I recently stayed at Irotama Resort and had a wonderful experience. What stood out to me the most were the incredible amenities. The pools are beautiful and well-maintained, the beach access is convenient and relaxing, and there are plenty of spaces to unwind whether you're traveling as a couple or with family.

The variety of restaurant options is another major highlight. There’s something for everyone, from casual bites to more refined dining experiences. The food was consistently fresh and flavorful, and the service at each restaurant was attentive and friendly.

Cleanliness throughout the property was exceptional. The rooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces were all spotless and clearly well cared for. It’s evident that the hotel prioritizes comfort and quality.

Overall, I highly recommend Irotama Resort for anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable, and well-rounded stay in Santa Marta.

Cons:

While our overall stay at Irotama Resort was positive, there were a couple of aspects that we found disappointing.

First, the airport transportation service needs attention. One of the buses that picked up guests had a terrible engine noise throughout the journey. The screeching sound was constant and extremely uncomfortable. It was impossible to tell whether the issue was related to the brakes or the gearbox, but regardless, it did not feel like a vehicle that should be in service for hotel guests. When you book transportation through a hotel of this level, you expect it to be safe, well-maintained, and comfortable.

We were also disappointed with how the early arrival situation was handled. We arrived around 11:00 am, fully aware that official check-in starts at 4:00 pm. However, we were told that the room might be available by 12:00 pm and that we should “keep asking” at the front desk. We followed that recommendation and checked twice between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. The second time, the staff member who assisted us seemed reluctant and unwelcoming, which made us uncomfortable and discouraged us from asking again.

If early check-in is simply not possible, it would be better to communicate that clearly from the beginning and set expectations for 4:00 pm. On the other hand, if there is a possibility of getting the room earlier, there should be a more efficient way to notify guests—perhaps via phone call or message—so they don’t have to repeatedly walk to reception in the blazing sun, interrupting their time enjoying the amenities, only to be met with poor service and still receive the room at 4:00 pm.

With some improvements in communication and transportation maintenance, the overall guest experience could be significantly better.
