Authentic and beautiful and the shutter blinds were amazing

The Pig in the Wall was a gem of a find. Beautifully appointed, perfectly situated in the older quarter of Southampton and with a superb breakfast grazing table and dinner menu. At the height of a heatwave they went above and beyond attempting to make the rooms as comfortable as possible, gave a room upgrade and assisted with luggage transfers. Outstanding experience in hot and testing conditions!
Nothing to complain about. Three flights of stairs to get to our room, but we knew this when we booked and it was not an issue. Our bags were moved to our room for us when we arrived, which was very appreciated.
It was a cozy place convenient to walking around. Right in the city wall! Breakfast was great; dinner was excellent. Staff a wealth of knowledge. Would definitely stay again!
No lift; but staff were very willing to carry our bags upstairs!
Everything food was exceptional staff were amazing

Ideal location.
Decor lovely.
Staff friendly.
Food fabulous
We were called ahead to let us know that there were issues with the air con and temperatures were expected to be mid 30s - we were offered a smaller room that did have air con and took that - the duty manager was excellent and looked after us so well to recompense us for the smaller room.
There was nothing we didn’t like
Excellent staff location and food is amazing

The ambience generated by the aesthetics and the staff. Perfect treat to stay there.
Nothing to dislike. Unless it’s “not for you”…

The quality of the room
A little bit pricey but was happy with the price once we saw the room
It was so quaint but with modern conveniences. So much history. Walking the wall afforded great views.
Front steps could use a railing
We loved the fascinating and historical nature of the hotel, and its location was central. The breakfast was excellent. The room was comfortable, with a great shower, and air-conditioned-- which was really needed the days we were there.
No lift!--we were staying in advance of a three week cruise, and had 3 large suitcases with us. Our room was up two long flights of stairs, in a roasting glass enclosed stairway. The staff on duty were two small women, and while trying very hard, were not sufficient to get our bags upstairs without us being heavily involved. Given the apparent historic restrictions(?) on installing a lift, what about installing a dumbwaiter or winch so that bags could be hoisted up to the second and third levels? Also we were dropped off by an uber who didn't know that there was an area to drive into to make unloading easier. Instead we had to get our bags out in front of the hotel in a no parking zone, and it all felt a little hectic. A little more information on the confirmation about that unloading location would have been appreciated.
Gorgeous hotel. Great location. Friendly staff. Really tasty food.

Loved the quirkiness and history of this property, they endeavoured to keep all the decor and detail in line with the age of the era of the property. Everything was perfect, premium toiletries and products. Facilities excellent and staff so helpful and friendly. We were a one night stay pre cruise, location was perfect for port but also to discover the old town of Southampton. Plenty of restaurant options nearby. So pleased we stayed here and what a wonderful place to stay.
The staff was exceptional - everyone! No matter who we interacted with, he/she was spectacular.
I booked two superior rooms - one if the rooms was very much smaller
