I really appreciated warm welcome and local knowledge of Lupe and Dean. The Hotel was a little oasis; a spacious open front breakfast area with a soothing vista of a swimming pool surrounded by copious plants and flowers and even a mature cactus tree. The cornucopia of diverse floral colours still lingers vividly in my mind.
As i requested breakfast was a simple fair of local fresh fruits such as papaya, authentic bananas, apples, lychee, oranges etc. toast and jams. On a few mornings i was introduced to a local breakfast staple called Vaisalo (a warm porridge like fayre made with coconut flesh and tapioca starch). Cereals were available and I presume eggs upon request.
A major attraction of Vaea Hotel is it proximity to the centre of town - 10 to 15 minutes walk max. Also there are local mini-marts, grocery stores; eateries and restau
rants within 5 to 8 minutes walk.
Overall I had a throughly enjoyable stay at Apia Vaea Hotel and would recommend highly to anyone who wants to get a flavour of real Samoan life and a more personable experience as a oppose to staying in a big resort.
I didn't book a long enough stay.
Great location accessible to everywhere in Apia.
Great breakfast and hosts Lupe and Naea.
Facilities average and good for value.
Location is so good. Minutes away from all the major attractions in Apia town centre. Easy to find after driving from the airport as it is just off that main road. Father and son team, Dean and Shane were fantastic hosts giving handy local information, adjusting breakfast to suit my dietary requirements. Fabulous pool and a great view of the mountain.
Very convenient and peace,quiet.
Inside the room it’s clean
The breakfast need to be buffet and need have some noo island food
Only stayed for a couple of days, but we loved everything about this place. It was the perfect combination of affordable comfort, staying in a very beautiful location without breaking the bank. Lupe was gracious, and the family were very attentive during our stay. Faafetai lava for your hospitality, we appreciate Vaea Hotel for housing my partner and I during our short time in Samoa
Not a complaint at all, quite the opposite- upon discovering a small leak in our bathroom, the staff were able to rectify it immediately with no drama. The only thing I’d nitpick, is that there were tiny ants in the room so we had to always make sure our food was stored in the fridge. Other than that, everything else was perfect!
El personal es muy amable y el desayuno estuvo muy rico.
Es un hotel pequeño pero muy acogedor, esta ubicado de manera muy discreta muy cerca del centro de la ciudad.
Clean, comfortable, a great location, really good breakfast and the hosts were attentive
Nothing
Lupe and the rest of the staff were really nice; it felt like we were just at home. They helped us a lot with questions about activities, shops, and restaurants. They were very welcoming and hospitable.
The location of the hotel was within the city boundaries, but it wasn't in overly crowded public areas or unnoticeable alleyways, so you could walk basically anywhere from the location.
We checked in at 11 p.m. in the evening, and they were still able to accomodate us warmly, and didn't make us feel like a nuisance.
It was unclear when we made the reservation that we had to pay an extra charge for the wifi, but it wasn't too much of a problem.
Owner friendly
Really hard to find, no signage on road just on the hotel door. Took me x4 trips around the block to finally knock on the door, as carpark looks like someone's home.
Room was very hot on arrival.
Room smelt very stale like it had not been aired for ages. Bedding outdated and very old style. Sorry I'm fussy especially with bedding but it smelt like Nana's moth balls back in the day.
Air con was very noisy and didn't cool the room in the 30mins we stayed.
Sorry the room we were given was nothing like the photos on website.
I paid in full before arrival and unfortunately decided we couldn't stay as I expected more or at least as we see in the gallery.
I didn't ask or expect a refund as it was my choice to leave but owner nice enough to offer a return free of charge.
Shane and Dean, both exceptional characters, couldn’t do enough for us.
Breakfast was more than adequate, never left breakfast feeling hungry.
Location is great, easy walk down the road to restaurants and into town .
Pool was kept spotless and great to relax in at the end of the day.
Not much really.
I did mark down “ value for money” previously. But that was from an Australian point of view. Didn’t realise Samoa was so expensive. Once there and seeing what else is available and their prices, then it is very good value.
Great value, kind owners, yummy breakfast.
Dogs barking
We loved our 5 day stay in Vaea Hotel. Such friendly hosts! The private swimming pool and surrounding garden is very beautiful and tranquil. The breakfast was more than adequate for us and well presented. The upstairs room had insect screens on all windows and was well ventilated. The a/c worked fine.
We paid the $50tala/week for wifi in room on arrival. This was well worth it. The wifi strength and speed was excellent. Easy pickup for taxis here and 3 grocery stores very close. Great cafe and interesting shops hidden down the street.
We loved the voucher for Coffee Roaster Cafe!
A great friendly Samoan experience!
There is a full bar here, maybe we could have an occasional happy hour/cocktail hour? A welcome road sign out front?
Could we maybe choose free wifi OR breakfast? Or have both? Is it time for a white paint refresh?
Could we have an umbrella and table at the pool? ❤️
The staff were amazing! So lovely so helpful! Beautiful hotel such a nice pool area and garden and rooms were great. Highly recommend!
Everything from the hosts to the location itself. Absolutely wonderful
Cleanliness of the rooms, pool and outdoor dining area, location and security of the property.
Host were friendly and helpful and it was easy to walk to local cafes/restaurants/shops for a bite to eat.
The breakfast included in the rate was wonderful.
Wifi not factored into the room price, unable to use the pool area whilst waiting on room to avail and property signage was not easily visible to locate when we were being transferred from prior property.
Rooms are very nice.
Breakfast area is very pleasant as is the pool.
Centrally located.
Two of the staff were not that friendly.
We asked for breakfast 15 minutes early one morning, it was refused.
Had to pay for WiFi, hardly anywhere in the world in this day and age do you have to pay.
The hosts were amazing. Beautiful breakfasts every day. Lovely outdoor area and garden setting. Room was comfy. Great location, close to town and many great food spots.
