Very good service
There behavior kind of like family, so much comfort in being there for 1 day.
There behaviour and sense of humor is very much good definitely recommend to this homestay.
What an amazing host is Rahul ! Even if our train was delayed and we arrived at 2am he was so welcoming and helpful. We came back to Arathi Niwas Guest House when we came back to Siliguri for few days. Rahul had the best food recommendations, and helped us so much (to reload our phone, to book our train tickets, to get food when I had headache...). Thank you so much again !
The accomodation is simple but perfect for what is needed, and for the really low price it's totally fine.
The location is really good, close to city center train and bus stations.
Great spot with a perfect location just a short walk from both the bus stand and the railway station. The place is clean and cozy, and Rahul, the owner, is incredibly kind and helpful. He really goes out of his way to make you feel at home. The home-cooked food here is a total win—fresh, tasty, and comforting. Highly recommend this place.
Good
Every thing is ok
The host is a PRO in handling guest. He makes every effort to make his guests feel comfortable and at home.
I'm sure most of the guests whom he hosts are definitely happy.
All the best 👍🏻👍🏻
The care taker is very helpful.
A lovely stop between Kolkata and Darjeeling. Lovely and I will be back, thanks Rahul, simple but good, perfect
I consider this an outstanding property, but it comes with some important caveats that a traveler must understand.
This reminds me of an old-school Asian backpacker guesthouse, which is exactly what I was looking for.
What this means is that the amenities are minimal but that is to be expected especially for the price and it’s true for any backpacker-oriented guesthouse.
You will have a wooden bedstand without a boxspring, with a thick pad instead of a mattress, and a few normal thickness blankets. There are no windows (which actually increases the safety of the room), and the room is simple but clean. There is a ceiling fan.
There are basic bathroom facilities without hot water, and both and Indian and western style toilet with spray nozzles.
The property is extremely close to the railway station, which is a large benefit for someone who likes to keep on the move. The owner will walk over with you and make sure you get the right tickets if you have any concerns.
At this point if you’re wondering why I would rate this as a 10 it’s completely because of the host.
I don’t believe I’ve ever met someone who is so dedicated to hospitality, and providing the best possible information and service to traveler.
Even after leaving, he will stay in contact with you to give you advice and to make sure you stay safe and have a productive and enjoyable travel throughout India.
He has taken me around on his scooter to try to arrange ongoing transportation. He will make sure you have a good experience and recommend other fun activities in Siliguri. He is outgoing with a jovial and effervescent attitude.
So, as long as one understands that this is a backpacker standard accommodation, and not a boutique hotel, you will get what you expect at an unusually low price, with hospitality that is unparalleled without exaggeration on my part.
The owner has expressed that he will be making improvements as time goes on, and things like a more comfortable bedding arrangement, either an actual mattress or thicker underlying pads will help provide a more sound sleep and prevent back stiffness in the morning. Hot water showers would always be advantageous, but I understand at this price point few, if any, properties would provide that. Again, remember this is a backpacker standard accommodation, so have realistic expectations.
The accommodation owners are lovely. It’s really handy for the bus station. It is very basic, but I think the price is good. Clean sheet and towel provided.
The mattress is incredibly thin so the bed is very hard. Pretty noisy with people talking and banging, and the train horns throughout the night. Pillows didn’t smell very nice. So was hard to sleep there. No Wi-Fi in the room, but there normally is I think. I booked the day I arrived and they weren’t able to sort it in time. They let me use the Wi-Fi in their home, which is just a couple of doors down and worked well.
food was good, location really close to the center of the city
The property is average nothing fancy but the people Rahul dada and hid dad was amazing.
