Not pet friendly as advertised
Pros:

This hotel is moderate. It is not luxurious. We came here because it represents itself to be extremely “pet friendly “. For them, that means they do not ask for a deposit. But they get you in a 100 other ways - 70$ valet for 24 hours, the hot and cool plunge they advertise ? You pay extra for that. You have to pay for the cabanas around the pool - if you don’t have one, you may as well vacation in the Sahara Desert, maybe you have to pay to use the pool too. We wouldn’t know because of the following:

The major con about this entire enterprise is that it is only pet friendly because there are also residences here where people can live here with pets. An artificial grass area is provided on the 9th floor where you can “relieve your pets “ - your pet and a 100 other pets who apparently live here full time - it reeks of urine and poop and huge unruly dogs.

The last straw is you cannot leave your pet unattended in your room even in carriers. So, if you want to be held hostage in a moderately crappy room with your dog for 400 dollars a night, this is definitely the place for you.

Dogs are not allowed in the common areas or the restaurants (restaurants are privately owned and not affiliated with the hotel - also not clearly described in their advertising). You are stuck in a high rise downtown building. There are different rules for guests and residents - none of which are explained. There is noise and construction and little food choices. Room service is outrageously priced (at least they have it or we couldn’t eat) - the mini bar is minimal and also exorbitantly expensive.

My pet weighs six pounds. True “pet friendly “ hotels have designated areas in the hotel for people with pets, and they can be left in the room in carriers or crates . I wish I had stayed home or paid for the ritz Carlton- it’s worth the money to pay more and know what you are getting and they will always make it right.

Exceeded expectations for a Texas staycation
Pros:

Beautiful room upgrade and overall amazing experience. Was not expecting the hotel to be anywhere near as nice as it was. Loved the mirrors in the rooms and the feeling of expansiveness from the view. Little Daisy had great food the only downside was that it took a while to come out. Highly recommend the breakfast there!

Not worth the money
Pros:

My first luxury hotel and it wasn't what I expected. Rooms were small, food was expensive, decent with not a huge variety. I guess being considered luxury is a way to charge a lot for very little

Shabby & Dirty. Not 5 Star
Pros:

We booked this hotel for our return trip to Dallas, having stayed elsewhere on our outbound journey (which incidentally was excellent but unfortunately fully booked for our return). Sadly, this hotel was a HUGE disappointment.

The property felt tired and poorly maintained throughout. Our first room was shabby, with marked walls and floors, dated décor, and a noticeable lack of cleanliness. Hoping it was just an isolated issue, we requested a move and were given what we were told was the hotel’s best suite. Unfortunately, it was no better—in some respects, it was even worse.

Although it was well past midnight when we arrived and staying would have been far more convenient, the condition of the hotel was so poor that we chose to cancel our booking and leave. It was an incredibly disappointing experience, and we simply couldn’t justify staying the night.

Anyone considering booking here should be aware that this is not a five-star standard. Don’t waste your money.

Wasn't the best
Pros:

Upon arriving in our room, I poured myself a glass of water and immediately noticed that the drinking glasses were very dusty and dirty. I reported this issue to the front desk. To apologize, your staff offered to send a complimentary anniversary treat to our room.

We waited over five hours, and just before bedtime we called to ask about it. That is when we were told the gift had been delivered to the wrong room. Yesinia then came to our room with a bottle of inexpensive champagne and strawberries that were not properly cleaned. She asked how she could make the situation right, and she specifically offered us a complimentary dinner along with 5,000 Hyatt points. Based on that promise, we accepted.

However, neither promise was honored. I later reviewed my invoice and found that we were charged for the dinner, and the 5,000 Hyatt points were never added to my account.

What upsets me most is not just the mistakes, but that I was promised a resolution that was never fulfilled. It feels like the issue was handled only to quickly smooth things over, without following through on the commitments that were made.

I respectfully request that the dinner charge be fully refunded and that the 5,000 Hyatt points promised by your staff be credited to my account. I would appreciate your prompt attention to resolving this matter.

