Ignore the bad reviews!
Pros:

We stayed at Hotel Best Sol d’or on the 21st September for 10 nights as a family of 4 plus my mum! We were quite worried after reading some bad reviews but honestly we need not have worried at all! The hotel is beautiful, really nicely decorated and we found everything to be really clean. The pool and slides were fantastic… we had such great fun (even the adults!). Lilo’s weren’t allowed but they did allow small inflatable hoops. The food was great, always something new to try and if you didn’t fancy any of it then there was always pasta with tomato sauce, all different kinds of pizzas being freshly made constantly (always a vegetarian one and a meat one available) and plenty of salad and chips every day. Snacks for all inclusive consist of cheese and ham or plain cheese toasty, chips, crisps, hotdog, burger, ice creams and nuts! The pool bar staff were amazing! Please ignore reviews saying otherwise… if you’re nice and polite to them then they will be the same back and vice versa! A lot of people were quite rude to them so I’m not surprised they get a frosty reception! We’re English and found the other guests to be a mix of half Spanish and half English, so nothing to worry about there! The entertainment is in Spanish but we still managed to join in and know what was going on… things like karaoke night, Zulu warrior dancing, even the magician, you didn’t have to understand Spanish to enjoy!
The weather was great, it was on average 25 degrees everyday and we only had 2 cloudy days but it was still warm!
The only bad thing of the entire trip was the other guests slamming their doors during the night and letting their kids run down the hallway at 7am… please have some respect for other guests! The doors only slam if you let them!
Apart from that we had the best holiday! Special thanks and hola to our friends at the pool bar… Leslie, Nichols, Amber and Olivia! 👋🏻 love from the ‘Legendario no ice’ family! 🤣

Bad experince
Pros:

We stayed at this hotel for 7 nights on an all-inclusive basis. Our group consisted of 4 adults, 1 child, and 2 babies.
During our stay, many issues occurred.
Upon arrival, one of the rooms had women’s hair in the shower cabin and on the floor, while the other had a significant amount of dust behind the entrance door. On the second night, neither of the rooms was cleaned.
The public restrooms in the common areas were constantly dirty, making it impossible to change the babies’ diapers, even though the cleaning logs were marked as updated.
One of the elevators to the rooms broke down during our stay, leaving only one in service, which was also not in proper working condition, as it made loud noises and sudden jolts.
Now, regarding the restaurant — the worst part.
There is only one elevator giving access to the restaurant, and it does not feel safe, suggesting that regular maintenance is not carried out.
The food was the same every day, with only a few dishes changed to appear “themed.” Service was extremely slow.
One evening, when my niece started crying, one of the waitresses rolled her eyes. The following night, during dinner, we were again treated very poorly, with the waitress literally dropping the glass cups onto the table.
The space is very cramped for strollers, and the staff complain when we place them next to the table.
If you are traveling with children, especially small ones who require a stroller, this hotel is definitely not the best option. The infrastructure makes access to several areas very difficult, and the cleanliness is extremely poor.

What a lovely hotel
Pros:

What an absolutely lovely hotel…It was clean, the staff were friendly and the all inclusive was brilliant.

Comfy clean rooms and beds and an absolutely lovely shower.

The meals were all varied and of good quality and we barely queued for any of them…Maybe a minute at most. The daily snacks were good quality and the self serve drinks were an excellent idea.

There were always sun beds whatever time of the day you went down. Also a great location as an absolutely delightful beach is about one minutes walk away.

There is a little games room for kids as well with pool and air hockey.

The only fault I can find is the pool was absolutely freezing. I don’t mean it was cold I mean you couldn’t stay in it for more than about 20 minutes as it was uncomfortable. But apart from this I can’t find any fault with this hotel.

Yes the entertainment was in Spanish (it didn’t stop us enjoying it at al)l….but that’s because WE ARE IN SPAIN!! People need to stop being so entitled and expecting everyone to just speak their language. Is the entertainment in England also in Spanish??? No of course it’s not so stop moaning when the entertainment in Spain is in Spanish

I don’t think we will ever come back to this area as we like visiting new places but if we did I would definitely stay here again.

