Sub-par this time...
Pros:

Have stayed here 7-8 times now (since 2024, and booked for another stay in 2027). The location is ideal for us. Clean and comfortable. Have stayed in a few different rooms (usually king bed rooms). Easy access and good every time, actually excellent the majority of times. However most recent stay did not keep up with expectations.

Cons:

Most recent stay, Room #12. Room still clean, comfortable. Was very hot outside while there (applies to #2-4 below). However:
1. Shower with constant dripping - not slow or occasional. Constant, loud. Shower worked fine, but to stop drip had to stand there and hold the handle firmly at the off position. Constant, loud dripping immediately when letting go. Heard it less with bathroom door closed, but bothersome still. And wasteful. Amount enough to keep shower door 1/3rd way up and half of shower floor wet.
2. Ceiling fan just outside bathroom door - high speed very noisy, like fan blade/fixture making very slight contact but causing very loud noise. Not occur on medium, but with hot weather needed fan on high speed.
3. Windows do not have screens, and are just above ground level. Once it cooled outside, needed windows open to cool off the room (no air conditioning in rooms only in hallways/common areas). But no screens on any of the 4 small windows, thus small flying bugs in room.
4. Window on left side of room (across from the door to the room) - handle completely broken off of the window and was sitting on the window sill.

We have stayed in this room at least 3 times. We recall no screens on windows previously also, but were there in cooler months so not an issue at that time (also had been raised as an issue in other reviews). Prior stays in this room were great - not had this many bothersome/undesirable issues (or in other rooms stayed in previously).
Maybe a one off, but the shower issue should have been immediately noticeable to housekeeping staff - at the rate it was dripping and the loud noise - would warrant repair, especially with the place being fully booked for the weekend we were there for an event in Astoria, and with "surge"-like pricing because of the local event as well.

This was a very short stay and the weather was rainy so I was limited on seeing much of Astoria.

Pros:

Clean and comfortable. Great location with a nice view.

Cons:

There was a ceiling fan, but I couldn't figure out how to turn it on. There was no way to adjust the room temperature. I could open the windows but they didn't have screens and since it was at ground level I didn't feel comfortable leaving windows open throughout the night. There was a tower fan in the room, but it was still a little warm even while using that.

Check in was a breeze, needs more attention from house keepers!
Pros:

Very smooth check in process.

Cons:

Cleanliness was not up to par. Many stains on comforter/ pillows that needed to be treated before a bed was made with them. Lots of hair left behind in the shower. I submitted photos to the text line for the front desk. There was also multiple pieces of plastic around the/ underneath the bed. And lots of dust on the nightstands, etc…. I work as a housekeeper for a high end company and there was some basic cleaning necessities that needed to happen in this room and did not unfortunately.

Sterile, noisy, soulless, no staff, but in exchange for a good location.
Pros:

Location was good, parking was good, and the flowering tree in front of the hotel was beautiful. But everything else was poor, sterile, and soulless.

Cons:

Really disappointing. Felt like sleeping in a doctors office. Cold, sterile. Not minimalist design, but simply lack of any warmth or design sense at all.

Zero staff felt like cutting corners to save money, just like the lack of a shower curtain in the bathroom. The room layout was poor, lacked anywhere to sit, and the lamp wouldn’t even turn off without unplugging it. Even the TV was in an awkward place. A few cups in the room to drink water would be the simplest of additions, instead of the friction of taking my phone (to remember the door code), and going to the kitchen to find a disposable cup.

Even the windows were high like basement half-windows, and looked out onto the sidewalk. You have to keep the blinds closed or people can watch you sleep or shower. If you crack the windows even a little, it would be a security issue, as someone could easily force them open. The doors are all metal, with one of those industrial door closers at the top, which also added to the industrial/doctors office feel.

Maybe a doctor would feel at home in what clearly felt like a doctors office, but no one else would. Even if you are super introverted, and would like the staff-free hotel, I’m sure you’d hate to call someone awkwardly on a phone to sort out any issues. And don’t forget your phone in your room, or you’ll loose the code and get locked out of the building without any way to get help!

What qualifies them to list this as a four star hotel is beyond me. I have never felt like someone was using me to make money as much as this hotel. Really disappointed.
