Enjoyed a couple of nights stay here with delicious breakfast. We also enjoyed good quality meal in the pub restaurant 😀
The staff were very helpful as I had an issue and they were very helpful. Food snd service were great
Hotel is very old and dated. Some people like this of course but some of the bathroom fittings could have been better. The room had holes in the wall, windows were dirty and I just felt it needed a good clean and upgrade.
Charming old building
Location
Very friendly staff , excellent food
The hospitality was some of the best i have ever experienced. The food was great, the beer garden was perfect. Brian and Sue and the entire staff were absolutely the best and will forever be a memorable part of our trip. Yes, the building is old, 1600s. To us, that is a key part of the charm. You wont be disappointed. Dont hesitate. Dont overthink it. Book your stay here.
Super friendly and helpful staff especially Joe and Keri. Lovely owners who chatted with us each night and gave us tips on what to see. Comfortable bed and room.
Really old buildings so don’t expect it to be pristine but it has loads of character and history.
We ate in the pub both nights, the food was good, served very quickly considering it is all cooked to order and was fairly priced.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.
Beautiful building
Very friendly staff
Helpful and courteous
Loved my stay
Staff are warm welcoming and friendly. Food is great especially the full english breakfast. Rooms are clean beds are really comfy. Its a 17th century building with all the quirks you would expect. There is a huge beer garden and parking in a nice village location
From the moment i got there i was made to feel welcome, its a lovely old building with tons of character, even down to little mice painted on the skirting boards.
The chef went above and beyond to accommodate meals and even came out to chat to understand what i wanted.
I will certainly be staying there again and would recommend to anyone.

Rooms very cold
Loads of character and great value for money
Great place to stay. The service from checking in to breakfast in the morning was excellent. Lovely rooms spent 2 great nights here.
Much is made of Dickens' connection with the inn but it's not been dusted or the carpet shampooed since his visit. We were seduced by the half-timber exterior but inside is all very dreary and tired, an upgrade long overdue. Strong bitter coffee undrinkable. Lesson learned.
The inn is very historic and thought has been put into the decor of the rooms. Staff were friendly and bed was comfy. Food was good.
Friendly staff and a nice place. The rooms need modernisation
Our stay at the Leather Bottle was excellent. We were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived. The staff were very friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
The garden area was good, where we were able to eat evening meals in the sunshine and pleasant surroundings. The menu suited our taste, perfectly; breakfast was also good and freshly cooked to order.
We had a nice, relaxing time at this hotel, with reminders and references to, Dickens' enjoyment of his stays there.
A pleasant nights stay. Large room and ensuite. Noise from the bar and pub garden but to be expected as rooms are over the pub , but it was quiet after 11pm. Breakfast choice, cereal and full English which was good.
Very interesting hotel with lots of character. Friendly staff. Poor ensuite, too small, no water power on the shower and basin not suitable for a wet shave.
Comfortable bed but squeaky floors.
Food poor quality