Not good
Pros:

We stayed at the hotel for one week for tourism purposes, but unfortunately, our experience was far below expectations.
1. The hotel was not clean, especially the bathrooms.
2. The service was very poor considering it is four star hotel. The staff were unhelpful, and when they did assist, they showed clear dissatisfaction.
3. The hotel had no spa facilities such as a sauna, indoor pool, or jacuzzi.
4. The buffet was disappointing; the food quality was not at the level of afour star hotel.
5. There was no shuttle bus service to the city center, unlike other hotels we stayed in across Spain that offered this facility.
6. Most of the staff spoke only Spanish and very little English. There was no German or any other language assistance, which made communication very difficult for international guests.

Furthermore, we were asked to check out at 12 noon. Unfortunately, we were traveling with children and infants, and the staff refused to give us even one extra hour to stay, despite our flight being in the evening. This left us wandering around the hotel all day, sitting on chairs in the lobby. Even worse, although we had paid for an All Inclusive package, the hotel denied us lunch on the day of departure.

Another very important and inconvenient issue was the lack of restrooms near the restaurant. Families with children had to walk nearly 100 meters to use the bathrooms located either at the reception or near the pool. This was particularly difficult since we had small children who needed frequent bathroom breaks.

Lastly, the hotel offered no evening activities except for live music, which was repetitive and boring, especially for children.

Overall, the experience was disappointing and did not meet the standards of a five-star hotel.

Not the best Hotel
Pros:

Hotel clean and comfortable, but not in the best location for us has a family, Reception staff very helpful. Resturant food was cold but plenty of choice. Some of the staff in the resturant are very rude, and you have to guss what all the food is, nothing has a sign telling you what your eating so good luck. Entertainment ok for the little once, but if your English ya mingh not understand any of it, apart from the songs lol . No flotes alowed in the pool, not ol a bad hotel but would never come back.

Excellent
Pros:

Heading to Hotel Best Sol Dór for the third time (third year) next week. My adult son with Autism loves the slides there, and we are repeat visitors. I had to write this, as the negative reviews are really bugging me. We are Irish, and the staff in this hotel have always been fabulous. The rooms are spotless with comfy beds. My non-verbal adult son with Autism has been treated with exceptional kindness by all the staff, lifeguards are amazing, high fiving and interacting with my son in real heartfelt moments. They call him Juan (Sean) and I adore it. Yes, they speak spanish WE ARE IN SPAIN and I adore the kindness and patience of the staff there. Yes, there is a queue for brekkie at busy times, of course. Come earlier if you don't want to queue. One year we arrived, there was a mistake, we had double bed. I explained at reception the issue, resolved within minutes. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. They ALL speak English by the way, very well too. The entertainment is in Spanish yes, WE ARE IN SPAIN.. I love it, though to my shame, three years coming here and I have not improved my Spanish more than being able to navigate around the area, which is fabulous by the way. small supermarket directly opposite the hotel, bike hire there too, and a long promenade along the beach to stroll to shops and restaurants. Also Aquapolis aqua park on the same promenade. Just beautiful. Excellent place, excellent food, excellent staff, looking forward to our repeat visit this coming 19th Sept 2025. Anyone who says THEY DONT SPEAK ENGLISH .. while holidaying in Spain, should just be ignored. But the kicker is, they DO speak english, very well. Much better than my Spanish ... though that's something I really need to work on. Anyway, I just wanted to say they are brilliant here. Clean, efficient, helpful, organized, kind and wonderful human beings. Keep it up guys, and we will see ye soon. Nollaig & Sean

Very poor
Pros:

