"Excellent Staff, peaceful beautiful scenic location"

The staff at this hotel were truly exceptional. Their friendliness and helpfulness were outstanding. Upon our arrival, the internal road leading to the hotel was completely covered in snow. The staff went above and beyond their duties by assisting us in clearing the path, ensuring we could safely reach the hotel. Their hospitality was deeply appreciated. The dinner and breakfast was excellent.

Note for Owner: While the staff were fantastic, ensuring a clear route to the hotel for guests arriving by car, especially during winter months will be helpful.

Gorgeous location with breathtaking views of the mountains and Lake Hallstatt
Pros:

We had a view from our room to die for - it was outstanding. Loved the books everywhere although most were in German which is fine of course but loved how there were books all throughout the accommodation.

Cons:

Breakfast was basic but perfectly decent. Perhaps the hotel is a little bit on the expensive side compared to the range of amenities on offer but otherwise really can’t fault it.

Wasted potential
Pros:

Physically the hotel was built and designed quite good. It's not stunning as it could be, but the views are superb, also very quiet. It shares a public parking with recreational area, which includes hiking, via ferrata, skiing and MTB trails.

Cons:

Service is a nightmare. There were two ladies from Asia, very polite and no doubt with some good training. But there is no reception, no rules anywhere visible, I got never handed a menu. I asked 3 times for better breakfast, got regular very poor one without vegetables. One lady seems to barely speak English, I couldn't understand her, maybe also because she was speaking incredibly quiet. You go to food area and wait, when ladies will come outside kitchen. Maybe in 5 maybe in 15mins. Is there dinner? Who knows, I just saw people waiting for it so I joined. When breakfast starts? When I hit closed doors at 7:30 I assumed it have to be at 8:00.

Wonderful hotel with disappointing breakfast

Excellent location, wonderful view, nice idea with the books, very quiet and clean. A "dream" place to have a rest.

Cons:

Breakfast was a major disappointment. There was breakfast included in the room rate but it was only very basic - no fruit, no vegetables, jogurt, musli or good quality cheese. Only one egg - no choice on how you wanted it cooked. It easily took 15 or 20 minutes to arrive. There was an option of a better breakfast for 19 euro per person which also included scrambled eggs, vegetables, some fruit, jogurt with musli and smoothie (this is the breakfast you see in the photos). I must admit that this misleading concept spoiled my overall impression. And I know many of the other guests felt the same. What a shame.

Pros:

This was my first time staying at a “reading hotel” and I absolutely loved it! I loved the idea of wearing slippers around the hotel to give me that feeling as if I was home. I loved the view from the hotel especially sitting outside to breathe in the refreshing air. Being from an urban city, it was my first time seeing cattle, lambs and roosters that would cross the roads, the view from up top on a bright summer morning, and view of the picturesque mountains. The staff was very kind and helped me with any questions I had. I highly recommend this place to anyone hoping to stay near Hallstatt as it was only 20 mins away.
