Excellent upper mid-range hotel near station
Pros:

Lovely upper mid-range hotel only one block from Kaohsiung station. Check in is friendly, helpful, English speaking. Room is nicely designed, especially bathroom and tub. Sparkling water with lemons in glass bottles appreciated. View of street but the best view, including Kaohsiung Station, is from the rooftop patio and gym. I didn’t catch the happy hour with free wine (6-7 pm) but there are also free snacks all day. Breakfast buffet was great for a smaller hotel, with long availability.

Cons:

It’s cool you get to pre-order a main dish for breakfast but I’d like to see a more local and breakfast oriented option, as the current 3 options are more like a lunch or dinner item in a Western restaurant. Like I’d rather have a Taiwanese baozi or danbing when visiting Taiwan than grilled salmon with creamy spinach.

An excellent boutique hotel in central Kaohsiung
Pros:

The staff at this hotel were very efficient and friendly. They stored our luggage for a few hours prior to and after our stay. The breakfast was delicious with a very good selection of food. In addition, the hotel had a happy hour with free wine and some food in a very attractive setting. The lounge on the top floor was also very appealing. The room was of moderate size but was very quiet and comfortable. It was about a 10 min walk to the main train station and to the subway station.

Schickes Hotel an zentraler Lage
Pros:

Grosses Zimmer, grosses Badezimmer mit Dusche und Badewanne, automatisches WC, zentral gelegen und trotzdem ruhig, sehr freundliches Personal, gutes Frühstück, Wasserspender, würden wieder buchen

Die Beleuchtung beim Waschtischspiegel ist mangelhaft, man sieht sich nicht genügend
