Our family of 4 spent 3 nights here at Villa Yira in the jungle and it was incredible! We loved waking up to a delicious breakfast, watching the hummingbirds, looking for monkeys and swimming in the spectacular pool. The pool is bigger than we thought it would be. Nature sounds and a relaxed vibe, we slept great. We did a chocolate tour and some hikes right by the hotel which were fantastic. The jungle huts are very spaced out for privacy for everyone and gives you a true jungle experience. You may encounter wildlife, it is Tayrona Park, and that's exactly what we came for.
It was exactly what we were looking for, a bit secluded, in the jungle, where we could eat great (home-cooked Colombian food was delicious, piña coladas by the pool), swim and relax. Would highly recommend it!
The access is a bit difficult, but the hotel booked us a 4x4 transfer to get us to the hotel. It was seamless and easy!
We really felt at home and loved our jungle hut with all its jungle noises. Very nice people with 2 lovely sons, great pool and absolutely fantastic food.
Nothing. However, it is important to arrive at daytime and travel with backpacks. Moto taxi’s can take you and your luggage up the hill. Kids too.
We loved our stay here! Perfect place for a getaway to the sounds of nature. The motorbike transport was fun, staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing:)
The nature was perfect, the room was really nice and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place!
We had the most wonderful few days at Villa Yira. Ruben, Diandra and their kids were so welcoming - as were the staff (we especially love Machu the dog too!)
The location is simply incredible. Peaceful and picturesque, in the jungle surrounded by nature. Be sure to get a mototaxi up the hill with your luggage though for 10,000 COP. We didn’t realise how far it was and lugged everything up hill.
Great food, pool and team. They gave us an upgrade of the room without extra cost and were very hospitable in general
Apart from the cooking - nothing. We didn't like anything.
We booked the ‘quadruple room with private bathroom’ which said in the website" a view of the mountains and the swimming pool". hahaha
It's all a lie. a big rip-off. no balcony/ no view of the pool or else I'm blind.
Because these rooms are above the bar and restaurant, there are no windows and it's as if you were on a mezzanine above the bar/restaurant.
This means that you can hear everything, as they are very poorly insulated.
Big surprise and big disappointment when we arrived. There were no other rooms, the owner's brother assured us that everyone would go to bed at 9pm (even on 31 December) so we stayed - we had just come back from a trek and were exhausted.
On 31 December, of course, the guests weren't in bed.... they were in the restaurant drinking, chatting, the children were playing .... in short. I went downstairs at 10.45pm to express my dissatisfaction and Sergio was aggressive and made me look like the customer who was ruining everyone's New Year's Eve.
Note that the price of this room is the same as a bungalow for 3 people ...
When it was time to pay I asked for a discount because of the disturbance, Sergio shouted .... I really thought he was going to hit us ..... my son was traumatised.
Conclusion: avoid these rooms and go to bungalows instead.
The women of the hotel were super friendly and helpful and really made our stay very comfortable. The chefs were very friendly as well and are truly great cooks.
You have to walk some 20 minutes from the main road to get to the hotel, it would be great if they can put some signals up of where to go exactly as it was not too clear, other then that we also enjoyed the walk and saw some toucans and hummingbirds on the way.
Lots of plants, pool with some shade, elegant design of our cabin.
(1) I needed better advice on the booking website on how to arrive (stop at Kilometer 28 on the main highway, ask for a motorcycle taxi). (2) I'm told the food is excellent, but the price was set so high we never tried it because the restaurant up the road cost 1/3 of our hotel's price. Ideally, it would have been pleasant to eat in our own hotel. The hotel should find a way to charge a price with a premium, but not so high guests don't want to eat there.(3) Lastly, the host's children were charming, but watched videos in the main lounge area at a time I wanted to sit there and relax. Perhaps the hostess could teach her kids to ask guests if the guests would prefer a lower volume on the video, or use headphones when guests come in the evening.
The staff, the food, the drinks and the hospitality
Nothing. It was all great
We had a wonderful time at Villa Yira.
This family is really fantastic and helps wherever necessary.
The place is slightly remote, but beautiful. Tyrona national park is easy to reach.
Not to forget, the food was exceptionally delicious.
