Pros:

If you are looking for a hotel off the beaten path the Basalt Hotel is for you. Clean, comfortable and a great staff. The surroundings are gorgeous. It is however a good half hour from any town.

Perfectly remote, clean, modern.
Pros:

Remotely located, which is a great thing, as it was quiet and we saw the Northern Lights with no difficulty, no crowd, and hearts full of joy. Super-clean room, modern, everything works, everything is cozy. Zero-entry shower (no tub) is a great touch. With floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides, revealing rural views, the breakfast/dining room is fantastic. My favorite Iceland hotel. Basalt Hotel is in a fine location, reasonably proximate to Thingvellier National park.

Cons:

It's not such a negative but be prepared, the road in-out that runs north-south (52) is in large part hardpacked gravel but lots of loose gravel, ruts, and potholes. A vehicle with some road clearance helps.

Pros:

Loin de tout, au milieu de rien, le calme absolu, et un "hot tube" avec vue sur la vallée. Un goût de paradis

Cons:

Horaire de fermeture de la cuisine pour le diner (21 H), alors que l'hôtel est situé loin de tout (et ça c'est bien) donc, il faut soit manger avant d'y aller, soit arriver avant 20 h.

Wonderful hotel with great staff, food, and rooms.
Pros:

The staff was very friendly, the room was very clean and spacious, the food was great, and the views were stunning. We would not have changed a thing! This was our favorite place that we stayed in Iceland.

Pros:

Camera molto spaziosa, pulita e confortevole.
Staff molto gentile. Colazione non molto varia ma comunque buona.
Posizione isolata immersa nella natura islandese, ottima per vedere l'aurora boreale.
Vasca termale esterna.

Cons:

Ristorante con menu con poca scelta di piatti.

Wunderbares Hotel
Pros:

Die Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit sind in diesem Hotel spitze. Man hat hier beste Voraussetzungen um Polarlichter zu entdecken. Das Haus ist modern, das Personal sehr freundlich und der Hot Tub hilfreich nach einem Tag voller Wanderungen. Beim nächsten Mal bleiben wir hier definitiv länger als nur einen Tag!

L'hôtel, au milieu de nulle part, bénéficie du charme de la campagne environnante.
Les chambres, modernes, sont très bien équipées et la literie confortable.
Le restaurant est très agréable, les plats sont bons.
Mention spéciale pour le bain chaud en extérieur, un vrai bonheur si vous parvenez à en profiter seul !

Cons:

Le petit déjeuner est relativement basique.
Manque de chance, l'hôtel était occupé à notre arrivée par un grand groupe touristique, et il fut difficile de s'entendre au restaurant, ou de se faire une place dans le bain au milieu de cette foule. Par ailleurs, dommage de laisser consommer de l'alcool dans le bain chaud. Les clients alcoolisés nuisent un peu à l'expérience nature !

Super Hotel um Nordlichter zu sehen und die Ruhe zu genießen
Pros:

Das kleine Hotel mit 13 Zimmern hat eine super Lage um Nordlichter zu sehen, der Hotpot am Hotel ist super. Das Abendessen ist sehr lecker und wird mit regionalen Lebensmitteln gekocht. Das Badezimmer ist riesig, Bademäntel sind vorhanden. Zum Frühstück gibt es frisch gebackenes Brot.

This place was so amazing!! So amazingly comfortable, stylish, and luxurious after some very sub par places that I stayed in Iceland. The staff was so helpful, the rooms were comfortable and spacious, the included breakfast was great and a total surprise bonus, and the outdoor tub and surrounding property were so beautiful and memorable. Highly Highly reccomend! Totally worth it!
