Lovely location by the canal, with a big car park. You can walk into Chester on the canal (45 mins) or drive to the nearby Park & Ride to get a bus. Fantastic friendly staff, several from the same family. Bar had an excellent selection of draught and spirits. Restaurant had a wide-ranging menu and food was well portioned for a good price.
Bedroom comfort wasn't the best (Room 14) - beds were too hard for us, and pillows too soft. To their credit the manager got us two new pillows from the store for our second night, which did help. However, room had good heating and you can open the windows. We were also located in the Annex so no pub noise.
I loved the peacefulness of the hotel being beside the canal, the rooms were spacious and had everything you’d need in them
The bed was quite firm which is something I’m not 100% a fan of but the bedding and facilities were lovely.
Comfortable, charming, clean and easily accessible.
The fires weren’t lit. 🙁
Lovely room great peaceful location tasty food and pleasant staff
Nothing!
Staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming.
The property is lovely and located next to a picturesque canel.
The pub is welcoming and food is lovely. Breakfast in the morning was delicious too
Absolutely nothing
Fabulous location, clean and food was amazing
first room was dark and difficult to access with one tiny window and inadequate lighting. Eventually relocated to a much more pleasant room in an adjacent building.
Impression that booking.com allocated rooms are often second best
Property was scruffy and in need of improvement
Location next to canal, the pubs food was excellent. chose to eat there both nights because the food on the first night was so good.
There is nothing i can think of,
Usually very friendly, but when I checked in the woman didn't welcome me , said sign here , no welcome, put the keys on the bar and said room out the back oroom is at the back, not the most friendly of welcomes I've experienced at the hotel, didn't ask if I needed a table for dining, surprised, always made to feel unwelcome
Didn't match up to the usual standard
Quirky decor, super clean, so easy to stay there
Nothing
A little old fashioned but nice, clean with charm. Pleasant staff and a nice pub below serving lovely food, decent value.
TV couldn't be mirrored to Iphone, needs an upgrade. Prefer card key access to rooms rather than old skool keys but in some whats this is also quaint.
