Good facilities, nice room design (apart from the “bathroom”).
Warning for those considering the Executive Room: This room type has an open bathroom. Only the WC has a door. As you enter the room you are greeted by the sink and the shower, which as a glass door. Very disappointing compared to my other experiences in various The Social Hub locations. I think it’s not easy to tell from the photos. Again, comparing to other locations, no mini-fridge or Nespresso machine (you get filter coffee packs).
I am currently staying at The Social Hub Vienna, and based on my firsthand experience, I find the quality and transparency of the student accommodation highly disappointing.
Students are offered a “Student Stay” contract that consists of little more than basic personal information, the selected room category (for example, “Deluxe Double”), and the check-in/check-out dates. However, upon moving in, it becomes apparent that the actual room may differ significantly from what is presented on the website.
In my case, the room layout is extremely inefficient: a long corridor occupies a substantial portion of the surface area, leaving almost no practical living space. There is not even enough usable room to place a modest table comfortably. In addition, the real dimensions of the room appear inconsistent with the advertised measurements. My “Deluxe Double” room was described online as averaging 24 m², yet after measuring it myself, the total area was below 22 m².
The building infrastructure is also unreliable. The washing machines and dryers frequently malfunction, often requiring intervention from staff. Elevator issues occur regularly as well; at times, residents must repeatedly press buttons and tap their key cards several times before the lift responds.
Students are also promised various “benefits” through The Social Hub app, including access to accommodation in other locations across Europe. In practice, however, this feature appears unusable. I spent hours searching through different cities and date combinations without finding any available rooms. The system gives the impression of offering benefits that are effectively inaccessible.
The cleaning standards are another major issue. Despite references to a “deep cleaning service,” the room was far from properly cleaned when I moved in. I personally vacuumed the carpet using my own vacuum cleaner and removed a substantial amount of dust from a room that is itself quite small. The shared kitchens are consistently poorly maintained, with visible stains on the walls and basic supplies such as kitchen paper frequently missing.
Most importantly, there is effectively no meaningful cleaning service during the stay. The room remains essentially in the exact condition in which the previous occupant left it, and the accommodation provided bears little resemblance to the polished presentation shown before move-in.
Overall, the experience has been far below the standard implied by the company’s advertising and student-oriented branding.
L'albergo molto carino e particolare i, stile moderno ,il letto nello grande e stra comodo.
Nelle camera abbiamo trovato tosa e e caffè.
In bagno addirittura la crema per i capelli post shampo e anche la crema per il corpo.Ottima la posizione zona prater e a pochi minuti a piedi dalla metro .
Great breakfast, large and comfy beds, great location near Prater.
Bathroom not completely separated from bedroom, silverfishes in the bathroom area, factory-like feeling of the rooms.
Recently modernised. Conveniently a few minutes walk to Praterstern. Good breakfast. Room was comfortable - even had a view towards the Riesenrad.
thermostat appeared to be locked off during most of my stay.
