Pros:

The location was good. Property is well maintained.

Cons:

For the room cost, I didnt find it value for money. I have experienced better service in the past from other Taj properties.

Our room shower fittings had to be repaired. The room was not equipped with water bottles, towels etc. Basics that should be already in place. Again, it was not value for money. The breakfast spread was quite limited. The wardrobe did not have any shelves, just hangers. Where does one keep stuff.

Probably the best hotel in the area
Pros:

Rooms, restaurants, gardens, services, and cleanliness were up to the standards.

Cons:

Given the price of the hotel, I did not appreciate the activies like tea garden visit were chargeable.
Darjeeling town is extremely polluted and we were looking forward to some fresh air at the hotel terrace. Unfortunatelly they allow workers from their own construction site to burn toxic plastic waste of which the smell reached the room and restaurant area.

My Experience at TAJ CHIA DARJEELING BRIGADIER GOORHA
Pros:

Awesome ambience well maintained highly professional staff. Special words of appreciation for Kum Kum in front desk and Mohd Shahid Akhtar Manager House keeping for out of the way exceptional personal care to me and my US citizen son

Cons:

F&B services definitely poor both for quality of cooking and services. There is no other places to go and eat. One is stuck with like it or not food

My recent stay at Taj Chia Kutir Resort & Spa from 19th–22nd March was deeply disappointing and far below the standards one expects from the Taj brand.

Despite booking 5 rooms and making a clear request 45 days in advance to have rooms on the same floor, the hotel completely failed to honor this. Our family was scattered across different floors, causing unnecessary inconvenience throughout the stay.

What makes this even more unacceptable is the pricing. At approximately ₹40,000 per room per night, one expects impeccable service and seamless hospitality. Instead, we were met with poorly trained staff, slow response times, and a complete lack of guest-first attitude. There was no sense of ownership or urgency in addressing even basic requests.

The food was another major letdown, strictly average, lacking both quality and consistency. For a property positioned as premium, this was highly disappointing.

Overall, the experience reflected poor management, weak service culture, and a serious gap between pricing and delivery. At this price point, this is not just disappointing, it is unacceptable.

What should have been a memorable family holiday turned into a frustrating experience. I sincerely hope the management takes corrective action, because in its current state, this property does not justify the Taj name or the price it commands.

An enjoyable 3 days! Good gym facilities and inclusive transport within the hotel. Will come again!
Pros:

Reasonably stocked breakfast bar considering this was a 5-star hotel. However we found staff very helpful with anything we ordered directly with them. Freshly made items were delicious.
As expected, the tea tasting session was fantastic!

Cons:

A la carte foods at dinner were very spicy hot and we couldnt find anything suitable for a milder palate. Staff did go over and above to make a milder version of a couple of alternative orders and this gesture was very much appreciated.

Not value for money
Pros:

The 2nd evening a couple of staff at the restaurant redeemed for the previous evening's disaster....thanks to Pankaj Bhist n Anshuman. The staff at the spa were good and we enjoyed the therapy we had chosen. Also, liked the Makaibari tea session. Since we are birders...we enjoyed our birding sessions around the estate.

Cons:

On the first evening the moment we entered the restaurant the Manager on Duty Kaustuv tried to upsell us a dinner even before we could sit....we had paid for a half board. Post that some horrendous food was served since they didn't have a buffet going on. They had issues with water...since we are early risers to enjoy our birding sessions...after numerous contacts a bucket of water was sent the room...ideally should have been the first resolution till the issue was fixed....didn't feel like a premium Taj property at all....and too during the festive season....I just felt the staff are ill trained....as have never had such an experience at other Taj properties.
