We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Il Gabbiano and would greatly recommend it to anyone who is lookig to stay at Positano. The location is superb with an amazing view of the sea and the city, very close to the main tourist area vu far enough so you have some peace and quiet. A quick dash down the stairs takes about 15 minutes to reach the bay area of Positano, with the backward trip through the main street taking around 30 minutes. The service in the hotel was exceptional, with delicious breakfast each morning directly delivered to your room. The room itself was spacious and clean with very confortable beds. We were very satisfied with our stay here

The view from the room was beautiful, breakfast was delicious, the room was very comfortable. Restaurants are close.
The staff was fine, could be better. The shower is small. So many stairs to get there but anywhere in Positano it’s like that. They could have a transportation from the port to get to the hotel to make it easy, it doesn’t matter if you have to pay for it, it would be nice.

The lady receptionist, who was older than the other staff, was not friendly.

Location and the view from the hotel!
We stayed for 4 nights. The items we ordered for breakfast on the first day were complete, but on the following days, for some reason, the staff repeatedly forgot some items, and we had to ask for them again.
We were just wondering how a few items could have been missed, considering that there aren’t a lot of rooms to be serviced. Before checking out, we also found an apple that had already turned yellow under the bed. It seemed to have been there for quite some time, possibly even before our arrival.
Overall, these are minor concerns that can easily be addressed. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, and the staff were nice and friendly.
Hotel, Meer-Blick, Service topp
200 Meter zum Meer ist nicht korrekt durch die Höhenlage. In Summe sind es zu Fuss 20 min bergab, bei über 30 Grad kann man den Bus nehmen, man braucht ca. 20 min zur Fahrt vom Strand zum Hotel, mann sollte dann aber die fast 40 Grad im Bus aushalten. An Strand kosten 2 Liegen und ein Schirm für 4 Stunden 90 €, Duschen muss man zusätzlich bezahlen.
Very nice and helpful staff, comfortable and cosy room with a wonderful balcony with spectacular see view, very good breakfast which is served every morning directly to your room, you can also choose, what will your breakfast include, pastry, fruits, cereals, juices, coffee etc. Location is good, but with its own complexities (like every vertical city in Amalfi coast). Small fridge and big TV are also included
There were really no problem worth mentioning, but one very important info about the city itself - unfortunately it is very small, with very narrow streets, a lot of cars drive there and that leaves almost no walking space for you. Another issue, which can be important for people with health issues - unfortunately the only way to the see is relativ long stairs, or a even longer serpentine route with bus or a car, or by walk, walking downstairs is okay, but walking back up is really a nightmare, so you have to go a long way from the main square and if you want take a bus, which is always crowded. Please consider this information especially if you travel with kids