Not great
Pros:

Shower did not work for multiple floors. Water pressure was the level of light rain and no heat for water either. Radio didn't work and staff at restaurant Little Daisy was poor for all experiences. Bartenders were nice, but servers were backed up and not making tables a priority.

Fell far below the standards we expected
Pros:

My husband and I chose the Thompson Hotel to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary and arrived with great expectations for what we hoped would be romantic getaway. While we appreciated the complimentary room upgrade in honor of our anniversary, our overall experience fell far below the standards we expected from a hotel of this caliber.

The room itself was beautiful; however, we immediately discovered that the desk outlets were not functioning and the room safe was inoperable. We contacted the front desk three separate times regarding the safe, yet it was not resolved until the second day of our stay and only after we physically went to the front desk to report the issue again. That same night, our television also stopped working. While both issues were eventually fixed, it took far too much effort and follow-up on our part.

One of the biggest disappointments was the excessive noise. Every night sounded as though scenes from *The Fast and the Furious* were being filmed directly outside our window. Despite being on the 14th floor, the noise level was incredibly loud and made it difficult to relax or enjoy the romantic atmosphere we had anticipated.

Additionally, housekeeping accidentally took one of my bras when exchanging our robes, as it had been hanging beneath one of them. To make matters worse, my husband accidentally left his Beats headphones at the pool, and when we inquired about them, we were simply told they had not been turned in.

What was perhaps most disappointing was the level of customer service we received while trying to resolve these issues. Given the reputation, status, and price point of the Thompson Hotel, we expected a much higher level of attentiveness and care. While we appreciated the $50 courtesy credit that was offered, it did little to offset the overall experience.

That said, I would absolutely return for the restaurants. Monarch was unforgettable and truly one of the highlights of our trip. The food, atmosphere, and overall dining experience were exceptional. Catbird also exceeded expectations with amazing food and a wonderful ambiance. Both restaurants delivered the level of excellence we had hoped to experience throughout our stay.

Unfortunately, what was meant to be a special anniversary getaway became a series of frustrations and disappointments. We are grateful for the room upgrade and the courtesy credit, but based on our hotel experience, we will not be returning as overnight guests.

Excellent location and good service
Pros:

Good stay overall. The property is nice and well kept, the pool area is large, and the staff consistently friendly and attentive. I ate at Little Daisy a few times and had great experiences there. The manager was especially welcoming and hospitable.

Housekeeping was also attentive. The location is excellent if you're staying downtown for work, with a lot of places within walking distance. I even walked back from Deep Ellum one early evening.

Few things could improve. I wish there had been an option to sit outside for breakfast. The bed was comfortable enough, but the pillows felt a bit lumpy and ready to be replaced.

Exceptional Stay at the Thomas
Pros:

I recently stayed at the Thompson Dallas and absolutely loved the experience. The hotel has a beautiful modern design that feels both luxurious and welcoming. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the pillows made for some of the best sleep I've had while traveling.

The staff was outstanding professional, attentive, and always willing to help. The food was excellent, with great options and quality throughout my stay.

I was in Dallas attending a conference, and staying at the Thompson made the trip even more enjoyable. This experience reminded me made a new fan of Hyatt properties. I would highly recommend the Thompson Dallas to anyone visiting the area for business or leisure.

Exceptional Customer Service
Pros:

Our check in experience after our wedding was phenomenal. We got in late maybe around 11:30pm and we were welcomed by Jason at the concierge desk. He promptly helped us, congratulated us, and was able to upgrade our room for our special day. Plus he sent us cookies and ice cream as well. A very nice bonus touch!

After we checked in, we went out with our wedding party and were out to the early hours. When we got back Jason offered some additional waters.

Overall, our experience was strongly shaped by Jason’s attentiveness, attention to detail, and willingness to go above and beyond.

Our experience between the Thompson Houston and Thompson was night and day.
