One of the best hotels that I have stayed in so far within India. Lovely staff, great location, beautiful view. The service is just exceptional. I would definitely stay in the same hotel if travel to Darjeeling again.
Very kind and attentive staff. The room was spacious, with a comfortable lounge area and a heated blanket that made for a cozy night’s sleep. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. The views must be incredible in clear weather—although it was foggy during our stay, we still really enjoyed the experience.
Minor hiccup with the room heating, but it was resolved quickly by the staff.
Superb location on the hill top, rustic buildings with all the modern amenities in the rooms, delightful food, very clean and ever attending courteous staff and front office, especially the GM of the hotel who was constantly enquiring the comfort and convenience. Overall brilliant experience and full value for money.
We stayed at Cedar Inn for 2 nights in December 2025 and we had an awesome time.
1. The location is far from the hustle of Mall Road so you can enjoy peace and quiet. However, you do get free pick and drop from the Mall so exploring is not really an issue.
2. The rooms are super cozy with a fireplace, room heaters, and electric blankets. All were very welcome in the December chill. The fuzzy slippers were way too cute.
3. The management under Mr. Sanjay Nangia is exceptional. We have rarely experienced such joyful hospitality. From local recommendations to arranging our transport for the entirety of the journey, Mr. Nangia took care of it all and made us feel right at home. The hotel feels as if you are visiting someone's home and that is such a cosy feeling.
4. The view is exceptional. All rooms face the mighty Kanchenjunga and if you are as lucky as we were, you will be blessed with fabulous sunrise scenes of the mountain. Pro-tip: You can ask the reception for a wake-up call to see the sunrise or when the mountain is visible.
5. The food and the service itself was top-notch. Breakfast spread was varied and the a-la carte was exceptional.
If you like small cosy hotels instead of big impersonal chain hotels, I would highly recommend this one for sure!
Five stars for the hospitality alone! The staff at Darjeeling Cedar are incredibly polite and provide a level of service that is rare even in top-rated hotels. The hotel is quiet, beautiful, and exactly the kind of place I love to spend time in. The rooms are cozy and well-maintained. I felt completely at peace during my stay."
had read several reviews praising the manager before my arrival, and I can happily say he is exactly as wonderful as everyone describes. His leadership clearly reflects in the polite staff and the unique hospitality found here. It’s rare to find a place that perfectly matches—and then exceeds—its reputation."
The only disappointment was the bad weather, which meant I couldn't see the Kanchenjunga views or visit Changu Lake.
Usually, a hotel review begins with the architecture or the breakfast spread, but at Cedar Inn, the soul of the experience isn't the building, it’s the people. I have to begin with the extraordinary team led by the remarkably capable Mr. Sanjay Nangia, who truly goes several extra miles to ensure every single need is met with precision. His care begins well before you even set foot in Darjeeling; he was tracking our comfort before we arrived and continued to follow up with genuine goodwill long after we had checked out.
Every single aspect of the stay bears his personal stamp of excellence, an energy that is perfectly mirrored by every member of his team.
Each person we encountered was an absolute gem, making the service feel less like a formal transaction and more like being looked after by family.
The hotel itself is a masterclass in Himalayan elegance, perched 6,700 feet above sea level where old-world British charm meets the crisp mountain air.
Every single room is a suite that opens directly toward the mighty and gorgeous snow-peaked Kanchenjunga.
The landscapes visible from every direction are so stunning they make you want to absorb the views for an eternity.
A significant part of this charm comes from the exquisite craftsmanship found throughout the property. The use of the finest quality wood in the rooms and the overall layout creates a warm, tactile luxury that feels both grounded and incredibly refined. This rich woodwork extends a timeless grace to the interiors, making the space feel like a cozy mountain sanctuary rather than just a hotel.
The culinary experience is equally elevated, starting with a truly scrumptious breakfast spread that sets the perfect tone for the day.
The a la carte menu is a triumph of flavor, clearly built on the freshest ingredients and prepared with a level of care that is hard to find elsewhere. Dinner time is particularly magical; as the silence of the mountains settles in, a live pianist plays melodies that echo through the halls, beautifully complementing the deep, silent calm of the high-altitude nights.
Beyond the physical comforts, there is a constant peace and a deep sense of calm that runs through the entire vibe of the hotel. We were moved to learn that the property is owned by a group of spiritual Buddhist owners who dedicate the proceeds and profits to the betterment of people. Knowing that your stay contributes to such a noble cause adds a layer of serenity to the experience that is impossible to replicate.
It isn't just a stay, it’s a moment you wake to again and again, where each time you open your window, a new version of the mountains reveals itself through the mist.
This is truly an unmissable, once-in-a-lifetime experience in the Queen of Hills , a sanctuary that stays with you long after you leave Darjeeling. Highly and strongly recommended!

