If you want to stay on a military base this is it, but I can’t recommend it since it’s way overpriced.
Pros:

The hotel appeared to be relatively new and so it was in good condition. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were very friendly and were doing their best to be helpful.

Cons:

Where do I begin! The hotel appeared to be located on some sort of military installation which gave the whole place a weird vibe. It was divided into two separate buildings that were a block apart; the building I was in had no amenities except for an outdoor pool which had no loungers and was being used by kids swimming laps in some sort of instructional class. The other building had what they called a restaurant but was more like an institutional officer’s mess. The breakfast “buffet” which I had paid for with my room was the worst I have ever encountered, and I travel a lot: No eggs, no fresh fruit, and no coffee! When I inquired, they said they could make an omelet, but it never arrived. For coffee they said I could go to another building and buy it! After I complained, they brought me a packet of instant coffee which was awful. There was no warm food: several Egyptian vegetable stews that were supposed to be warm had been sitting out for so long that they were cold. No one cleaned or reset the tables when people left so both mornings I had to scavenge utensils and clean up a table myself. The dinner buffet was better. The Egyptian stews, vegetables and chicken were tasty but had also been sitting out too long and were no longer hot. The hotel was noisy because it was designed poorly with no sound absorbing materials. I heard furniture in other rooms screeching across the tile floors and doors slamming at all hours. And the cleaning staff began noisily conversing and dragging equipment along the halls beginning at 8am. The hotel was way overpriced for what reminded me of a basic military officers’ temporary accommodation. The WiFi was terrible. And the location was a long taxi ride from Assiut’s town center.
