Hotel Babis

Lovely hotel. We were originally booked into another hotel which we did not find suitable and Hotel Babis came to our rescue.

Rooms beautifully clean and well maintained. Cleaner made our beds and cleaned room everyday.

Breakfast was part of price and very nice. Bread, boiled egg, ham, cheese, tomato, cereals etc plus fresh coffee and orange juice.

Pool a good size and clean with plenty of sun loungers .

Our hosts very welcoming and friendly.

This is only a small hotel . No entertainment but serves as a great base to explore Crete.

Manolis and his wife are very good hosts. "What can I do to help you?" is frequently asked. Sea view room is lovely. Open field between hotel and beach with path at side. Nice pool with good sunbeds. Room is very comfortable with air con, free wifi and a much appreciated fridge. Lovely sunsets. Good breakfast served 8am to 10am. Cereals, bread, cheese, ham, yoghurt, cakes, coffee, organge juice etc. Best side of road - hotels on other side have to use tunnel to reach beach or cross very busy road. We took bus from Chania airport direct to Rethymno. Left luggage at bus station for a few hours while we explored town and then headed out to Scaleta. Buses run every 30 mins or so from Rethymno. It takes maybe 20-30 mins depending on traffic. You should get off bus at the Scaleta Market below the Oasis Hotel and next to Hotel Gortyna. On the other side of the road is the Creta Star (big hotel) and the Hotel Babis. When you exit the bus and facing the sea walk a little to your right and you will find a small underpass - the roof is low so you may have to bend over if 6 foot or over. Alternatively walk further to your right and you will find a large underpass which buses can use. Once through the small underpass turn right again past the car rental etc. Or if using the larger tunnel turn left. Bus fare from town is 1.80 euro. Bus tickets in bus station before you leave or pay on bus. Going back into town walk along to the Creta Star and you will find bus stop there. Buy tickets in advance if possible as speeds up process. A few small bus useful shops in area and a few restaurants. Feel free to ask me questions.

Good local shops with essentials and souveniers/alcohol etc. A few restaurants nearby.

Kleines, familiäres Hotel etwa 10 Minuten von Rethymno entfernt. Ein Mietwagen ist Pflicht, wenn man nicht nur einen Hotelurlaub verbringen will.

Das Hotel liegt zwar direkt am Strand, allerdings war das Baden für uns dort unmöglich wegen der großen Steine im Wasser. Der Strand ist aber sehr sauber.

Das Hotel hat einen sehr schönen Pool.

Sehr freundlicher Gastgeber.
Besonders hervorzuheben ist die Sauberkeit und tägliche Reinigung der Zimmer.

Das Frühstück ist sehr einfach gehalten.

Alles in allem ein sehr nettes Hotel in freundlicher Atmosphäre. Ich empfehle es definitiv weiter!

I really enjoyed the staff very helpful and kind. The pool was nice a beach is close but very rocky and extremely strong waves in late August.
Only thing I didn’t really like was the shower. For a plus size woman the shower was to small. But overall a very pleased stay 😁

Stayed for 5 days with my daughter, and the excellent service from Manolis began before we arrived when he organised our airport transfer at a very reasonable €20 each
Our room was clean and simply furnished, with a sea-view balcony, frdge, safe,flat-screen tv (never used) and extremely efficient air conditioning.
Delicious continental buffet breakfast with traditional Cretan and locally sourced products- yummy fresh figs from Manolis' garden
We loved the pool which was pristine and never busy
Only a few minutes walk from a lovely uncrowded beach with free sunbeds and waiter service for food and drinks. Part of the beach was roped off as turtles had nested and we were lucky enough to see the baby turtles hatching and dashing down the beach to the sea. Such a privilege!
Bus stop to Rethymnon close by. Restaurants and shops also under 5 mins walk away
We had a really relaxing break and will definitely be back.

Very basic. No kettle in room to make coffee etc. Great people running it. Very friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere. Pool good and 3 minutes to the beach.! Fine for a night or two.

Хороший отель в уединенном месте, приветливые хозяева, чистота и порядок, тишина. Завтрак простой, но сытный. Если бы добавили в него овощей или фруктов, отель был бы идеальный, а так - просто отличный.

Nous avons passé 10jours dans cet hotel. Suite à un retard de 4h d'avion nous sommes arrivés juste après minuit , accueil tardif expéditif.
Mais apres cela , bon séjour , personnel sympathique , litterie assez confortable , super balcon avec une super vue sur la mer. Petit déjeuné plutôt bien mais personne n'y mange le midi ou le soir ( pas de restaurant , ils proposent juste une salade ou une pizza ). Bonne situation géographique , a 15min de rethymnon , a 5min à pied de la plage, 3min à pied de resto...

Lite hotell med kun17 rom. Flott utsikt fra rommene som vender mot sjøen. Lite bad. Dusj med dusjforheng. Stor altan til hvert rom.
Enkel frokost. Hotellet tilbyr ikke middag, men kort avstand til tavernaer i nærområdet.
Hyggelig betjening.

Stayed for a week and its just relaxing, friendly and helpful owners. Close to the beach with a decent beach restaurant/bar. Close to bus to the city and arrangement from hotel on the return from hotel to tje airport again.

I have stayed at hotel babis 3 times now and it never dissapoints. The location is brilliant just 2 minutes from a lovely beach. The rooms are basic bit very nice and clean with air con, brilliant views, fridge and a tv with a good choice of channels. Its also close to shops and bus stop which will take you into the busy town if that's more your thing. Price wise I cannot fault this hotel. Very good indeed. Will be using it next year for annual holiday without a doubt.

Hotel Babis is familyrun hotel with a peacefull garden and kind owner. Mr. Manolis and his family try to do their best for the customers. Babis is about 10 km far from Retymnon, and a good choice to explore the area. They have a huge rubber tree in the garden and comfortable hammocks. The beach is very close and you can listen the waves if your room have seaview. Recommended.

We came 4 a few days, and had a great time. Super nice people, very generous and friendly. The accommodation was lovely, and they allowed our visitors to join us in the pool with no problem. 2 minutes from the beach, has wifi. Lovely balcony with view to the pool and beach. The pool is open 24 hours. They also can arrange u a taxi to the airport of chania for 40 euro (probably to herakluo as well). Very recommended

This place was very accomodating and everyone was incredibly friendly. I would recommend it for families, couples and singles. They offered breakfast with homegrown figs and a buffet dinner which was incredibly convenient. It is very close to the beach! This was a great place to stay and a great experience.

The hotel and location is very good if you are looking for a place to relax and just enjoy some good time, either on the pool-side or on the beach. Close to the beach, 300m, nice beach bar with good food and drinks.
Breakfast and dinner good and simple at the hotel.

Wir waren überaus zufrieden mit diesem 2 Sterne Hotel! Besonders hervorzuheben die Gastfreundlichkeit und Sauberkeit des Hotels! Wir hatten ein Zimmer im 2. Stock mit Meerblick!. Einfach einzigartig, wenn man morgens aufsteht, die Balkontür öffnet und einen wundervollen Blick aufs Meer genießen kann.