Hotel was disappointing, unpleasant staff,
such a shame because this place could be great…should of been great, it was our week’s holiday with family, our two little grandsons both having ASD/ADHD first holiday abroad.
Sadly when one of our grandsons attempted to ask for an ice cream at the bar he was ignored completely by the staff resulting in an adults intervention to get him one, the purpose of letting him do it himself was to help give him confidence & independence, so that backfired bitterly by the unpleasant non response he received.
He is only 9 years old, he also doesn’t speak Spanish, if we had known this resort wasn’t suitable for English speaking children we would not have been there.
This extended to the outside evening entertainment which neither of our grandchildren could participate in all week.
Meal times was something none of our group have ever encountered anywhere else around the world, Ever!
we were all crammed in on staircases, with lifts that people were attempting to get in or out of, buggy’s, people back and forth to their rooms, it was crazy, total chaos, there was never enough plates, cups, glasses or cereal bowls, my daughter managed to get me a bowl one morning, I was elated to get some cereal into it…more disappointment it was so stale it was like rock.
I asked for a pineapple juice at dinner, I couldn’t make myself understood, so settled for a water because she didn’t have a clue what I was saying.
The whole place was such a strange set up…example…we were in a ground floor room, the sun-beds were up to the glass on our small balcony, so odd, no privacy at all, I observed with my daughter who was also in a ground floor room, this woman take the towels off my daughters glass screen balcony and throw them to the floor.
Water aerobics , Spanish, maybe one song that we could understand.
Like our neighbours next door 140, none of us felt welcomed, to the point of trying to understand during conversations why this holiday is sold to families who do not speak the native language?
Don’t get me wrong I know we were in Spain, we always attempt asking for things in Spanish, my husband is much better than me, but this was on another level, bordering hostile.
We took to going out for our meals & walks which is a very beautiful area, once in bars and restaurants we were completely understood and friendly?
But not at this hotel.
The fake grass around the pool is so dangerous, it’s like sludge mud, I slipped, I am a pensioner with a bad hip!
Not great.
Due to us not understanding the evening entertainment it would of been nice to go back to the room occasionally and maybe watch some TV and chill out, it would of been especially useful for the grandchildren too but we are still amazed that there was no “English” TV channels, not even world news, so very unwelcoming.
Every morning I hoped that the fake grass area side that our room was on would be cleaned, but, not once in a week, cups nappies, you name it, all left there day after day.

Plus side, we enjoyed seeing the grandchildren enjoying the pool, spending time with family, in the sunshine and spending time outside the hotel basically.
Cost us more than we bargained for which you don’t expect when you’re all inclusive.

Sorry it’s been a long winded review
But unfortunately it was the view of quite a few English speaking guests that we spoke with during our stay.
Very poor, we would never return but we would to somewhere else in the surrounding area.

hotel best sol dor - DO NOT GO!
Pros:

firstly i would like to mention whilst i understand the hotel i chose is in la pineda and the locals first language is Spanish its something im familiar with even knowing quite a few words and phrases that id picked up over time listening to my boyfriends family, its something i love hearing as most of my sons fathers family speak Spanish i did not by any means think that the entertainment every single night would have been in only Spanish, when i book a holiday in any country i expect there to be at least one night in a language i can understand not to mention nearly every single Spanish talking person could also understand or speak English so this confused me why itn couldn't be in either both or split so the English talking guests could enjoy i consider myself to be a very understanding person and i accept not everyone can speak English but to have not one day where the entertainment accommodated for the english speaking guests is absolutely unfair which when we spoke to a few other guests they also agreed it was very unfair.
i booked this holiday for my son who is 6 so as you can imagine this is the most important part of our holiday and the part i was most looking forward to he was left quite upset and left out as he couldn't understand the songs or any of the talking, even as far and bringing out Elsa from the famous movie "frozen" and having her sing it in Spanish only. this made us feel very unwelcome and not to mention bored.
the entertainment was aimed at 1-3 year old Spanish talking guests with most night singing only Spanish nursery rhymes, of course this meant after dinner at 8:00pm we was in our rooms in bed whilst everyone else was out till 11pm enjoying the entertainment as they was able to understand and get involved. overall entertainment was non existent to us to the point we wouldn't even bother seeing what the entertainment was at night because it was all in spanish it was sad seeing all the children and adults getting up and singing whilst we headed back to our rooms whilst we could sit and watch it tends to get repetitive and obviously not being able to understand it can be very difficult to join in
this led us to spending a good 5 nights outside of our hotel just so we didn't have to go to our room at 8:00pm every night this of course costs money which is not something you want to do on an all inclusive holiday.
ill move onto food, food was very bad and i do not consider myself to be a fussy person im willing to try and eat everything this was not the problem the problems was the levels of salt that was being used in nearly every dish to the point we made it a habit to ask for a litre of Pepsi every meal to quench our thirst after every bite, we did share this with our neighbours in 139 who was really disappointed with the food also and did complain about the salt.
the bread type of food for example to pastry's the bread the croutons and the cereals wore most days completely stale so these would often get left on our plates, of course with the poor quality of food and the amounts of salt and oil being used we would dread going for dinner most nights so we opted to eating at local bars and restaurants which was very pricey and of course not what we expected to do but for around 5 nights we did go out instead of eating in the hotel, we did head to a restaurant next door around a 50 second walk from our hotel called Wisler's a burger place and when they asked how our hotel was we said the food was horrible to which she responded and said we have lots of guests from that hotel who tell us the food is very bad which validated my opinion. this of course costs us allot of money whilst we diddnt have to eat out we felt we had no choice or else we would have been starving.Next the snack bar the wait times to grab a snack or a drink was extremly frustratingn we had to make a rule that if there was more than three people at the bar we would not go up because the wait times wore extremely long this lead to being very hungry quite a few times as it was somtimes impossible to wait so long for any food or snacks to be cooked or drinks to be served.
the menu was underwhelming for all inclusive guests at the snack bar the option for snacks was a hot dog or a burger and the burger was bright pink a meat I'm not familiar with if you did not like those two options you had to pay for the others for example spaghetti or pizzas was unavailable even though the pizza are free at dinner and lunch they was around 9euros which to an all inclusive paying customer the price was quite high for 10 nights the options of a burger or hotdog become sickly and it left us no option but to go to the nearby shop for snacks which ended up costing allot of money. the beer on tap was just throft there was no beer just throft which would leave you no other option but to pay for the beer behind the bar which was not included in our package. overall the snack bar was very poor and could of been allot more fair to the familys that pay allot for their all inclusive prices extremely disappointed.im going to move on to guests, whilst this cannot be proved i would like to say we felt very very uncomfortable and unwelcome at times we was stared at by the Spanish guests to the point we dreaded going out into the hotel or for dinner as you would be stared at for minutes whilst you was eating or even just standing at the bar we would get dirty looks and remarks and if we moved out the way or let anyone past to be kind we was not acknowledged or thanked and this is the same experience we shared with 139 our neighbours who also booked through you, the hotel was like a "Butlins" for the locals which is by no means a bad thing as i love Butlins but it felt as though we shoud not have been there and should not be put up as a resort aimed at people from other country's visiting for a holiday but rather as a resort for local Spanish speaking familys who want a short break whilst you cannot control which guests and what guests come to the hotel you can advise that it is aimed at locals and Spanish talking family's and that if you don't speak Spanish you will struggle.whilst we had the chance to complain to staff we felt as if we couldn't as we didn't have the right because of how badly we was made to feel unwelcome and because the majority of guests id say nearly 80% was Spanish speaking we felt it was unfair to complain about the entertainment.
moving on to an incident we had where we allowed a cleaner into our room, she made remarks under her breath and sighs and continuously nodded her head in disgust making us feel really embarrassed this caused us to leave to do not disturb on our door so she couldn't clean our room for three days because we was so embarrassed and made to feel awkward eventually we would leave the do not disturb sign on our door until we left so we diddnt have to experience it again, again we didn't want to complain as we rant really the type to complain and felt like we couldn't as i mentioned before we was looked at in a way we felt unwelcome.overall our family holiday we had been looking forward to for over 7 months had been ruined by things that could have been easily changed, we was let down, id like to mention that outside the hotel we really enjoyed our time in la pineda its beautiful and a great location its a shame the hotel was not as great. we have come away rather unhappy and at a lost not only from the bad memories but the amount of money we had to spend to make up for the hotels mistakes.
this was a complaint i wrote to love holidays - do not go here if you do not speak spanish!!

