Alvino Relais

Lovely hotel, great location 15 -20 minutes walk into the old town. Staff exceptional, wherever you are. We were advised of a Saturday wedding which resticts some of the lovely facilities. We worked around this and had a wonderful stay, including a delicious ecening meal in the restaurant. Pool wasnt busy (Sept) and the beds were very comfortable. 5 🌟

A lovely property on the outskirts of the old town ( which is about a 15 minute walk).
The hotel reception staff were very friendly and helpful - thank you Valentina!!
The rooms are very clean, spacious with a comfortable king size bed and nice linens.
The pool is fantastic in such a pretty setting!!! A perfect way to cool off and relax after a day of touring in Matera.
Breakfast has a great variety and the pool side bar has a good selection of snacks/sandwhiches.
The dining room served a beautiful dinner and presentation was 10/10.
Highly recommend this property :)

Great stay overall. The location was convenient, about a 25-minute walk to the Sassi di Matera, which made it easy to get around without driving. Having ample parking on-site was a big plus. We were able to leave the car for the whole trip and walk everywhere. The pool was very relaxing, and breakfast offered a nice variety of options each morning.

Its a little way out of the main tourist area, but beautiful hotel, great pool area and helpful staff

La struttura è antica, molto bella e ristrutturata da poco, davvero molto bella compresa la piscina con le palme, stupenda! I Sassi di Matera mi hanno commosso. Il centro storico è raccolto, in stile barocco davvero notevole. Quello che può migliorare è parte del servizio dell'hotel, quello dedicato alla ristorazione invece è assolutamente all'altezza di questo hotel che, se facesse un po' più di attenzione, potrebbe tranquillamente alzare l'asticella della qualità già molto buona.

The service around the pool could be more attentive (they’ve make more money too!)

Stavo cercando un'oasi di relax per mio marito e ho trovato Alvino Mulino Resort grazie alle recensioni positive. Il personale è stato eccezionale💯! Ali e Valentina alla reception sono state persone squisite, Caterina alla colazione è stata attenta e simpatica, e la signora Anna della Spa è stata incredibile. La struttura è bellissima e il design è accattivante. Grazie a tutto il personale per questi momenti di relax: torneremo sicuramente! Consiglio a tutti di visitarlo: è un'esperienza unica e vi farà venir voglia di tornare il prima possibile. Fermarsi e prendersi del tempo per sé è importante. What a fantastic hotel, brilliant staff, all very welcoming and a great weekend away. Breakfast was delicious and well appointed with lovely choices. Pool was gorgeous and the room beautiful and very clean, did i say brilliant staff?
16 minute walk to city but very doable!

Have had a very lovely stay here, the only let down is the breakfast which is why 4 instead of 5.The staff here are helpful and kind,the swimming pool is just beautiful and the man who runs the bar down by the pool is fantastic. The hotel is very clean,with lovely touches throughout. it's about a 20 minute walk into town which is a very easy walk in , perfect distance for walking off lunch and supper.

Hotel avec parking à l’entrée de Matera. Très pratique pour garer la voiture et visiter.
Hotel spacieux, grande chambre avec mini bar inclus. Agréable quand on arrive sous 36 degrés.
Hotel assez calme dans l’ensemble. Juste le train que l’on entend jusqu’à tard le soir et tôt le matin.
On a été bien reçu et pu profiter de la piscine avant notre départ.

Disappointing End to Our Italy Trip

Unfortunately, our stay at Alvino Relais Contemporaneo in Matera did not live up to our expectations and marked a disappointing end to an otherwise wonderful trip through Italy.

First, the positives: the entire property has been beautifully renovated, and our room was clean, bright, and comfortable. The breakfast was decent, though lacking in variety. However, we were unpleasantly surprised to find that the mozzarella served on one morning tasted spoiled.

The main reason we chose this accommodation was the pool, which we had been looking forward to enjoying as a relaxing break during our travels. To our disappointment, we were unable to use the pool on both our arrival and departure days due to private events. While we were informed about the closure on our arrival day two days in advance, the closure on our departure day was only communicated to us that very morning – despite the fact that it was due to a pre-scheduled wedding.

Initially, the staff member we addressed our concerns to showed little understanding and tried to argue that we could have used the pool twice, which felt dismissive. We believe that access to the pool should be guaranteed until checkout time on the day of departure – or guests should be clearly informed well in advance if that’s not the case.

To their credit, the management did offer an apology before we left, but overall, the experience left a bitter aftertaste. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this property, especially if you’re booking it with the intention of enjoying the pool – as we did.

This hotel is a wonderful oasis in the middle of Matera. Beautiful views of the countryside. Amazing staff from Reception to the Bar Staff. Katherine (sorry about the spelling) but she was on breakfast and the bar as well was simply amazing. We ordered 2 drinks one night and a Sommelier wheeled out a trolley with 2 glasses a bottle of red and a bottle of Prosecco. He gave us a taste of each and pour our glasses. We only ordered 2 glasses but it was an experience. Parking so easy on the premises and secure. The only thing is that the restaurant is amazing but if you are looking for something light there isn’t anything and not a lot in the area. Sassi is about a 20 min easy walk. We would go back to this hotel.
