The hotel staff and team were extremely kind, polite, and genuinely wonderful people. However, I can’t overlook some of the issues with the hotel itself.
First of all, the rooms are very small and nothing like they appear in the photos. The view is beautiful, but the biggest problem is the noise. The rooms have almost no sound insulation. When someone in a neighboring room takes a shower, you can hear the water as if it were inside your own room. Footsteps and luggage noises from the hallway continue until midnight or even 1 a.m. In the mornings, you’re woken up by the sound of guests checking out and dragging their suitcases.
In short, this is definitely not a hotel for people who are sensitive to noise or value a good night’s sleep. Getting a comfortable and uninterrupted sleep is almost impossible.

The entire staff was friendly, caring, and professional. I wanted to be in Positano for my 70th birthday with my daughters, who would be experiencing all the beauty of Italy for the first time. I also wanted to go back to Hotel IL Gabbaino. My daughters spoke to the staff about surprising me with a cake. I was over the moon when some staff came into the room on my birthday with a lovely, well decorated cheesecake covered with fresh strawberries that the kitchen actually made just for me. So delicious!! Truly, that is well above customer service. It was an act of kindness that I appreciated and will treasure for the rest of my life.
The wifi can be slow at times, but it was manageable.
The view from the balcony was fantastic! We spent a lot of time out there soaking it in. The breakfast room service was delightful. The staff was friendly and helpful. There were several amazing restaurants super close to the hotel. Town square was also close. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location was great. You can take the stairs or walk on the road for an easier walk. We loved the breakfast delivered to our room each morning.
