Overall the stay was OK. I must admit that I had a bit higher expectations of the room quality since I paid more that EUR3000 for 6 nights. E.g. lamps that didn't work. And in general the room looked and seemed "cheap" compared to what I would expect from a hotel with this pricing level. Something I would expect if I had booked for less than half the price. But the balcony and view was magnificent. Could not be better and I guess that is what you pay for. It was the Alpine Suite over 2 floors with valley view. For our taste there were to many small children. We had expected and hoped for almost an all adult hotel. Therefore more noise than we liked. The location is outside the city center so transport to the slopes was necessary. The hotel had a small buss that took us to the city center and the slopes. Good service. The spa department was good. Both steam bath and saunas and a relaxing area that was not so relaxing due to the many small children in the pool area next door. The food was good and tasty and included in the price. If possible I would have given this review 3+ stars but since that is not possible I rounded up to 4.
Das Frühstück ist nicht zu überbieten, der Ausblick vom Zimmer in die Bergwelt ist ein Traum
This is such a lovely stay. Highly recommend. The staff is exceptional. The facility is clean and unique in design and decoration. Their breakfast was diverse and delicious. We did their Prix Fixe dinner and it was excellent as well as reasonably priced (drinks not included). They were extremely accommodating to us and are child friendly. They have children's activities as well as yoga and adult activities daily. I only wish we could have stayed longer! Well done. Location was great, lovely hiking and Therme in the region.
Haus Hirt is one of those hotels that you want to tell everyone about, while at the same time keeping it a secret. The views are amazing, the spa is professional and the food was a revelation. The "light lunch" is anything but, and guests are encouraged to pack lunches if they will be on one of the guided hikes or just exploring. Evelyn is lovely and caring and addressed all of our concerns. Haus Hirt was definitely "family-oriented" during our stay (mostly families with mostly younger children) but that only added to the friendly vibe at the place. Both the staff and the other guests could not have been more pleasant, and for your own sake, don't miss the saunas.
As three generations of the one family we travelled from Ireland to Haus Hirt. It was well worth the journey. Such a beautiful hotel in an amazing location just magical. Food was excellent. SPA was extremely good and the pool and sauna's we all enjoyed. Several highlights for us the included hikes there was always one difficult for the hardly and a family hike for the rest of us so everyone even a toddler was included. The Guides were great fun and made sure everyone was included. Our grandaughter felt so at home there as she wandered through the restaurant and her favourite the 'library'. The staff were so welcoming especially to children. The included yoga was excellent the teacher was very good. The hotel shuttle was also handy for pick up and drop off to the train station. Also a highlight was the walks right outside the door of the hotel and we could always take an off road buggy at reception for our grandaughter.
We fly into Vienna from Dublin and was a long train ride with a change in Salzburg it would have been easier to fly into Munich and get the direct train from Munich city centre. We stayed in Vienna on the way out and back and have to say what a beautiful city amazing clean and safe.
Highly recommend this hidden gem in Summer. I have been to Austria for winter but have to say summer is so much better.!!!
Staying at Haus Hirt is more akin to staying in a friend’s lovely house where the old and the new are blended together in a sophisticated and elegant manner. You are made to feel special where the service is discreet and efficient and the food is plentiful as well as being beautifully presented. The view from the huge glazed walls of the restaurant towards the valley below would be hard to beat anywhere in the world.
Wow, this hotel is out of a fairytale, both the staff and guests are happy. Kids are laughing and play freely throughout the hotel with kindness from the staff and understanding from the other guests who are mostly other families or couples that know this is a family first hotel. The kids club was wonderful, though it’s good to understand the schedule well as mornings are outdoor activities. Meals are delicious and family friendly, with a special children dinner service, then off to kids club for the parents to eat. Spa was nice too.
Nothing we didn’t like, but it takes a couple of days to get into the groove here, best for an entire week stay.
What a special place--from the staff, rooms, food, location, guided hikes, wellness area, views --it was a beautiful holiday. I was there for an early season snow which added to the atmosphere. Prior I did not know anything about Bad Gastein/ Haus Hirt--truly a special find!! Thank you!!
Lovely cozy room with amazing views. Very comfortable.
