The best hotel in the best position

We arrived in the mid-morning from the ferry, which is a 8 minute walk at a slow pace away from the port. The location is at one edge of the old town where it was quiet. We were warmly greeted by the concierge, Maria. We asked if we could get into the room early, but as expected it was still being cleaned – and the room was spotless when we returned at the promised time, 12:30PM, still very early versus normal check-in time. She gave us some awesome cold water to drink and a map of the city and told us the best places to eat and generally added wonderful color to our arrival.
When we returned Maria informed us that they had already put our bags in our perfect room that we left behind while exploring the old town. Then she came to the room bearing gifts of fresh squeezed lemonade (best we have ever had) and Turkish candies. She explained everything to us – the free cold water in the mini-bar, the AC, coffee machine, etc. We took a shower in the mid afternoon – best shower I can remember. It is a true rain-head shower. The water came out at high volume and easily controlled for temperature. They had two each bottles of (all Olive Extract) body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion for me and my wife – a total of 8 in all. The towels are huge and thick. Unlike most European places we have stayed, they had real washcloths.
The room is smartly and simply decorated and has a 14 foot ceiling making the room feel much bigger than it is. The room layout was intelligently designed, no cheap Mickey Mouse decorations or broken anything. Just what you need and nothing you don’t - with plenty of room to easily move around. The overall classy and peaceful ambiance just resonated with us. You can see the great pictures of the stone reception area and rooms, of course. In the end, Maria made it one of the best hotel experiences in my 50 years of traveling.

Extremely comfy beds. I asked where the mattress was from it was so good.
My only comment is that, as with other hotels, it would be better to have larger fixed bottles of toiletries like shampoo. Better for the environment and easier to get out! But nothing that got in the way of a great stay.
