Geweldig hotel met ontzettend aardig personeel.
Pros:

Wat een heerlijk hotel!
Perfecte, schone kamer met een geweldig uitzicht. Fijn zwembad met voldoende bedjes. Ook voldoende bedjes op het strand, waar soms ook bedjes voor ons apart werden gehouden als hotelgasten. De bediening op het strand was ook perfect. Heel aardig personeel en we werden echt verwend.

All in all, we were really disappointed for how much money we spent for such a mediocre experience.

Pros:

Es ist ein sehr schönes kleines Hotel am Rande von Rethymno mit direktem Strandzugang und einer sehr schönen Poolanlage, bei der Platztechnisch alles rausgesholt wurde. Das Personal ist extrem freundlich und wir fühlten uns sehr willkommen!

Pros:

Wir haben die familiäre Atmosphäre sehr genossen. Sowohl die Besitzer als auch die Mitarbeiterinnen waren sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Ein höchst entspannter Strandabschnitt direkt über die Straße, mit eigenen Liegen war schon sehr angenehm. Auch, dass man am Strand jederzeit leicht etwas bestellen konnte war super. Alles war sauber und geschmackvoll mit viel Liebe zum Detail gemacht. Da für unseren Urlaubszeitraum bereits die Loft Suite teilweise gebucht war, hatten wir bewusst einen Zimmerwechsel gebucht. Der lief reibungslos und wurde uns sehr einfach gemacht. Generell muss man sagen, dass man auf Kreta wohl kaum entspannter urlauben kann, als in einer Unterkunft dieser (kleinen) Größe, die mit so viel Herzblut geführt wird.

Cons:

Das Frühstück war nicht in jeder Hinsicht Unsers. Man kann hier von einer Liste ungefähr wählen was man am nächsten Tag möchte. Im Hinblick auf Reduzierung von Müll fanden wir das gut und das Frühstück war dennoch reichhaltig und lecker. Wir sind auch keine Freunde von Buffets. Allerdings hätten wir uns neben dem Brot auch Brötchen und vielleicht auch Granola gewünscht. Generell war das Frühstück immer schön und sehr entspannt, wenngleich auch nicht gerade günstig. Nicht unerwähnt möchten wir die typisch griechischen Süßspeisen lassen, die wir morgens zum Frühstück bekommen haben. Die waren immer sehr sehr lecker.
Beim Bezahlen hätten wir uns im Nachhinein eine Aufstellung gewünscht. Nicht, weil wir den Preis zu hoch fanden, sondern schlicht, weil wir nach einer Woche keine genaue Vorstellung mehr hatten, was wir so bestellt hatten. Zugegeben ist uns das aber auch später erst aufgegangen und wir haben auch nicht aktiv danach gefragt.

Not quite luxury
Pros:

We stayed in a loft suite sea view room. It was just as shown in the photos. Rooms are new, very modern and clean. Well decorated. View from room is good with a nice balcony too. Bed is very comfortable. Shower is hot and great pressure.

The manager and staff were really helpful and very apologetic for the issues we had. They gave us some wine, chocolates and olive oil to apologise. They were very friendly and genuinely hospitable.

Overall it was an ok stay but given the issues we had, it was not quite luxury.

Cons:

Steep stairs are a bit awkward if you are older. Toilet is downstairs and bedroom upstairs so take care in the dark.

The shower and toilet had no ventilation fans and this caused some issues. The floor drains in both rooms are terribly smelly and as a result the whole suite had a bit of a foul stench. We had nice weather so we opened the balcony door which made it a lot better. With door closed it was quite unpleasant. The lack of ventilation also likely led to a false fire alarm at 1:30 am. We were woken by an ear piercing alarm which we assumed was a burglar alarm. It went on for about 20 minutes. There is no staff at the property overnight so guests had to phone the manager to get them to come to the hotel. We were awake for about 90 minutes in the middle of the night. All because a guest in a neighbouring suite took a hot shower and the steam set off the smoke detector and hotel fire alarm. Thankfully there was no fire as there was no attempt to inform us to evacuate the building.

On our first night we found sand in the bed sheets. The manager assured us that the sheets had been changed before we checked in but they were unsure as to why there was sand in the bed.

