In ieder hotel is het ontbijt na de eerste nacht een speurtocht in het onbekende. Ik zag geen buffet, wel enkele gasten die ontbeten in de veranda. Op mijn vergeefse verkenningstocht ontmoette ik een tamelijk pummelige jongeman, geheel in het zwart gekleed, die me amper een knikje gunde. Had hij een wit hemd gedragen en een zwarte broek, dan had ik gemeend dat hij tot het personeel behoorde. Nu niet. Na nog wat ronddwalen ontmoette ik hem opnieuw en sprak hem aan met mijn vraag. Dan werd ik naar een tafeltje gebracht en verder correct geholpen. Het uitzicht was heel mooi. Het glazen dak van de veranda was bestrooid met elementen afkomstig van de nabije eik. Dat glazen dak - zeker onder een boom - is een fout van de architect. Die denken nooit aan het onderhoud!

Cons:

Het was een beetje eigenaardig dat 's nachts de huisdeur ongesloten bleef, wat ook zo gebleken is, met als gevolg dat theoretisch om het even wie 's nachts aan uw kamerdeur kon staan, als het daar al bij blijft. Tegenwoordig bestaan er toch sleutels die op de kamerdeur passen en tegelijk ook op de huisdeur.

Excellent stop, wish I could have stayed longer.
Pros:

The hotel is actually a golf and polo club, with 5 star rooms. I booked it because I wanted somewhere convenient to stop over on a long trip, and it was available. Had I known I would have stayed longer and used the excellent golf course. The restaurant food is superb, staff and members were very helpful. This location is an ideal place to stay if you want to avoid city/town centres, and it is close to a main highway access, but the hotel itself is silent. The staff also helped me plot a route to avoid Antwerp, Brussels, and Ghent, which are disastrous for traffic at the moment.
