Gorgeous and elegant, but otherwise not much bang for your buck.
Pros:

If you're looking for a sleek, brand new, modern boutique hotel, this is the place for you. The space is genuinely gorgeous, with luxe finishes and fixtures (to include steam showers in individual rooms, electronic controls for the lights, curtains, etc).

The views over the harbor are spectacular, and the in-hotel restaurant has a phenomenal view of the sunset right over Chania town. It is also removed from the hustle and bustle of Chania downtown (which is often crowded with tourists), while still being close enough to conveniently walk to (about a scenic 25-30 minute walk each way).

Cons:

Apart from the aesthetics, there's not much more to it. There is a heated, indoor pool, but the spa/wellness facilities are quite small. The steamroom can maybe fit 4 people at any given time, and requires advance notice (30 minutes) before it is ready for use. Similarly, the fitness center is very small with only one bike and treadmill and some dumbbell weights. I also did not see a sauna. Better than nothing, but I certainly wouldn't call it a spa retreat (I admittedly didn't look into massages or other treatments, so can't speak to that).

The parking situation was also confusing/frustrating - you must use the hotel valet for parking, who is available from 8am-8pm (but will accommodate your schedule if you communicate needs in advance, e.g. for an early morning departure). If you drive up and no one is at the front desk, you have to find a corner to pull off to and wait for someone to return to take your keys.

While I was comfortable overall and wouldn't hate to stay there again, the price tag ($650 for one person/two nights) was a little steep for what I actually got.

Das Hotel hat uns sehr gut gefallen.
Pros:

Das gesamte Personal war sehr freundlich. Das Parken des Autos wurde von einem Servicemitarbeiter des Hotels abgenommen. Abends speiste man vorzüglich auf hohem (auch Preis-)Niveau. Die Lage des Hotels war fußläufig gut von Chanias Zentrum entfernt. Direkt am Meer!

Cons:

Der Spa-Bereich ist nach unseren sonstigen Erfahrungen doch eher klein. Das Hamamm war im Sitzbereich leider kalt. Es gab keine Sauna. Nur drei Liegen!?

Exceptional property exceeding expectations
Pros:

We loved location, interior architecture and design, beautifully appointed rooms with all convenient features- lighting, storage, window shutters, balcony, sauna,etc…

Luxurious seaside hotel with exceptional service
Pros:

The Tanneries is a beautiful 5-star hotel with exceptional service! We especially enjoyed the seaside breakfast (amaaaazing made to order options) and the complimentary valet parking. The location is super nice on the water but also walking distance to the center of Chania or swimming spots nearby. The staff were very helpful with their recommendations for local beaches too!

Nydelig rom og fantastisk hotell. Spiste middag på hotellet som var av øverste klasse
Pros:

Fantastisk frokost- noe av det beste vi har hatt. Alle i familien var fornøyde. Vi var et reise følge på 6 voksne og ett barn på 1,5 år.

Cons:

Vi bodde på det jeg mener var rom 209, og gjennom hele natten var det en vedvarende pipelyd på rommet. Lyden vekket oss med jevne mellomrom og påvirket nattesøvnen vår betydelig. Vi tror pipelyden kom fra kjøleskapet på rommet. Jeg burde ha tatt dette opp ved utsjekking, men i all travelheten glemte jeg dessverre å nevne det.

I tillegg ble jeg skuffet over håndteringen på avreisedagen. Vi måtte sjekke ut kl. 11.00, mens flyet vårt ikke gikk før kl. 20.00. Vi var seks voksne og ett barn på 1,5 år, og jeg spurte derfor om muligheten for å beholde et rom noen timer ekstra eller eventuelt få tilgang til fasiliteter slik at vi kunne dusje før avreise.

Løsningen som ble tilbudt var en suite til 280 euro for 5,5 timer, noe jeg opplevde som urimelig kostbart. Vi fikk heller ikke anledning til å benytte dusjfasilitetene i spa-avdelingen, da denne var opptatt med massasje- og spaavtaler.

Jeg må si at jeg synes dette representerer en service som ikke står i forhold til standarden og inntrykket av et ellers flott hotell. Etter en natt med forstyrret søvn hadde jeg forventet større fleksibilitet og mer imøtekommenhet, spesielt når vi reiste som en større familiegruppe med et lite barn.

Jeg håper dere vil ta denne tilbakemeldingen til etterretning og vurdere om det er grunnlag for en form for kompensasjon eller annen oppfølging av saken.

This is our third time back, a wonderful relaxing stay
Pros:

Breakfast was exceptional, especially the location. Balcony view was stunning. Staff bend over backwards to help with impeccable English. Steam shower was a real treat. Big comfy bed.