A wonderful home base to explore Crete from!
Pros:

This was lovely two-level suite, with a beautiful view out over the beach. It was thoughtfully designed, and had everything we needed to enjoy Crete. The thoughtful touches of complementary raki and treats were a nice touch. Wifi was good, and the AC did a great job of controlling the temperature. The suite had both a shower (downstairs) and full bath (upstairs) which was a nice touch, and the water temperature and pressure were both great. Free parking was always available for our rental car beside the property, which was very convenient.

Cons:

There was one issue with the electrical that affected the entire building as a result of heavy rainfall, but the staff worked quickly to address it despite being the middle of the night. The property was also a bit further to walk into old town than we expected.

Pros:

Viihtyisä, moderni ja tyylikäs hotelli ja huone. Todella ystävällinen ja miellyttävä henkilökunta. Hotellin edessä olevalla siistillä ranta-alueella oli hotellin asiakkailla käytössä ilmaiseksi erinomaiset rantatuolit. Aamiainen oli herkullinen. Siivooja kävi päivittäin, kaikki oli puhdasta ja toimivaa. Äänieristys hyvä, samoin ilmastointi. Sijaintikin oli hyvä. Hotelli on ison rantatien varrella, joka on täynnä ravintoloita ja kauppoja. Vanhaan kaupunkiin on parin kilometrin kävelymatka.

Cons:

Säilytystilat olivat hieman epäkäytännölliset, samoin kuin oleskelutilaan sijoitettu pesuallas. Vessan viemäristä lehahti välillä epämiellyttävä haju.

3 vrk:n aikana nämä asiat eivät ehtineet haitata, mutta pidemmällä oleskelulla ne voisivat ehkä hieman häiritä. Eivät kuitenkaan suuria asioita.

Pros:

Calla was the perfect spot to stay. Amazing service, the staff were very friendly. The rooms are as pictured, with thoughtful attention to detail. The pool is lovely and its close to the beach, shops and restaurants but not too in the thick of it so it still feels relaxing. Highly reccomend it!

Prachtig hotel met zeer gastvrij personeel
Pros:

Wij waren opzoek naar een kleinschalig comfortabel hotel, en dat hebben we gevonden bij Calla. Het heeft onze verwachtingen overtroffen: de perfecte ligging vlakbij het strand en dichtbij een stad, Rethymno. Het personeel was ongelooflijk vriendelijk en gastvrij. Ondanks we weinig tijd hebben gespendeerd in het hotel en eerder wat zijn gaan ontdekken, werden we telkens opnieuw warm onthaald. Wij hadden een kamer met jacuzzi, welke we iedere dag gebruikt hebben na een lange dag aan het strand/in de stad. Het zwembad hebben we niet gebruikt maar ook dit was prima onderhouden.

Cons:

Het enige minpunt dat we konden bedenken was dat de kamer vlak na de receptie lag waardoor we veel konden horen, soms voor ons al iets te vroeg in de ochtend.

Pros:

Everything about the suites was so well thought out and managed, everywhere was clean and tidy and everyone was so friendly and helpful.
Convenient for shops and restaurants, the beach across the road with sun beds and drink service.

Amazing boutique hotel in beautiful Rethymno
Pros:

Michael and Katja (and son) have created a wonderful boutique hotel, as Michael calls it "big hotel in a small size", absolutely wonderful
Every little detail was considered (bag for towels, bump protection for the head when coming down the stairs, best quality body lotion)
The suite had everything- excellent shower, good bath, enough towels (also beach towels), a kitchenette, a large living room, 2 ACs, convenient stools everywhere
The design of the suite was impeccable and so beautiful with 'smart house' features everywhere and very convenient to operate (electronic curtains, lights etc.)
The location is right on the beautiful beach with free sunbeds and umbrella ,the beach is cleaned and prepared daily
Located near the beautiful old town
good supermarket near by
Car parking easy to find
Michael helped us in everything we asked and gave us good advice on where to travel and when, Katja prepared a good list of recommendations online
The whole feeling is you are well taken care of with the highest quality products and human care
We were so sorry to receive the sweet farewell gift because it meant our stay there was over ;-) but we do hope to come back to this amazing hotel

Pros:

Lovely hotel and great location - close enough to town to get there pretty easily but far enough out that you could relax in a peaceful environment.

Highlight is definitely all the amazing staff who are so friendly and extremely helpful
