The best place during our colombia trip, absolute exceeded expectations. If you are interested in organic food, women's farmers, a beautiful finca on the hill outside of busy villages, delicious homemade food and a beautiful and friendly host with a passion for her garden and lifestyle, then look no further and book this place!!
Nothing, absolutely nothing
This was by far the best hotel we stayed in. The beautiful view in the morning, the quality of all the organic food, freshly picked out of the garden and the lovely owners Yilema and Maria-Paula made us stay even longer than originally planned. Everything is made with love and a lot of care.
Yilema also shared some interesting insights about the local life and helped us plan the rest of our trip.
Our time at TierrActiva was the highlight of our trip to Colómbia. We were doing some volunteering in the San Agustín area and decided to spend a weekend off at TierrActiva. The hotel was beautiful, impeccably clean, and situated atop the mountain with incredible panoramic views of the surrounding area (there is even a treehouse to enjoy the view from!). Our meals were all absolutely delicious, vegetarian, and created using a wide array of organically grown, indigenous foods from the farm. From the chachafruto that was used to add extra protein to the arepas, to the addition of edible flowers, and the recipes that were 100% created by Yilema herself, you can really feel how much care and love has been put into the experience.
Despite the fact that we spoke almost no Spanish, communicating with Yilema was extremely easy (via translate apps), and listening to her speak to us in Spanish actually helped us to start understanding more. Her daughter, Maria Paula, and employee, Sandra, (as well as Susy, Toby and Nichya - the furry friends) showed us so much graciousness and hospitality that we were excited to return for another stay the next weekend. We were able to join a tour of the farm, and learn more about how she employs organic and indigenous techniques to grow so many different varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and of course coffee! Yilema also helped arrange a wonderful horseback riding tour for us and transportation to the airport. Visiting TierrActiva ending up feeling like a full cultural immersion, and we left with so many great memories. Thank you!!
This was without a doubt the most amazing hotel we had during our stay in Colombia. Host Yilema was so friendly. She showed us her amazing organic garden and cooked some of the best food we had. A beautiful place to connect with nature and each other.
Yilema and her daughter, Maria Paula were kind and attentive hostesses. They taught us about plants, organic agriculture, local culture, and archeological sides of the area. They provided us with information with what to see and where to go in and around San Augustine. They provided us transportation to the hotel on arrival and departure days. We loved their healthy and delicious breakfasts and dinners. Welcomed tea was amazing. Our room and bed were comfortable and clean.
I also had an amazing massage that Yilema organized for me.
Overall, we had a beautiful experience! Yilema's farm is a place to connect with nature and relax. Highly recommended!
