Odalar çok pisti, klima kapalı olduğunda çok kötü bir sigara kokusu doluyordu, muhtemelen odaların ortak havalandırma sisteminden ve odalarda sigara içildiğinden. Odanın halısında kül ve yanık izleri vardı. Yatağın üzerindeki pikede de yanıktan olan delikler ve kan lekeleri vardı. İçinde de muhtemelen böceklerden kaynaklı, temiz olup olmadığı belli olmayan ufak kan lekeleri vardı. Duvarlarda böcek öldürmekten kalma kan lekeleri vardı. Havlular pisti. Konaklayan müşteri profili de kötüydü ki çok gürültülülerdi. Muhit de kötüydü. Gece geç saatte odaya gitmek için güvenli bir ortam olup olmayacağı şüphelendirdi.
