again. I spoke to many other holiday makers who have been diving all over the world who regard the experience at The Breakers to be first class.
I know that I will be a returning customer.

Amazing view, great staff and service

This was a great experience. Very helpful and nice staff. Easy access to the reef. Food was nice esp dinners. Laundry service was super fast (when we needed it for a wedding.) Did yoga too, that was fun. A lot of activities to discover if you have time. Too bad we went in July when it was too hot to go out and discover more. Compared to the other hotels around in the area it’s small and that was a great thing because as someone said “you need GPS to get to your room at the Kempinski”, The Breakers was just right.

We’re avid travelers and over the years have stayed in a countless amount of properties across the Red Sea within various price segments. Thus, we can objectively conclude that Breakers is an overall decent but rather average & at times mediocre representative of its niche.
We left with a multitude of mixed feelings about the stay, having experienced a blend of positive & borderline negative impressions.

On the plus side:
- chill & cozy boutique boho vibe
- very responsive & courteous personnel
- nice refreshing pool
- tasteful room decor
- although not adults only per se but mainly aimed at pure quiet relaxation without intrusive entertainment or kids facilities
- enjoyed the cocktail party with a DJ

On the downside:
- occasional room hiccups of repeated nature (A/C & safe box fixes)
- on 2 separate occasions discovered hairs in the food items (one being breakfast cinnamon roll & one at dinner)
- during the BBQ night, saw a coach crawling by the salad station
- prices versus quality of food or beverage items leaves much to be desired

In a nutshell, it’s a decent hotel with its unique vibe & audience and very lovely staff as a cherry on top but certain hygiene related pitfalls unfortunately left an aftertaste, therefore we wouldn’t consider going back as there’s plenty bigger fish in the sea within the same price category.

Delicious food

The accommodation was spacious and very comfortable. The service was outstanding and the food was amazing. If you enjoy snorkelling, this is the place to be!

Only complaint on the room is the bathroom door. It can't be locked and when closed, there is still an inch of a gap between the door and the door frame resulting in 0 privacy in the bathroom. There could as well be just a curtain.

As for a location, there is nowhere to get to the sea directly from the beach. Corals everywhere.

A great chill out retreat. Great staff & food.

Small paradise for me. Outstanding sea view from the room, but it was necessary to ask to change the room, although we ordered with a view, but at the beggining it was with a view of the construction site. Don’t hesitate, ask personal to solve the room!
Very nice and comfortable beach, with comfortable sun beds and lounge areas, always waiters try to help you with any request. For me meters a long pier from which you could dive or snorkelling, I enjoyed every moment of swimming. Good breakfast, nice dinner, every evening some small entertaiment, organizing a stunning sunset coctail on a white yacht.

Great hotel, I would not go if I was not into diving the House reef is not the best,
The hotels is best suites for adult and sport people.
Not much for younger kids.
But the diving is convenient, however the house reef is a not great.

what a wonderful vacation. The food is delicious and varied, the staff is very attentive and friendly. I had a really great time at Breakers and I can only recommend it. The kite house too. The reef is beautiful. I have seen the most beautiful sunrises and I was able to really relax my soul and recharge my batteries. thank you very much for that. maybe see you soon :)
