Sotel Amsterdam Central Station

Not even sure where to start!

Booked this as our regular hotel was full and the location is banging! The only good point!

When booking the rooms looked lively and bright in the photos!

Upon arrival told we are in the basement room 701 a room down steep spiral stairs that would be no good if you have a suitcase or a larger person.
The room was basically a boiler room. Dark tiny and the only window was a floor level window to a fire escape that opening it you just saw the accumulation of rubbish and just heard the water tanks etc
We asked to be moved due to the smell of sewage and the fact my husbands bed was falling apart. ( May I add was his birthday )
Was told there was no more rooms and they would check it all out.

We went out for the evening came back to to find they just sprayed air freshener.
We decided to try and make the most of it only being there for 2 days.
On our last night we came back to a terrible smell again and all through the night the smell became worse and I woke up to my husband actually being sick due to the smell. The room was very dark due to poor lighting and having no window! He turned the light on and noticed the shower was full of poo!! And we had been breathing it in all night!! We went and spoke to the male receptionist who was the only helpful person we were greeted by who was terribly embarrassed over it. That allowed us to shower in a different room which was beautiful!

We left for the day and returned to wait for our transfer, while sitting there waiting I heard a young lady get checked into the same room, and then shortly after come to reception to complain about the room and the smell of poo.
She demanded a refund and was refused. I then over heard the receptionist say that the room needs a deep clean and pulling out to be repaired and put back to together but they don’t have time!

Please give this hotel a miss! The location may be ideal but this is disgusting and unacceptable

Small flask and bottles of water so that we can have hot water whenever we need

We purchased 2 nights accommodation through Qantas hotel listings. The photo shown was attractive and seemed to justify high price. In reality the room we received was terrible. Stingy bathroom, no space for bags not even a chair. Window opened next to rubbish bin. This was the worst value for money I have experienced in 40 years of travel.

Emplacement parfait à 5minutes de la gare centrale. Personnel très accueillant et souriant. Même si la chambre aurait pu être très petite, grâce à son agencement elle était parfaite pour 3 nuits avec sac à dos ou petite valise. Salle de douche parfaitement agencée. Chambre nettoyée chaque jour, merci aux femmes de menage qui pensaient à remettre le café à chaque fois.
