Excellent location with a beautiful view
worst exsperance ever in Chicago, if you like holiday inns and someone above stomping around, becasue the floors are wood not cement this is where you want to stay, on top of that had to replace our complet AC unit, dont ask the desk to print off you boarding pass as they dont no how nor does the manager, then try and call ahead for you car cant be done. dont even test the restrarant for room service, a restraurant that doesnt open unti 7.
Liked the fireworks
Lake view
I loved the view it was amazing being able to see the city skyline and lake Michigan and being right there on the navy pier.
The price for the room is a bit pricey for the size it was quite small but the view was phenomenal. The worst part for my stay was the parking lot they told me to park in the east gate and the people at the gate said go to the west and couldn't get into the west when I was told if you stay at the sable you get parking (you pay for every time you enter the garage) so I was getting frustrated with not being able to park so I went back to the desk and talked to this gentleman with hair to his shoulders and explained what's going on he was rude and said you go into the east garage and press the button when I kept stating they won't let me in because they keep saying it's full and he just kept being rude and saying you press the button I got upset and left and went back to the west garage after trying the east garage (no luck again) and I ended up just buying a ticket through the navy peir parking so just be prepared the parking is a nightmare during the weekend and trying to get help from the staff was pointless.
The pier itself and the employee's were very polite at the hotel.
We Drove 12 hrs from New Jersey to Chicago and was not informed prior to my arrival that a pipe had burst, and the elevators were down. My asthmatic wife and I had to carry our luggage up 6 flights of stairs. There was bell service but it was not offered. I understand that some things are out of the hotel's control like a pipe bursting, but a call prior to my arrival to let me know there is an ongoing issue would have been great. I heard of this pipe issue for the first time when we already arrived in Chicago and I was calling to ask if an earlier check-in was available. I was then offered a free cancelation for the inconvenience. I was already in Chicago and just drive 12 hours. Canceling at the last mnute, was not an option. If I was afforded that option prior to the trip, then I possibly would have. Paying $500-600 for the night and not being told in advance of an issue such as that, is very poor customer service.
The hotel room itself was fine, great view. The property sent an email saying that the elevator was down so you'd need to climb steps to get to your room. What actually happened was the elevator was down AND you had to navigate back hallways and catering areas to get to your room. It was so confusing I had to go back to the front desk to be escorted to my room. The staff broke my suitcase on the long walk and according to them, I signed up for this when they said the elevator was broken. They refunded my resort fee, as a courtesy. If the elevator is down, DO NOT STAY HERE.
The location was fantastic. The breakfast was great. The views were wonderful.
The elevators were not working and there was no offer of discounts or anything else to make up for the inconvenience of climbing 6 stories to get to and from the room.
I had a trip to Chicago, reserved a room at the sable from June 18-22. I just received an email from Amex saying that none of the elevators are working and so r the only way to your room would be the stairs. Since the rooms are on floors 3-7, this is unacceptable. Called the hotel, they have no idea when the elevators will be fixed. I just cancelled my reservation.
The lake view from the room was nice. The room was spacious enough for 4 person.
The hotel was flooded in the morning of our arrival due to broken water pipe of the Navy Pier so the lift was out of order. We had to carry 4 large luggage to our room through stairs with some help from the hotel staff. There were 2 buildings in the hotel we had to climb to second floor first, walk through some seminar rooms then climb from another stair to our rooms. But since there were no sign boards which building which stairs are heading many guests climb the wrong stairs and need to get down and reclimb again.
We booked the room for 4 but there were only 2 complimentary water everyday. They gave extra 2 only on the first night after we requested since we need to climb the stairs.
The breakfast was a la carte and capped at US72 for 4 person everyday so there were not much choices for us unless we pay extra. Not much hot meals choices within US18 per person. The food was delicious though just need to pay extra despite that we booked with "breakfast included". Tax 18% for the restaurant was automatically added as there were fine prints in the menu stating that they were eligible to that if we order US50 or more or more than 3 person served.
The towels were renewed after room cleaning everyday but only for 3 person. So we had to call to get the forth towel every single day for 4 continuous nights despite the fact that we requested and reminded the front desk and the housekeeping delivery to deliver 4 towels in the calls everyday.
There were also Destination Fee USD35 everyday which was not mentioned in Booking.com fee but the hotel only told us that they waived for us during the checkout day due to the inconveniences caused.
We checked about the Destination Fee later and found out that usually they will give US10 back to guests which can be used for breakfast and free tickets for Children Muzuem and Ferris Wheels near by. We did not get any of these may be because they thought they were going to waive the Destination Fee in the end anyway.
There was a 'flood' the second night of our stay. We were on the 6th floor, the elevators didn't work. We dd not receive an email or any notice of this. We had to walk down to the lobby which was totally soaked, squishy carpet, crews clearing away water. The place was a mess. We had free breakfast but the restaurant was closed because of 2 ft of water in the kitchen.
Granted, this was not the fault of the hotel. Apparently, a sprinkler pipe test failed. However, the hotel management had no clue how to handle this. NO notice, they didn't offer to walk up the stairs and fetch our luggage ( we had to ask if there was a bellman), NO alternate place for breakfast or even coffee was suggested.
We ended up finding our own alternative, having a nice breakfast and the bellman brought down our luggage, after waiting for 45minutes. I booked 3 rooms for a 70th birthday celebration. The rooms were next to each other, had beautiful views. Beds were comfortable, showers had great water pressure, toiletries were nice, bottled water was replenished. The rooms themselves need some TLC. OLD furniture and cabinetry, black out draperies didn't quite reach across the opening.
The breakfast was order from the menu. We had a voucher for $26/pp which didn't cover the total cost of scrambled eggs, coffee, fruit and bacon. My eggs were cold, coffee was okay. The servers and staff at the restaurant were downright surly.
Overall, this hotel was in a great location if you want to be on Navy Pier and have a phenomenal view of our beautiful city and lake. Very expensive, like everything else. Wouldn't go back.
Friendlier servers at the restaurant. Communication about the 'flood' with options to get luggage.
Labai patiko viešbučio vieta, puikūs vaizdai per vitrininius langus. Puikus susisiekimas su miesto centru ir lankytinais objektais.
Labai nepatiko ekstremalios situacijos valdymas.
