Oh what a wonderful stay!
Pros:

When we are stuck inside our house due to the intense heat, we, eventually, feel that we need to get away (even if it's only overnight) for a change of scene. As it was our anniversary, and we had read such glowing reviews of The Eddy Hotel, we decided to check in for a 3 day mini Staycation there.

We know that area quite well, and some of our favorite restaurants are very close by, so the location was perfect for us. We made plans for where we would go for lunches and dinners. However, we enjoyed the hotel so much, that we only left it once, and that was to go to the Apple Store for a new iPad.

The entire staff, and all the employees that we encountered, were friendly, pleasant and welcoming. Not once, did we pass a housekeeper in the hall, who didn't have a smile and a greeting for us. Our room and balcony were spotless. We love balconies, but in some other upscale hotels, we have had to get towels to lay out on the chairs, so as not to get our clothes dirty. Here, without any fear, we could sit on the balcony, wearing light colored clothing, and not worry.

Everything is of high quality here. The walk in shower is luxurious, and has a grab bar. The bottled soaps and lotions all have a faint very pleasant fragrance. The walls and doors are so solid, that you hear nothing inside your room. The bed and pillows are most comfortable, and the linens and towels, are like new. There are many seating areas scattered around, and, I think, that, during our three day stay, we tried them all out. Our very favorite spot was the small historical area in the lobby. It is so well done, very interesting, but not overpowering. This is where you find out why the name "Eddy".

As I mentioned, we had planned to go to some of our favorite restaurants in that area, but the food was SO good at The Eddy, that why bother going elsewhere. We ate 3 breakfasts, and 3 dinners there. Everything was not only very delicious, and the portions were perfect, but, also, the presentation of the dishes was a work of art. Not pretentious, but so appetizing. The Vienna Roast coffee was, most likely, the best coffee that we have ever had in a hotel. We are jam lovers, and Rita's Jam had us run to their small store, thinking that, perhaps, we could pick up some jars to take home. If I were them, I would have both Rita's Jam and the Vienna roast coffee packaged for sale at the Lobby store.

Back to the balcony. It was open on two sides, and there was no ceiling, only beams. We could sit there every night after dinner, as it had cooled off enough, and the couch was so comfortable. As we sat, and chatted, we noticed these birds flying around like acrobats. Had to look them up, and found out they were Nighthawks. They were so fascinating, that we could not stop watching them. In fact, one night, we sat there until 1:30 am, and did not even realize that it had gotten so late. What a show!

Anyway, we very much enjoyed our stay, and will be looking forward to coming here again. It was just wonderful!

Avoid at all costs. I WAS VERBALLY BASHED by staff!
Pros:

Horrible experience at the Eddy. The hotel is new and lovely, and we have stayed there before, so I booked again. Well, the first thing, the room was blowing super hot air. The person on duty tried to convince me that they don't have air conditioning due to saving money--not true, then he said it would shut off completely if I left the room but would come on in the room. That didn't happen. The maintenance guy came and agreed it was blowing hot air, this was late in the afternoon. So, they moved me. YAY-airco, I was in bliss. It's Arizona after all, one needs air conditioning, it's a basic human right here.

BUT
The room had the bed made but nothing else was done.
No towels was the first thing I noticed. I called and asked for them. They didn't come. There wasn't even one, nothing. So after an hour more, I walked down and got them myself.
Then the floor was dirty. There were multiple room keys next to where coffee should have bee but there was none, the bed was made but it had clearly been sat on, but still I was GRATEFUL for AIR CO so I persisted.

I went out to eat with my family, came back, and there was no conditioner, and the shampoo was so low that it didn't pump out. It was after 9 pm. I went down and asked for some. The guy working joked about how in all his years, this has never happened.

The fact that they thought it was funny and didn't care that I was put in a dirty room was appalling, but I was trying to just go with it.

He said, "Josh will take care of it." Because they charged me over $1200 in pre authorizations and the room was only $400...so I was trying to make sure that I was only charged for one room.

Well, on top of that. I had to log in with the first room number, as they didn't move me.
Fine, but every time I left the room, the key was deactivated, and the mobile never worked.
At almost 10 pm, the same thing happened again.

I went and asked the guy working if I could get them re-carded or whatever it's called, and that's when things took a turn for no reason.
He got really angry, and keep in mind I had accepted how gross it was to be put in an unclean room.

Well, he grabbed two keys, made FOUR new ones, took me upstairs, and used each one, one at a time, then tossed them one by one on the floor.
Now, I never said they didn't work; I said they worked, but if I left for any amount of time, they stopped working. Judging the volume of key cards in the room when I got there, I'm assuming something was wrong with that door----stuff happens, as they say.

But what made it worse is that he STORMED OFF after screaming at me, and he said, "I just had heart surgery, I don't want to deal with your INSERT CURSE WORD!"
I never gave him a hard time. There was no reason for him to be so rude.

Keep in mind I had been traveling since 5 am which is why I had just accepted the dirty room but I never should have been put there.
Then I called the corporate number and got someone overseas to see if I could transfer to a nearby hotel. He called the front desk and told me that the guy called me a B---yes that one.
Now look, even if I was a B, which I'm not, I kept thanking them despite being treated like dirt. I'm a paying customer. No one else would have put up with a dirty room.
I think the maid just got distracted and forgot to finish, but still....no apology or anything.

There was one guy, Donovan who I chatted with via the app and he was very nice but the other guy.

Like, I'm sorry he had heart surgery but to scream at someone, toss cards, call me a name?? All for asking for a new key?? That makes no sense.

In any case, I left the hotel. They said I won't be charged. I hope that's true.

It's a shame that this is allowed. If this guy truly has a heart condition, maybe some anger management courses should be in his future!

Loved it. Upscale yet casual!
Pros:

We had a great 1 night stay-cation here as we explored the west side of town this past weekend. Great location walking distance to Sullivan’s, PF Chang’s and Zinburger as well as all St Phillip’s plaza has to offer. The rooms we nice size, clean and an amazing bed!
Nice pool and hot tub, and a spacious and nice bar area. A few “games” like chess and table shuffleboard were in the bar area. Free coffee in the morning. The bar was nice for drinks but we did not eat there.
Loved it!