The hotel was very good at providing information about local events in a daily newsletter at breakfast.
Lots of activities available to kids and a kids club with different activities every day
We have just come back from a three generation stay at Haus Hirt and it could not have been better. The rooms were all excellent with plenty of space, and perfectly suited to each family. The food was delicious from breakfast to dinner, with masses of fruit and salads, and a place to make a packed lunch if you wanted to go out for the day. Charming staff and hiking guides and great facilities for children. You could go on the guided trips or get advice on doing your own, with very useful shuttle service all included. The atmosphere was altogether generous and relaxed and we would all love to go there again.
Very accommodating to our large family gathering. Great kids club.
Very well guided mountain walks and relaxing yoga clases included in the stay. Delicious food which included an excellent healthy salad bar.
Lovely train ride from Salzburg (be sure to reserve seats on the train)
A wonderful, immersive experience in the Austrian mountains. We were a family of nine, all ages, including a 14 year old and a 4 year old. We were accommodated in studios, with balconies with amazing views over the valley and mountains. It was a magical environment. One you don't want to leave.
From the beginning, all our needs were fulfilled willingly, ensuring our stay was exactly what we desired. There were activities to suit us all, from hikes, to pool, the great terrace and sauna, to yoga, Kids Club for the little one-in fact you couldn't get her away from it! The guides were competent, knowledgeable, funny, and led different groups on appropriate treks. The women who looked after the children provided a range of activities and walks, and made sure each child was comfortable and catered for. The Reception staff were fantastic, helping with all sorts of requests, taking away any stress you may have had.
It is a lovely, easy, 20 minute walk into the village with its further attractions and beautiful old hotels and an incredible waterfall. So much to discover!
At the end of the day, guests are able to relax in the bar area, before a gourmet three course meal in the pretty dining room with valley views. The food was excellent with plenty of choice. A buffet lunch is provided with an array of salads, soup and a cake which you can have for most of the afternoon at your leisure. Breakfast offered almost anything you can think of, high quality, with an organic influence, -cereal, bircher muesli, yoghurts, juices, fruit, eggs, breads, sausage, cakes and much more. The staff in this area too are excellent, plenty of smiles, and you get the feeling that they are an integrated, happy crew. I celebrated a significant birthday and had the most fabulous cake brought to the table.
Back home, it's a place I still dream of, with so many images of days of enjoyment and tranquility. I think that the owner has a special touch with both the staff and the guests. I am very grateful. I hope to be back another time.
This is a truly stunning hotel! Beautiful decor, amazing views, delicious food and wonderful service. This was our second visit to Haus Hirt and it didn't disappoint, there is so much to do in and around the hotel for any age group, I would particularly recommend for extended family groups as there are things on offer from babies to grandparents.
As soon as you walk through the door, you feel like home. The atmosphere is so relaxing and you feel immediately at ease. Our daughter runs directly to the kids club and returns after 30 minutes with a new friend. We love that everything is taking care off from food to hikes to child care.
View from the room, bar was really cozy to sit and chat, massage was excellent.
Dinner wasn’t as good as expected. Selection of cheese was quite disappointing.
Swimming pool was simply too small to swim, not for adults.
I'm loathe to let the cat out of the bag about this place as it's one of my favourite places to stay. The owner is warm and friendly, always around, and can't do enough for you, the rooms are big and comfortable, rather plain but very 'ski hotel' in design, so that even in the summer the simplicity makes your holiday very easy. Beds are very comfortable and there's often a separate area for kids to sleep. It's VERY geared towards young children, and the kids activity programme is a godsend for tired parents. if you're a couple looking to relax I would avoid and go to their sister hotel Miramont just down the road, which is adults only. On our most recent trip we noticed that the pool area was a bit tired out, and there are quite a few things in the hotel that need a refresh. But the food is really excellent, the dining room has one of the best views in the world, and we often make friends with other guests. I did notice that kids seemed to pervade every area of the hotel which we found a bit annoying, whereas before the dining room in the evening was more off limits to little ones. Maybe it's because our eldest is now ten, so she found it all a bit babyish. But if you have young kids I would recommend this place.