Had a fantastic stay at Cedar Inn. General Manager (Mr Sanjay) was an absolute delight and the entire hotel staff were great. I rarely say this but the rooms were phenomenal and very on brand for an Inn. Food was also well prepared and delicious. Every breakfast was spent with happy full bellies.
I even extended my trip by 1 day just to spend an extra night in the hotel.

We traveled as a family and had a wonderful experience. The stay was excellent, and the food was equally impressive. The service was impeccable—special thanks to the GM and the entire staff for their warm hospitality. The views and the overall ambiance of the property were outstanding, and it still retains its charming colonial character. A must-visit!
My wife and I stayed in Cedar Inn, Darjeeling, for 4 nights in the second week of January 2026. We were there for a get-together with my old college mates and their families. Let me summarize my review by stating that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cedar Inn.
It was our first trip to Darjeeling. So, I don’t know about the other hotels in Darjeeling, but we were able to enjoy the gorgeous view of the Kanchenjunga peaks right from our room. More specifically, every morning we watched the changing colors of the peaks in the Kanchenjunga range and felt awestruck as the rays of the rising sun created magic on those white snow-covered peaks. And that too while lying under a comforter and on a warm bed (yes, an electric blanket under the bedsheet kept the bed warm while a room heater kept the room temperature comfortable). All members of our group had similar awesome views from their own rooms. The view was so fantastic that we even cancelled our plans to go to the Tiger Hills.
The hotel had a beautifully manicured lawn and flower gardens facing the mountains, where one could sit, soaking in the sun (lucky for us the weather was gorgeous!) and drink tea (or any beverage of choice) – a real luxury.
The hotel has a small library with a collection of fiction and non-fiction titles. The management kept the hotel premises very clean.
Besides the view, both the hospitality and service were personal and heartfelt. General Manager Sanjay Nangia personally attended to ensure our comfort and tried his best to meet all our requests.
The food served at the hotel was excellent. Every day we enjoyed a very nice spread of buffet breakfast, and a very nice selection of well-prepared starters and main-course dishes (including at least one ‘local’ dish) as well as desserts were offered during the dinner. What was very welcoming was that hot chapatis and freshly prepared momos were served right at the dinner table! All the staff members, especially the waiters in the dining room were, very attentive and polite. They tried their best to serve everything we requested. Every evening during dinner time there was a Piano player at the dining hall playing different tunes.
Although the hotel was located a little bit away from the famous Darjeeling ‘The Mall’, tucked in a calm and quiet location, the hotel management provided free drop-off and pick-up services to the Mall area when requested.
All in all, my wife and I highly recommend this hotel, and I am sure my fellow travelers in our group would also agree with us in this regard.
Very quiet. Comfortable room. Dinners were good.
It is quite a way from the centre of Darjeeling.
Cedar Inn is a charming and cozy hotel that feels as if it were plucked from a storybook. It is thoughtfully equipped to meet every need, from multi-level room layouts offering perfect views of Khangchendzonga to well-appointed reading nooks and lounging corners. The property features a picture-perfect garden for to sit in & enjoy a cup of tea, detailed wooden interiors, charming staircases, skylights, and a curated souvenir shop. Notably, the functioning fireplaces in the rooms are a rare and wonderful feature.
The hotel is so well-composed by its architect that it reveals its nuances in an almost epiphanic way. However, what truly brings the establishment to life is the genuinely warm and welcoming staff. They are thoughtful, refined, and conduct themselves with formidable professionalism. Both literally and figuratively, the brass always shines at Cedar Inn.
At the helm of it all is the General Manager, Mr. Sanjay Nangia. He is a true gem of a person—resourceful, gracious, and a genuine connoisseur.
Cedar Inn is a destination in itself and an integral part of the Darjeeling experience. I highly recommend staying here for someone interested in the fields of Design, Architecture & hospitality whilst experiencing old-world charm, little joys, and the finer nuances life in Darjeeling, a place so many of us have imagined since childhood.
Beautiful property with incredible hospital team and special thanks to Sanjayji GM. You made the stay so comfortable..
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property with exceptional service!
Superb location with incredible views of Darjeeling city and Mt.Kanchenjenga. The rooms are cozy and well appointed (they even have an actual fireplace-perfect for Darjeeling winters) with stunning views. Really enjoyed all our meals here too.
Special thanks to Mr Sanjay Nangia for being an exceptional host! His warm hospitality, attention to detail and terrific guidance& assistance for not just our stay in Darjeeling but in Sikkim as well truly won our hearts.
We look forward to returning to Cedar Inn soon to once again enjoy the hospitality extended by the entire team at Cedar Inn. Thank you for a memorable stay!
