The location is truly strategic. Situated in a serene and secure part of the city, it offers a peaceful retreat while maintaining excellent proximity to the industrial and commercial hubs of Kampala. For anyone visiting clients across the city, it serves as an ideal, stress-free base that significantly cuts down on commute times. The breakfast experience was outstanding. There is a fantastic variety of fresh, high-quality options that cater to international tastes, ensuring a perfect start to a busy workday. The service in the dining area is prompt and attentive, allowing for a quick yet very satisfying meal before heading out to meetings
I don't think there was any point of improvement, things were really perfect, I mean there was good food, hygienic rooms, best cleanings, peaceful, entertaining, location was good for market, taxi facility and parking, co-operative staff etc. so all good for business and for tourist as well.
The hotel is located in a not too crowded area of Kampala, close to a couple of nice restaurants.
It has a nice swimming pool and a very practical underground parking for when it rains.
The staff and the owner are kind and friendly, and rooms have all the basic amenities, including AC and a spacious bed.
The hotel has a WhatsApp system to communicate with clients for instructions, payment reminders, etc, which I found practical.
The hotel is mainly a guesthouse for the employees of the owner’s main business - a furniture company - and the rooms are conceived more as small apartments, with sinks for cleaning dishes and spaces for non existent home appliances that eat up space.
More in general, the hotel suffers from a lack of management and a tendency to run the business as cheaply as possible that makes it a bit desolate and not particularly inviting. Rooms are worn out and dated, and the breakfast is scarce and inconsistent - no bread, no tea, fruits only two mornings out of four. Moreover, when we checked in our room’s bathroom hadn’t been cleaned - there were excrements from the previous clients still floating in the toilet.
Lastly, I didn’t appreciate the message sent to me via WhatsApp from the hotel the day of checkout, “kindly asking” for a 10/10 review on Booking. A good review is something you earn through service, not something you ask.
Overall a disappointing experience, there are better alternatives in Kampala in the same price range.
The staff were amazing, Miriame and Brenda at reception in particular. The hotel was quiet, which I appreciated, except for one night when there was a graduation party.
The room was cleaned, but one thing I noticed the cleaning staff didn't change the sheet the whole 3 days I was there. Although they cleaned the room.
Hospitality
Their staff were very friendly and receptive. The room was clean and very functional. The bed was comfortable and the hotel's location is very accessible even for someone who is not familiar with Kampala. My experience at the hotel was beyond my expectations.
I like the room, I like the food, breakfast and plated dinner. Chefs are good in making Korean dishes. Staffs are very friendly.
Entry to reception is not easily accessible from when you alight from car. The reception room/area needs a bit of attention as this is the first place clients would see and make impression of the place.
A nice place to rest. Not to much noise. Nice and clean swimming pool and a very good cook. I had a room with a small kitchen and a good balcony
Outside the gate is the street a little busy so it’s hard to make a walk safely
I had an excellent stay at hotel Duomo. My room was large, clean and equipped with everything I needed, quiet too which is sometimes difficult to find in Kampala. For the price the hotel has excellent facilities.
Staff are friendly and helpful, the owner was very accommodating.
A good measure of a place is if you'd stay there again and I definitely would do, this is somewhere I'd recommend you check out.
