Just great, easy and quiet. A
This was such a great stay!
We missed not having a staff member to talk to about questions and directions around the city
No staff on premises makes it inconvenient when you have a problem.
Bathroom design was poor with no place to set things down. Otherwise, the room was comfortable. There is no front desk and no restaurants nearby that were open for breakfast.
Worked good for a group of five
An interesting experience. This is a hotel that has no staff physically there most of the time. Check-in was easy though with a code provided. The room was in very good condition, although could have used some more cutlery, bowels, and plates as there is no breakfast at the hotel.
We did have issues with the door requiring your full body weight to lock, which wasn't obvious, and so we believed it was faulty initially as it wasn't locking. Customer services on the phone were very helpful and we resolved the issue. There was however another issue with the door not recognising our pin and locking for a period of time. Again Customer services were very helpful and we got in, but the door itself did cause us problems.
Property looked new and great but several things were broken / in disrepair. Sink faucet functioned but was very loose. Door wouldn’t close unless full body weight pressed against it. Outlets next to bed didn’t work.
We didn’t receive the welcome email with instructions.
Loved the hotel. It was modern, clean, and easy check-in and check-out access.
Room was clean and in a great spot in Reykjavik. Great Value!
Great 👍
Our check-in experience was terrible because when we arrived at the hotel around midnight after touring Reykjavik, we found out there was a blackout. The blackout cut power to the front door, leaving us stranded without any way to get in or ask for assistance. We stood there confused for 20 minutes on how to open the door until another man staying at the hotel manually opened the doors. In complete darkness and with no working elevator, my family and I had to carry our two large luggage (over 20kg each) along with our backpacks (4 around 10kg each) to the second floor. Luckily, our room's door was operational and we were able to enter the room. However, no electricity worked in the room; there were no lights and no way to plug our chargers. We needed to provide lighting with our devices. We deserve to be compensated for this terrible experience, please refund one night stay.
It’s a great place to stay for a great deal
The hotel has no electricity when we arrived at night and no backup power at the hotel. Had to use stairs to go to room on 3rd Fl with our big luggages. Not emergency light as well in the room. Contacted the customer service via text message but no answer
Friendly responsive staff
Our stay at the Alva Hotel was perfect. We liked the self-service feature - we found it very easy. The hotel was very clean, easy to access, and easy to grab a scooter and scoot into the centre or marina. We also loved that it was super quiet - and the beds were very comfortable. The room was a good size and super clean. Very happy and strongly recommend. Would stay again.
The room didn’t actually have a kitchenette. It did have a mini fridge and an electric kettle pot. That’s all. Not a kitchenette
No handicap ramps into hotel. No kleenex in rooms. Beds uncomfortable. Room hot. Called 3 times asking for early check in and the room was barely done 15 mins after the check in time. Codes are difficult to use on doors. Tried to cancel 24 hrs after booking bc I double booked by accident and they wouldn’t let me even with trip insurance. Rooms small even with the premium double.
We really liked our stay. Everything looks new and very modern. Big room and comfortable bed. I really enjoyed the explanation about the water source that was display in the bathroom. Very, very clean !! My only complaint is that our bed had 2 broken leg stand. The staff had put wooden blocks to try to fixed, whoever in the morning the bed frame was uneven and the head of the mattress by morning was touching ground. If I had something to dri k I would had believed it was the alcohol making me feel upside down. We only stay 2 days otherwise I would had to ask to change rooms.
I still would recommend for any one that wants to stay close to downtown within a 5 min drive and easy access to the highway and would stay again.