Pros:

This has to be the most unwelcoming, unfriendly hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
The rooms are tiny, air conditioning doesn’t work. We were checked in and then had a family walk in as they were given keys to our room at the fault of the reception staff. They then later deactivated our room keys so we couldn’t get back in. When I approached the desk the man on reception was rude and sarcastic. The hotel pool is not well maintained, dirty around it and under sun beds etc was not cleaned well if at all. There was an area that had sludgy mud coming up from the fake grass. It was horrible.
The food was bland and boring. My 7 year old spent a night vomiting from an undercooked burger. From reading other reviews it seems we are not the only ones to have this.
The queue for meals is ridiculous. Queues up the stairs with people trying to get past to get to their rooms. Dirty plates, no bowls. Forget trying to get a glass for a drink with breakfast it’s not happening.
The hotel does not cater for English tourists Infact it’s very hostile towards us. I wouldn’t go back if you paid me.
The surrounding areas and the beach are lovely. Would go back to La Pineda but not this hotel.

Pros:

Such a beautiful hotel, however not very welcoming with non Spanish guests. No one smiles. Breakfast is a shambles. Have been to multiple different countries but this place without a doubt has never made us feel more unwelcome.

The air con doesn't work. The rooms are far too hot and tiny too.

Would not recommend at all.

A nice review. also honest.
Pros:

I recently stayed at Best Sol d’Or Hotel and overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. The food offered was of excellent quality, with a wide selection that catered to different tastes, and the environment of the hotel was both pleasant and relaxing.

However, there were a few minor inconveniences. My room was not provided with a blanket, which caused some discomfort. In addition, on two occasions, staff members made errors when handling currency exchange, which suggests that this area could benefit from further attention.

Despite these issues, my stay was largely positive, and I would recommend Best Sol d’Or Hotel for its excellent dining options and welcoming atmosphere.

Overall a good holiday.
Pros:

We went as a family of 5, 3 adults and 2 children aged 7 and 10.
We got a private transfer which took 1 hour from Barcelona would next time definitely fly from Reus as it’s only 20 mins away.
We were allocated two rooms next to each other which over looked the pool and close to the evening entertainment. The rooms were air conditioned and this worked well. Bathrooms were a good size with a spacious shower. Shower was powerful with a rainfall shower head and a seperate attachment. Bath towels were provided.
Bed were extremely comfortable. We had a mini fridge in the room with complementary water, Coke and orange Fanta which was a bonus when we arrived at 10.30pm. The balcony was small and could only fit two people on at a time so we couldn’t sit out there as a family.
Around the pool was generally clean. Pool didn’t open until 10am and some people started to queue about 9.30am for a sun-bed! We were able to get a sunbed if we went down about 10.30am but any later and you would probably miss out. 3 pools, baby pool was lovely and warm and the other two pools were on the slightly colder side but didn’t stop us going in and having fun in the 30 degree heat! The pool with slides was great fun for the children. Lifeguard on duty at all times and were vigilant.
No inflatables in the main pool which was a bit disappointing but seems to be the norm now in most holidays abroad.
Water aerobics and water polo were great fun, we joined in on numerous occasions. Entertainment team were friendly and my youngest child went to the kids club most days for an hour or two to get out of the sun which she enjoyed.
The pool bar was always busy. However we are on holiday so we weren’t worried about the slower service. Some of the ladies behind the bar were lovely and always very helpful. Food was ok, although always a little wait for it to be ready and you have to collect it yourself, it’s not delivered to your table, but again, that didn’t bother us.
Lots of lovely seating in the air conditioned reception area if you want to get out of the sun for a bit and a small slide and swing for young children in the shade.
We went room only but did try the restaurant on site once. I would recommend getting there as soon as it opens at 7.30pm as when we left about 8.30pm, people were queuing down the stairs for a table. Food was tasty and a good variety too.
Lots of local places to eat too. Would recommend Wizzlers, The Irish bar and La Tagliatelle. All very good and reasonably priced.
The beach was great, only a 2 minute walk from the hotel. There were some building works going on but that didn’t bother us as there was no noise and it didn’t affect the use of the beach. The evening entertainment was interesting! Kids disco started at 9.30pm and was very repetitive each night. All in Spanish however the children enjoyed it. Main entertainment started around 10pm and didn’t finish until 11.30pm. As we had a room very close to the entertainment it was tricky to get the children to sleep whilst this was going on as it was very loud! I would say this was our only down side to our room. The entertainment wasn’t the best! The Michael Jackson act was laughable but the fire act was better. We were here for 10 days and enjoyed our stay.
