Pros:

The room we stayed in was very comfortable and the pool was very relaxing (although that's probably because it was empty).The hotel is lovely and there's plenty of parking available. The location was good, far enough from traffic and noise but very easy to get to nearby towns (if you have a car, I'm not sure how easy it is using public transport).

Staff were very friendly but very sparse. The inside of the house was also very tired looking. The cottage we stayed in

Cons:

We stayed in a cottage. Stunk of damp and hadn’t been cleaned properly for a long time. Needed upgrading, very tired

Pros:

Lovely old building, yet bedroom was clean and modern. Very friendly staff

Cons:

Pool was over heated considering how hot it was outside (29 degrees). We had been hoping to having a refreshing swim.

Faenol Fawr has the potential to be a quality hotel but it requires an upgrade in several areas.
Pros:

The rural location and historical associations make this a compelling place to try for a short stay.
Staff all very pleasant.

Cons:

Parts of it needed a clean eg cobwebs in the breakfast room.
Our room wasn’t made up during our stay.
The breakfast was very basic: no fresh fruit, jars of nuts, dried fruit etc almost empty on both mornings.

I was disappointed with the mixed messages, food served until 17:00 but when we arrived it was 16:00

Disappointment!!!!!!!
Pros:

Staff were nice and room modernized. Shower was good!

Cons:

Huge place I've stayed at before and was great but this time room was little grubby with hair clip on bathroom floor and did not serve dinner anymore which is no good as they are out of town. Plus pool shut!!
